Is anyone about to watch this? I am in bed and have a good book to read....torn...

PeppermintonCandyCane Mon 10-Dec-12 21:00:11

I'm recording it so I can watch it without the ads. Loved the book. Have you read it?

No - it looks like something I would love though. It's started - I think I'll give it a go grin

AnyFuckerForAMincePie Mon 10-Dec-12 21:02:56

I'm watching. I have no idea what it is going to be about though

ledkr Mon 10-Dec-12 21:07:26

I'm watching too I like these tv dramas. Dd1 is in a rare helpful mood so is trying to settle the baby for me whilst I watch it

DontForgetTheSproutsLawrence Mon 10-Dec-12 21:08:43

I really enjoyed the book - hope itv do it justice.

MikeLitorisHasChristmasLights Mon 10-Dec-12 21:11:44

Im watching.

I usually enjoy these drama things but the endings are normally rubbish.

ledkr Mon 10-Dec-12 21:35:46

It's a bit like my family hmm I have to laugh in these things where the same actor plays the younger character and is supposed to look twenty years younger just with the aid of a headband

LadyFace Mon 10-Dec-12 21:47:20

I am watching too but am somewhat distracted with the talk of chocolate ice cream followed by carte d'or adverts.

I'm a little confused so far. Is the book good? Might buy it for my new Christmas kindle grin

ledkr Mon 10-Dec-12 21:58:23

Bit fat fetched

Blondeshavemorefun Mon 10-Dec-12 22:54:36

Started watching but seems weird

thenightsky Mon 10-Dec-12 23:17:33

Oh I like it. I like these flashback to hippy hanging out rich kids summer of love but with sinister twist that haunts them forever things grin

RiaUnderTheMistletoe Mon 10-Dec-12 23:34:25

Interesting enough to watch the second half, but I don't really like any of the characters, so I don't much care what happens to them.

PeppermintonCandyCane Tue 11-Dec-12 10:57:28

The book is excellent, and has a great twist at the end.

I watched the first 10 minutes and thought the portrayal of characters and locations was spot on. Looking forward to watching the rest all in one go.

So biba killed the dad

And karen shot the boyfriend

And Rex took the blame for both

Karen said Biba was dead at one point. Did she commit suicide too, or is she actually alive? Is the daughter Biba's and not Karen's? That neighbour, the wife, is a right cow-bag.

MikeLitorisHasChristmasLights Wed 12-Dec-12 11:07:57

I think Biba is alive.

HalleLouja Wed 12-Dec-12 13:07:07

The way she said it made me think Biba was alive.

Atthewelles Wed 12-Dec-12 13:16:44

I thought Biba shot the boyfriend as well confused

HalleLouja Wed 12-Dec-12 13:17:27

I didn't think it was that clear who shot the boyfriend the one from Hunted.

Blondeshavemorefun Wed 12-Dec-12 15:55:55

why do you not think the daughter was karens?

and yes not clear who shot boyfriend, but certainly wasnt rex who killed either

I am probably over-thinking things and coming up with weird and wonderful ideas Blondes! Just a feeling, but no certainty.

Blondeshavemorefun Wed 12-Dec-12 17:16:21

grin little ab - well lets hope the ending is better then crinkly hall- i was very disappointed by that sad

Blondeshavemorefun Wed 12-Dec-12 17:19:06

crickly - bloody iphone and spellcheck

I knew what you meant! smile I was disappointed in the ending too.

schilke Wed 12-Dec-12 19:47:07

Is this ok for for a 12 year old (year 8) to watch? A friend of my 14 year old ds1 is in it so they both want to watch it. I recorded it, but have no idea what it is about!

RiaUnderTheMistletoe Wed 12-Dec-12 22:54:35

schilke I didn't find it frightening but (so far) it has murder, suicide, drugs and stalking, if that helps.

Who did the friend play?

schilke Thu 13-Dec-12 19:53:12

She was Lara. I think I'll watch it first!

diddl Sat 15-Dec-12 14:21:33

Just got around to watching it but OMFG it was tedious!

All the characters-irritating & bloody Biba!

So, yes-Biba killed the Dad & Karen shot Lenny.

Biba isn´t dead I don´t think-and Alice-Biba´s or Karen´s?

She was prattling on in that self obsessed way like Biba.

diddl Sat 15-Dec-12 14:32:40

I´m guessing that the stalking is Biba wanting to get Alice back.

valiumredhead Tue 18-Dec-12 08:20:58

Gosh it was hard going, sooooo boring! How does it differ from the book? I have downloaded the sample on kindle but not sure I'lll bother unless it's very different.

MikeLitorisHasChristmasLights Tue 18-Dec-12 09:04:46

I was so glad when it ended. Dull and badly acted.

I don't think I will bother with the book.

diddl Tue 18-Dec-12 11:54:48

I´m wading through it atm & I just don´t get why she stays with Rex.

So Biba kills 2 people & he goes to prison for it & Karen stays with him???!!!

Atthewelles Tue 18-Dec-12 12:42:10

I thought it was very poor - flat characters, patchy storyline with loads of holes, and I really didn't think the actress who played Alice was right for the part.

moajab Tue 18-Dec-12 12:53:47

So is Karen going to go through the pregnancy without the medical staff realising she's not given birth before? And it's one thing to stop a 12 year old seeing her birth certificate, but what about as Alice gets older?

Blondeshavemorefun Tue 18-Dec-12 13:58:33

bit of a let down tbh

and now karen is a murderess

guess thats brotherly love for rex to take the blame

and assume karen will never tell rex that biba came back

diddl Tue 18-Dec-12 14:12:06

Didn´t really make sense, did it?

She thought Biba was dead, I guess Alice would have ended up in care?

When Biba turned up she didn´t really get angry, did she, as in "I THOUGHT YOU WERE FUCKING DEAD"

I don´t get why she didn´t tell Rex the truth, though-although I think he´d have cared more, thinking that Alice was Biba´s tbh!

Or why he was such a twat as to try & get the job that the neighbour had been on about(I assume that´s how he found out who he was)

Blondeshavemorefun Tue 18-Dec-12 14:27:49

would have made more sense for rex to know alice was bibas and to 'adopt' her tho guess as he was in prison then karen wouldnt have got her as not married and might have ended in care

better to pretend to everyone else that she was theirs but rex to know the truth

also assuming that they then always kept alice a year diff from what she should have been - hence not wanting her to go to france and get passport
