Are you watching the new one that's started tonight? Brits vs America.

I'm not liking I so far, too much us vs them.

TwllBach Mon 15-Oct-12 21:21:49

I missed the first ten minutes and am recording the rest but I'm so excited grin

No next top model is any good unless it has Tyra banks in it <gavel>

Kittenkatzen Mon 15-Oct-12 21:24:33

I have sky+'d it to watch tomorrow, marking place till then <smiiiiizze>

JoandMax Mon 15-Oct-12 21:26:24

I just saw it so it's set to record on +1 at 10pm ready for me to watch tomorrow

Love Tyra!

5ThingsUnderTheBed Mon 15-Oct-12 21:37:15

Agree twll! I am not a fan of the British one but I love the American one. It's far more dramatic <pauses> and interesting

IdaBlankenship Mon 15-Oct-12 21:44:05

Hmmm not loving the Brit v US dynamic so far

Sky Living - the home of Tyra!

5ThingsUnderTheBed Mon 15-Oct-12 21:48:51

Not liking Kelly Osborne as a judge either.

mynameis Mon 15-Oct-12 21:49:55

grin thanks had forgotten this was on

IdaBlankenship Mon 15-Oct-12 21:51:22

I reckon a Brit girl will go tonight

SetFiretotheRain Mon 15-Oct-12 21:55:16

Message withdrawn at poster's request.

I've already seen this as watched while I was Stateside. Not the best season ever but there's plenty of drama.

The Brit vs US thing is quite funny. It works well in some of the challenges coming up. Stick with it!

IdaBlankenship Mon 15-Oct-12 21:57:45

I much prefer a normal series as opposed to the gimmicky ones like "All Stars", bah, at least we still have batshit crazy Tyra and her wisdom

IdaBlankenship Mon 15-Oct-12 21:58:44

X-posted mrscumberbatch - I could never not watch ANTM, no matter how shoddy it gets!

oh jeez, IdaBlankenship.

You will be disappointed with the next 'normal' series then. It's all College/Uni girls, they've fired Nigel Barker and the 2 Jays and the scoring system has alllllll changed.

It's madness.

Haha Ida, I agree. I find it really inspiring for ideas for photoshoots and hair.

5ThingsUnderTheBed Mon 15-Oct-12 22:01:02

Well there is a surprise. Reckon Tyra did the bottom lot on purpose.

I might start talking like Tyra, paus-ing be-tween ev-ery sy-la-ble. Wonder how annoying you'd get.

IdaBlankenship Mon 15-Oct-12 22:01:02

Nooooo - not smarmy Nige with his total lack of a sense of humour - I love him! It wouldn't be the same without the 2 Jays.. hmmmmph

IdaBlankenship Mon 15-Oct-12 22:02:02

5things - as long as you remember to shmize you'll be alright

Oh I love Nigel Barker. He's a total fox. And I really miss the 2 Jays. Their replacements aren't half as fun.

IdaBlankenship Mon 15-Oct-12 22:05:53

I still mourn the axing of Janice Dickinson - with her dry humping of the desk & other judges, she was cracked-out comedy gold

MaryZed Mon 15-Oct-12 22:07:25

Is it a new series?

I must tape it for dd.

MaryZ do you want me to send you the link so that she can watch it online and you don't have to worry about taping it?

MaryZed Mon 15-Oct-12 22:18:34

Yes, if you can that would be great - but we are in Ireland so she may not be able to, I'm not sure.

Thanks anyway.

glitch Mon 15-Oct-12 22:21:52

Where can you watch it online? Having cancelled sky it is gone from my telly and it is the one programme I miss.

link to every season

She should be able to watch.
If you click on the episode she wants to see it'll give her a list of streaming sites to watch it through- the best ones tend to be Gorillavid, Putlocker, Vidbux or DaClips.

If they're slow to load, pause the video for 10 minutes and come back to it- should be fine!

Glitch- you'll find the episode on that link x

glitch Mon 15-Oct-12 22:26:44

mrscumberbatch my life is complete grin
thank you, thank you, thank you.

Glad to be of service.

I'd also recommend Project Runway US. It's just as compelling/entertaining as ANTM!

MaryZed Mon 15-Oct-12 22:29:04

That is fantastic, thanks a million smile.

The boys will be delighted not to have to watch it. Which season is it now if tonight was episode 1? Season 13 episode 1 was it?

And I have marked that site to have a good mosey around tomorrow smile.

MaryZed Mon 15-Oct-12 22:29:41

I love Project Runway, too. There hasn't been one for a bit, has there <off to look>

Season 18 MaryZed!

You should definitely watch Project Runway Allstars. All the best/weirdest designers from each season are on it. I'm watching the finale tonight!

MaryZed Mon 15-Oct-12 22:34:20

Yessssss, GorillaVid seems to work fine here.

I can see myself not getting a lot done tomorrow while I investigate further grin

glitch Mon 15-Oct-12 22:34:59

Project runway too???? Oh all my favourite crap telly in one place gringringrin

MaryZed Mon 15-Oct-12 22:37:51

glitch, you and I will have a busy day tomorrow [snurk].

I feel a horrible dose of really bad flu coming on. I may have to stay in bed all day.

I'm off work with torn knee ligaments and leaking marrow. It's clearly awful, but I can tell you everything about slightly rubbish TV!

The funny thing is, I don't even own a TV. I hate having noise on in the background all the time and advertising etc so was quite militant about it. But here's me, sitting on the computer, frittering away braincells at 'makeover week'!

So much fun!!!

TwllBach Tue 16-Oct-12 20:38:54

<jumps back in>

I don't get it.

It's uk vs USA yes? Why are the uk girls people that have already been on BNTM? Isn't that unfair? Or does Tyra think its the only wy British girls can compete with USA girls grin

IdaBlankenship Tue 16-Oct-12 20:41:20

I think its unfair on the US girls- but Tyra is so obviously going to discriminate against the Brits so it'll all even itself out!

TwllBach Tue 16-Oct-12 22:02:12

Tbh I don't think out girls can compete (and I realise how ridiculous that makes me sound) don't you think they have completely different bodies? I mean, American thin is different to British thin.

These are the sort of things I keep to myself normally blush

IdaBlankenship Wed 17-Oct-12 13:18:27

Actually I did think that the UK girls were not as obviously model-y as the US girls and there did seem to be a big physical difference in them (height and weight wise). The only ones I thought was a good match were the 2 plus size models. US thin must be scarily thin though, don't you think? Remember the US winner a couple of seasons back that was so skinny, the judges could put their hands right round her waist.
I'm no good as spotting models though, as anytime I think one of the girls is pretty, they always photograph terribly and get booted out in the first couple of weeks!

That was Anne, I think IdaBlankenship. She was lovely though and I think it was quite clearly a natural thing for her as she was very tall and gangly.

Kittenkatzen Wed 17-Oct-12 13:33:45

Right, have watched it now.

I'm not sure what I think tbh - my face was like confused for quite a lot of the time. I hated the parade/ridiculous fierce off thingy at the start, it was just awful. And I can't believe the best insult any of our girls could come up with was <cockney accent> "wind ya neck in luv".

I assumed the reason our girls are all ex BNTM is an attempt to even out the home advantage that the US girls have got?

Agree that the US girls are much more modelly than ours....but then once anyone from the UK becomes famous they tend to take on a more American glossy appearance don't you think?

glitch Wed 17-Oct-12 13:35:43

mrscumberbatch, I am holding you responsible for the fact my house is like a tip and I have done absolutely nothing constructive since Monday night! grin

msrisotto Wed 17-Oct-12 13:44:04

Yay! My people, hello!
I'm not loving this series so far i must say. Thanks for the link, I do like projectrunway, I wonder if anyone knows where I can watch the U.S. "so you think you can dance?".

msrisotto Wed 17-Oct-12 13:45:23

Oh and the panel are shit now, I did like Andre Leon Tally.

Glitch, I'd say sorry but I'm lying!!!

American SO You Think You Can...

The first challenge was embarrassing I agree. It gets better though.

IdaBlankenship Wed 17-Oct-12 14:03:05

MrsCumberbatch - Anne, that's it - I don't think she would have won the years that it wasn't Italian Vogue they were going to model in - she had that extreme edgy model look that would work in Italian Vogue. She definitely wasn't very Cover Girl.
KittenKatzen - Oh god, the face off was excrutiating - I watched from behind a cushion for most of it!

Ann w/o an e. No excess baggage on her at all! I was relieved she beat the self-satisfied runner-up though.

Meh to the whole UK versus US thing. Agree that it does make it fairer to get BNTM girls, as they are having to cope with months of culture shock and crowd bias, and are, as Sophie? said, from a tiny island! Although I DO note they've sent them all the mouthy ones!

msrisotto Wed 17-Oct-12 15:49:53

Thanks although, is it legal?

It's legal as it's just streaming video. You're not downloading anything. Like iplayer!

glitch Wed 17-Oct-12 17:26:06

Not SYTYCD too?!!! Oh this thread is just marvellous grin grin grin

msrisotto Wed 17-Oct-12 17:38:30

Amazing grin I love you, and this thread. grin

TwllBach Wed 17-Oct-12 17:45:17

I am never pick the winners either. I'm still stuck on 'pretty' but it's not 'pretty' that wins really is it?

IdaBlankenship Wed 17-Oct-12 19:57:37

Apparently "pretty" is not as important as "fierce".
My favourite bit about ANTM is when Tyra gets outraged by any suggestion that modelling is not as important as, say, curing cancer. She literally implodes with righteous indignation - glorious.

She is quite mad. I can't decide whether I like Tyra or not as half the time she's campaigning for better body image in the media but the next she's saying that modelling is as important as curing cancer! Lol.

IdaBlankenship Wed 17-Oct-12 20:03:35

She is weirdly humourless, but I do love her. Mostly I think because she is batshit crazy. I do not like Elle or Lisa or any of the other NTM judges, they just don't have Tyra's command of the situation (or her slap-down ability of any mouthy wannabe models)

lighthousekeeping Wed 17-Oct-12 20:23:42

I turned off after five minutes. It's had it's day now.

TwllBach Wed 17-Oct-12 20:31:21

I hadn't watched any antm before June/July this year and have to admit I was quite snobby about it before I was sucked in and thought Tyra was appalling. Now... I love her. Love. Her. I can't work out if she knows she's batshit though.

I mean, did y'all seeee the all stars thing where she made her own movie???

IdaBlankenship Wed 17-Oct-12 20:35:31

I know! It was a fantastic and completely without irony.

Ida... did you mean to paraphrase 'Enchanted'? lol.

The movie thing was INSANE. I nearly bought her book because it sounded so awful.

IdaBlankenship Wed 17-Oct-12 20:51:46

I love her pseudo-intellectual bollocks, when she says things she thinks are profound but are actually just unintelligible.
MrsC - Enchanted? Que? Am I unintentionally channeling something?

TwllBach Wed 17-Oct-12 21:38:55

I really wanted her book to be amazing but after reading about I can't bring myself to read it sad

Sometimes when I am being sensible I look at some of the tasks she sets and am like, what the actual fuck??? But she's just so brilliant I forgive her grin

And the way she drops in and out of a French accent for no fathomable reason...

IdaBlankenship Wed 17-Oct-12 21:47:43

TwllBach - have you got to the season where she wears nothing but crack-tastic jumpsuits? - a different and more crotchtacular one each elimination. She resembled a magnificent alien warlord.

Ida- Disney's Enchanted. It's a hilarious film but at one point a no nonsense character turns around to a ridiculous disney prince and says 'Oh wow, you said that completely without irony.'

It's a throwaway line, but I have to watch that film at least once a day thanks to DD. I don't mind because it is very funny.

Twllback, I think she thinks that speaking with a French accent makes her cultured. Gah.

I thought i was the only one who noticed the insane jumpsuits. She is a proper mental.

IdaBlankenship Wed 17-Oct-12 22:10:24

MrsC - I have seen it! Only the once though and a while back so forgive my denseness.
I would probably read a self-help book by Tyra, but imagine it would be a bit shouty and that she would mix her metaphors a lot.

She'd to be too busy saying

Now I see you do this weird face

But what I do is THIS weird face and mugs to camera

Now THAT is modelling.

IdaBlankenship Wed 17-Oct-12 22:18:47

Then she would tell you in all seriousness that you just have no personality and that the judges just don't like you as a person.. but not to worry as its all constructive criticism

Oh god the All-Stars movie! Sometimes, just to upset each other, my husband and I look at each other meaningfully, suck our thumbs, and claim to be Tookie. And then we vomit like a Monty Python skit. Thank heavens he watches enough of it with me (particularly makeover week and nude week) that he doesn't think I'm completely off with the fierce fairies.

Fierce and love, y'all.

TwllBach Thu 18-Oct-12 16:43:31

Ohhh she actually says fierce and love??? I heard something that sounded like it at the end of a Tyra mail and thought " No no, definitely peace and love."

I should have known better grin

My favourites have been Laura and Alison. Definitely.

msrisotto Thu 18-Oct-12 17:07:39

IdaBlankenship Thu 18-Oct-12 19:38:37

I liked Laura but Alison got on my nerves with her baby doll face as it was the same in every shot. I was pretty amazed that Lisa won All-stars as she had crazy by the bucketload. I wonder if any top model winners actually have a decent career. I know one of the rejects is now an actress in Hollywood, but I've never seen any of the girls in a magazine.

There was some kind of scandal on All Stars though... if you watch the way it's edited it looks like Angelea is being set up to win on the last couple of episodes.

You'll notice that the 'crowning' of the winner takes place a good time after and in a different studio which is unusual. It's usually done at the point.

I think rumour had it that Angelea leaked her winning status and so had it taken off her.

IdaBlankenship Thu 18-Oct-12 19:59:30

Oh I forgot that - I had heard that Angelea had done something unbecoming for an ANTM winner - I was imagining some crazy scenarios like stealing Andre's cloak or running off with Tyra's weave.
I couldn't see Angelea or Lisa being winners really though..

Lisa is such a bawbag.

IdaBlankenship Thu 18-Oct-12 20:08:24

If that translates as "mouthy wee site", then I concur

IdaBlankenship Thu 18-Oct-12 20:08:44

"shite" not "site"

Lol aye that's the one.

I thought she had quite an old weathered face as well.

IdaBlankenship Thu 18-Oct-12 20:23:54

Yes she is a bit leathery. I didn't think the all-stars represented the best models of previous seasons at all.
My favourite season was the one with the girl who was legally blind and was eventually won by Eva. That was a classic season with swathes of bitchiness and twattiness - that was an early season (3 or 4?)

I can remember Eva and her tiny wee face. And remember some of the challenges with the blind girl but can't remember much else about that season.
Will have to rewatch!

IdaBlankenship Thu 18-Oct-12 20:34:28

Miss Pigford - thats a supermodel name if I ever heard one.

Pigford doesn't scream out model to me. She even had a wee upturned nose. Still one. Pretty pig.

MarshaBrady Thu 18-Oct-12 21:43:55

So which season are you all watching. 18 or 19?

I'm up to date so have seen both. Y'all better catch up!

IdaBlankenship Fri 19-Oct-12 09:21:05

No fair - don't you be racing ahead. Anyway, who are you going to slag off the models and be awestruck by Tyra's wisdom with, if you are a whole year ahead of us? wink

Ms Pigford is now Ms Marcille - I don't blame her! Yes, All-Stars is now famous as The One Where It's Obvious Angelea Won and Then They Had to Redo The Ending Months Later Without Her and No One Will Talk About It.

Angelea just had a baby boy, according to my Google Alert <the shame>. I've got it set up so that if we EVER find out what happened (because it wasn't a FB leak, or a pregnancy, because that must have happened a month or two after the final) I will KNOW.

Love that you're taking it seriously enough to have a google alert set up. Good show!

Ida.... I am always capable of giving a slagging. It's my Glaswegian heritage wink

msrisotto Fri 19-Oct-12 13:33:55

Ooh well if you find out the scandal please report back here!

Kittenkatzen Fri 19-Oct-12 16:45:10

Ooh yes I want to know what the Angelea scandal was too! Couldn't believe Lisa won the Allstars series.....that song she recorded was beyond awful! Love Alison for being quite weird and a little scary, but I really wanted Laura to win just because her nan made her clothes grin

IdaBlankenship Fri 19-Oct-12 17:13:09

Man, I want a Google Alert now, that shows a level of committment to ANTM that Tyra would approve of.

lakeofshiningwaters Fri 19-Oct-12 17:24:04

Hurrah for fellow ANTM fans! May I join with my fav ANTM moment - someone was poorly and struggled with their photo shoot. Tyra explained how she'd once been in Intensive Care but still managed to produce a fierce (fingersnap) photoshoot (or some similar anecdote). Words of wisdom were that you've just got to 'model through it' grin My sis and I love any opportunity to proclaim that we are modelling through it!

Also, so sad the Jays have got the heave-ho. If Mr Jay has gone, who will be able to keep at straight face while saying things like 'As we all know, homelessness is a cause very dear to Tyra's heart, so this week's photoshoot is going to be on a runway made of binbags and rubbish!'

Any chance a Brit will win d'ya reckon?

It's killing me not to blurt out spoilers. I am in ANTM hell!!!!!

Can we have a vote? What's been the most RIDICULOUS challenge to date?

Kittenkatzen Fri 19-Oct-12 17:57:20

WHAT??!!!? The Jays have GONE??? Since when? How have I missed this? WHYYYYY??! shock <cry>

IdaBlankenship Fri 19-Oct-12 17:58:24

lake wasn't that Danielle quietly dying on an elephant whilst trying not to puke on it?
It may not be the most ridiculous one, but my toes curled so hard at the girls trying to seduce Nigel in a cable car one season (or did I just dream that whole nightmarish vision?)

Kittenkatzen Fri 19-Oct-12 17:58:31

mrsc it has to be the Greek salad shoot surely? grin

IdaBlankenship Fri 19-Oct-12 18:00:50

Kitten tis true - MrsCumberbatch sadly informed us of their departure earlier, apparently they are gone for next season, I suspect Tyra is a bit jealous of them and wants the show to be all about meee, meee, meeeeeeeee

IdaBlankenship Fri 19-Oct-12 18:02:37

How could I have forgotten Greek Salad - "oww the olive oil is stinging my eyes", "you are coming off a bit slutty" (or words to that effect - quite how one can be a slutty salad was never explained fully)

I'm not gone on this series so far - I don't like the Americans vs Brits thing. And it all seems too shrieky so far. That won't stop me watching though - waiting for the smizing and the booty tooch etc!

EdgarAllanPond Fri 19-Oct-12 18:16:46

this series heats up - lots of alishea and Sophie bitching to camera

Kittenkatzen Fri 19-Oct-12 18:31:13

But I luffs Mr Jay sad <wails>

They should just rename it The Tyra Banks Show angry

Kittenkatzen Fri 19-Oct-12 18:32:03

grin at slutty salad

Oooh bitchyness yay!

EdgarAllanPond Fri 19-Oct-12 18:48:00

that salad shoot must have been awful for them!

though dominique really pulled a blinder on that one - she really nailed it, professional to the core, whilst Alison (who i favoured) sucked a bit and showed a whiny side. someone else did really well on that one...can't rememberr...

The cable car thing was dreadful. If he was her employer he'd have had her for harrassment!

The slutty salad thing was HILARIOUS. Whoever thought that up needs a knighthood.

The Jay's replacements are, interesting, I'll give them that. You will either love (As in lurve) or hate one of them.

The booty tooching on the Americans vs Brits series gets totally out of hand. I cringed.

Devastatingly, I was spoiled for the US/UK cycle in a very unexpected way - reading Avengers fanfic! Loki and Tony arguing about the merits of [Winner] and [Runner-up]. I was Displeased.

IdaBlankenship Sat 20-Oct-12 15:48:51

I hate spoilers - I like the suspense and also the WTF when they pick the person I don't like. I always think the final runway show is a joke, it never affects the outcome - remember the season with Melrose and whatshername that won it, Melrose did a great job on the runway but was clearly not going to win it, and the other girl absolutely stunk at walking to the point of being unwatchable, but won it as she photographed better.
Gah - just realised I care too much about ANTM, I need to get out more..

YouWithTheFace... that is so annoying! But quite a good reference wink

ScooseIsLooseInTheHauntedHoose Sat 20-Oct-12 20:51:51

Not just the jays Nigel barker has gone too it will not be the same sad

lighthousekeeping Sat 20-Oct-12 21:27:58

I cannot face watching it anymore. The last one I saw was the stupid book one when they had to act it out. I never watch the "specials" they are even worse.

EdgarAllanPond Sun 21-Oct-12 17:43:35

prurient interest i was forced to read some of Modelland on Amazon.

my word. it is just unreadable..totally, utterly, indulged, non sequitur dribble.

Kittenkatzen Sun 21-Oct-12 19:12:37

Nooooo scoosels Nigel was there wasn't he? I'm sure he was, I remember thinking at least we'd have one judge on our side.....or did I dream it?

IdaBlankenship Sun 21-Oct-12 19:15:22

Edgar surely it was deeply profound, perhaps we are just not smart enough to see the genius wink

TwllBach Sun 21-Oct-12 19:59:18

I'm watching the finale of the all stars season again and Lisa has just said -

"When things get rough, you hold on to the handlebars of fierceness and you don't let go"

IdaBlankenship Sun 21-Oct-12 20:48:59

I bet Tyra loved it though - she'd ride those fierce handlebars on the top of a stunt motorbike pyramid

TwllBach Sun 21-Oct-12 22:19:07

Tyra should absolutely make an app. A speaking one. Every time you felt down, a Tyra voice would come from your phone telling you to model through it and that it's about smizing through the pain and that Tookie would hold her head up high and stomp it out. I'd definitely pay for that!

ScooseIsLooseInTheHauntedHoose Mon 22-Oct-12 06:54:13

kitten the England vs USA season is Nigel's last one and Jay Manuels sad

Kittenkatzen Mon 22-Oct-12 09:52:56

twllbach HA! I would totally pay for that - as long as every time I got a new text message my phone would screech "TYYYYRA MAAAAAAAIL" grin

scoose that makes me sad sad Tyra must be ageing and feeling threatened that all the men around her are prettier than she is!

ScooseIsLooseInTheHauntedHoose Mon 22-Oct-12 10:39:51

Me too I don't think it will be the same without them I don't think Kelly cutrone is a good replacement for jay Alexander either. Why mess with seething that works I don't know if I will bother watching it to be honest.

IdaBlankenship Mon 22-Oct-12 21:17:42

5ThingsUnderTheBed Mon 22-Oct-12 21:20:59

Voming at the food task envy < vom face

IdaBlankenship Mon 22-Oct-12 21:24:37

I hate any nasty eating task - can't watch IACGMOOH when they do bush tusker trials. Although one of them was corn on the cob - what's grim about corn on the cob?

IdaBlankenship Mon 22-Oct-12 21:28:12

Hmmm sexy toddlers - bit dodgy don't you think?

IdaBlankenship Mon 22-Oct-12 21:54:29

Awww she got a fringe for nothing..

msrisotto Tue 23-Oct-12 06:40:27

Yeah the toddlers in lingerie thing was WELL dodgy!

EdgarAllanPond Tue 23-Oct-12 09:30:20

that food challenge was just sick.

poor Simone..

Yay! Found an ANTM thread! Agree that the normal format is better, not keen on this angle. Men are taking part in the next one, apparently.

That Louise has an amazing face and to be told she looks like Linda Evangelista! Well, if I was her, I would be thrilled. Linda E was the supermodel of supermodels. I think Louise's personality might trip her up though, Americans dislike that snottiness even more than us.

msrisotto Tue 23-Oct-12 17:35:41

I couldn't stand the girl who got picture of the week and her red blonde and blue hair. Massively irritating female.

EdgarAllanPond Tue 23-Oct-12 18:31:30

Laura... she can model though!

LittleBruzzenBear- men are in the next but one series. The series after the Brits vs Uk is college/uni girls. But it's the first without Nige and the Jays.

Mrs Risotto! The girl with the blonde and coloured hair is HUGELY irritating and reminds me of somebody I grew up with. I don't care for her much!

IdaBlankenship Tue 23-Oct-12 21:03:41

LittleAbruzzen I agree, Tyra is going to tear strips off Louise if she keeps the attitude up.
MsRisotto Red white & blue hair girl is really irritating but that was a good photo

I love the idea of a Tyra App - quick copyright that idea and get on it!

Can't believe Nigel and the Jays are leaving, they are a big part of ANTM. sad

FreddieMercurysEnormusPumpkin Wed 24-Oct-12 06:47:29

This series is utter muck so far. I shall have to persevere with it though. Sigh.

Maryzed and anyone else streaming - make sure you have a generous broadband allowance before you do so please! I had an allowance of 25gb on a dongle thing and my sister came and stayed and streamed stuff on her laptop all bloody week - my bill was over E200! She lives with my parents and they have broadband of 250gb and streams all the time, so it's fine if you have a generous allowance I assume but be careful!

IdaBlankenship Mon 29-Oct-12 21:06:27

I find the bit in the credits where Tyra mouths "want some" in a cutesy way really cringey

NeedlesCuties Mon 29-Oct-12 21:16:27

I do love Tyra's hair...

That woman is crazy, but has lovely hair.

5ThingsUnderTheBed Mon 29-Oct-12 21:20:34

I was thinking the same ting Ida. The whole sexy thing just isn't working there.

I hate when they've got to produce a whole shoot themselves, always crap.

IdaBlankenship Mon 29-Oct-12 21:21:59

Ah but isn't Tyra's hair really someone else's hair? She's always going on about her weave.
I reckon a Brit will go tonight, perhaps team leader girl, she's being featured heavily?

IdaBlankenship Mon 29-Oct-12 21:51:39

Poor Louise..

TwllBach Mon 29-Oct-12 22:00:07

Tyra has officially lost the plot. Even if she has just graduated from Harvard...

IdaBlankenship Mon 29-Oct-12 22:01:58

As Tyra is now a Harvard graduate she can now gleefully deviate from the English Language - seriously how many made up words were in that show?

FrillyMilly Mon 29-Oct-12 22:08:43

I'm not enjoying this season yet.

Challenge wise my favorites have to be the early ones. The one in the first series where they made them model bikinis in -4 on a New York roof top. That was harsh! I also loved any involving animals/insects/heights/nudity that would result in someone crying. They are beyond ridiculous now. How does eating an entire haggis help you be a better model.

Someone needs to bring a restraining order against Tyra on behalf of the English language. Every time she uses a 'Modelland' 'word'. Please God. Don't they teach them not to say crazy shit at HARVARD? Which is where she's been studying for the last three years, don't you know.

Louise looks like the kind of person who can't understand why people are just so out-of-the-blue critical just because she's like honest and true to herself.

As per one of my earlier posts, not surprised Louise went, but that publicist was/is a cow-bag though. I should imagine she is good at what she does, but no people skills. Others were sucking it up and Louise was being honest, however, such a waste, Louise has an amazing face and looked fab with that haircut. Not enjoying the challenges either. Not many beauties in this season IMO. Who is the Brit girl who looked like Katy Perry in last week's shoot? I like her. Other than that, I thought Louise was best-looking.

IdaBlankenship Tue 30-Oct-12 14:14:40

Youwiththeface I think Tyra sholud pursue an acting career - the way she managed to summarise the plot of Modelland without cracking up with laughter was awe-inspiring

IdaBlankenship Tue 30-Oct-12 14:16:25

littleAbruzzen Louise has clearly never watched ANTM, she should know that if you come across as having attitude the judges will bait you until you finally snap. I felt sorry for her - I hate it when people are humiliated.

I felt sorry for her too Ida. If she had watched the show before then she may have 'played the game' and kept quiet.

But there IS a difference between rude and honest! Louise was well over that line. If you are taking part in a competition where your goal is at least to get good contacts and build a US presence of some form, where your reactions are going to be televised AND you have already participated in a smaller version, you should be highly aware of how you come across in front of future employers/references. She could have been equally honest by saying "Thank you for your opinion/criticism" and shutting the hell up.

(And seriously, if you go on one of these shows without watching the previous ones, you're a fool.)

FrillyMilly Tue 30-Oct-12 19:31:54

Idablankenship Tyra has pursued an acting career she was in coyote ugly and this really dire film with Lindsey Lohan where she played a doll. Wasn't she also in fresh prince of bel air?

I'm so tempted to read modelland but I don't want to waste money. I also don't have the guts to ask at the library.

IdaBlankenship Tue 30-Oct-12 19:51:22

Youwith - oh no, I agree that Louise was rude, but you knew exactly how that scenario was going to play out, and the panel for sure would have kept on until they got some sort of reaction out of her. I think they were right to call her on her attitude, I just don't like it when people get that upset. And whatserface on the panel was a beeeyatch!
Funnily enough though, I don't really remember Louise from BNTM, was she this mardy on that show?
Frilly - go on get it from the library, and then you can let me know how awful it is so I don't have to go & read it myself!

Just read the Amazon reviews of Modelland - hilarious!

Louise had a long dark makeover. She was really narked off about it. She ended up as runner-up to Lauren McAvoy; I don't remember her especially but I remember really rooting for Lauren because she was Not Louise.

IdaBlankenship Tue 30-Oct-12 22:16:46

I just had to google Lauren, I remember her now. It speaks volumes how unmemorable 99.9% of ANTM / BNTM winners actually are.
I reckon someone has to read Modelland. Perhaps we should draw straws and the loser has to report back with choice edited highlights.

lisad123 Wed 31-Oct-12 23:36:22

Marking my place for like minded people who watch this secret sin grin

So what are your Intoxibella super-powers, then, fellow ANTM fans?

<< tooches booty >>
<< puts back out >>
<< hobbles back to couch >>

TwllBach Fri 02-Nov-12 11:56:35

Ooh good question! <ponders>

Mine would have to be my hair. Not the hair on my head, mind. Definitely the hair that is everywhere else on my body Will smizing and being fierce cover for it d'y'all think?

Course it will, darling!

I remember Eva the Diva, Nicole, Whitney and Anne from ANTM, but that's it. The British ones are even less memorable.

Pooka Fri 02-Nov-12 13:27:28

I loved the one with adrienne and Elise vs Texan blonde with thin lipped grin and religious southerner. The latter two refused to model nude and robin (yes, that's the name - jut remembered) got tongue lashing from Tara for being a hypocrite since she had previously flashed her boobs at jay manuel.

WizzPopWizzBang Fri 02-Nov-12 15:22:13

Not sure if anyone has seen this, but Jael from earlier series looks terrible now. I always thought she came across a bit of a drug user when she was in the show. Iirc one of her friends overdosed while she was in the show.

IdaBlankenship Fri 02-Nov-12 16:03:58

STDG I don't think I can pick my own - I need Tyra to come round and press a sticker on my bosom to tell me.

NeedlesCuties Fri 02-Nov-12 16:24:37

Jael looks unrecognisable, poor thing sad

I think you are right, Ida - and as I have an enormous bosom, I can have a really long Intoxibella name! grin

IdaBlankenship Fri 02-Nov-12 18:49:11

TwllBach perhaps you can be "Hirsute-ia" (although I'm sure you are not)
SDTG in that case I'll have to have a really short name!

TwllBach Fri 02-Nov-12 22:54:44

Oh I like it. It's much more refined than Hairy Beastina, which is what I would have come up with grin

IdaBlankenship Tue 06-Nov-12 10:42:36

Noooooooo! My Sky+ failed.... aaaaargh.

IdaBlankenship Wed 07-Nov-12 19:37:41

Am I the only person still watching this mess of a series? Can't really blame you all for bailing, its pretty piss poor.
The right girl went this week for sure though.

I'm still watching Ida - though I agree it is a pretty poor cycle this time, and I hate the US v UK thing, and the way the girls are being wound up to be as competitive as possible between the countries - the 'big box of prizes' for the country whose girl wins the challenge is a prime example - and making them dress in the flag costumes for elimination. Grrrrrrr.

TwllBach Thu 08-Nov-12 20:35:25

I've just watched it on sky plus. Tyra looks like she has lost weight dont you think?

IdaBlankenship Thu 08-Nov-12 21:22:25

STDG and Twll - nice to see you back, I felt like a saddo muttering about ANTM to myself in a dark corner..

The Go Fug Yourself girls are always amusing re: Tyra, they had a nice entry about Tyra's jumpsuit craziness a few seasons back:

TwllBach Thu 08-Nov-12 21:26:10

And her crazy topknot!!

IdaBlankenship Thu 08-Nov-12 21:34:46

Tyra's hair could have its own show.

I'm amazed I'm sticking with this series, even the lovely Nigel Barker looks like he has had enough. I still don't like the silly bint on the panel with Ringu hair. Funnily enough, I do think BNTM was better, kind of how ANTM used to be.

IdaBlankenship Thu 08-Nov-12 21:40:56

But don't you think Elle is (suprisingly) a bit of a charisma vacuum? But BNTM has more of the proper modelling challenges rather than the pointless acting/selling/hosting/singing ones that ANTM has nowadays.

I don't like Elle, she has no warmth and looks like she's clenching her teeth and backside if she has to hug one of the girls, but I prefer the format. It doesn't hurt to look at Tyson too. grin

IdaBlankenship Thu 08-Nov-12 21:53:22

I think Elle is a wee bit cold - I don't like it when she wears her huge mirrored sunglasses when judging the girls - it is very rude!
Julien McDonald is a total bitch , but at least good value. Tyson I agree is rather fine.

Yes, I agree, that is very rude to keep her sunglasses on. I think if they could find someone with personality then it would be near perfect. I'm trying to think of a model that fits the bill. Mila Jovovich is an ex-model, she is warm and funny, but I think just wants to stick with acting. I would love Kate Moss to boot Elle off and take over one week to see how she would do things. Ha, yes, Julien is a bitch!

IdaBlankenship Thu 08-Nov-12 22:01:35

Naomi Campbell would be great - she could just fling her mobile phone at whomever was being eliminated!

5inthebed Thu 08-Nov-12 22:04:13

I'm still watching it. Getting fed up with us vs them. Will keep watching though, it's one of the only programmes I watch.

IdaBlankenship Tue 13-Nov-12 19:51:39

This was quite a good episode I thought - some proper modelling challenges at last (I like go-sees, they are always brutal). Trouble was it was obvious who was going home from near the beginning.
I really liked red, white and blue hair girls photo - however she is very irritating, I have a suspicion either her or Kyle will win. I don't think there is any chance of Tyra letting a Brit win.

IdaBlankenship Tue 13-Nov-12 19:52:08

Oh but Jay Manuels fashion line... oh dear

TwllBach Tue 13-Nov-12 21:11:06

I like how they let the signature plus size model go through and then Alwys find something else to criticise. Never ever will a plus size model win, or I will eat my hat.

IdaBlankenship Tue 13-Nov-12 21:18:42

Twll - didn't Whitney win a few years back....? wink

TwllBach Tue 13-Nov-12 21:56:18

Ooooh I don't know! <runs off to google>

IdaBlankenship Tue 13-Nov-12 21:59:30

Hope thats a tasty hat you've got there grin
But I do agree with you - the judges usually get rid of the plus size models for spurious reasons around the middle of the season.

FrillyMilly Wed 14-Nov-12 21:18:07

I think it's had it's day now. Next week they record a music video. Plus one of the prizes is to be the face of Antm perfume. Who would buy that. If I hear the word '30-never' one more time in going to scream. Jay Manuel's fashion line was embarrassing and it's so biased towards the Americans.

I'm glad I am not the only one seeing a bias towards the Americans. And I hate the US vs UK thing too, and the way that they are trying to pit them against eachother by rewarding the country whose girl gets best picture.

I think Azmarie is going to win - I don't like her, but her pictures are amazing.

IdaBlankenship Thu 15-Nov-12 19:48:05

Frilly ANTM perfume - I imagine it as the whiff of mediocrity with a hint of desperation
SDTG I hope Azmarie doesn't win, I think her pictures are strong, but her face is a bit samey in pictures. I think Sophie is the only Brit with a chance of getting to near the end as the judges seem to like her, but she definitely won't win it.

TwllBach Tue 20-Nov-12 18:26:13

<dookie tooch>p

msrisotto Tue 20-Nov-12 19:52:56

Wtf happened?? I did NOT see that coming!

TwllBach Tue 20-Nov-12 19:55:07

Tyra never likes the ones that give her the 'tude tooch.

<side tooch>

msrisotto Tue 20-Nov-12 20:17:57

That was a surprise though, they've tolerated bitches before though, Eva for one. Kyle needs to go next, she's SOOO dull! The challenge and vid were ridiculous btw.

IdaBlankenship Wed 21-Nov-12 09:43:59

I liked this episode - the Brit girls video was pretty good I thought (normally those challenges are so bad they make your toes curl).
Glad Azmarie and her bad Az-itude went, she really thought she was the cats pyjamas. She should know by now that anyone who disses the big T will make a swift exit, did the lesson of Louise not teach her anything?

I'm glad Azmarie went too, and I am glad that a Brit won best picture this week (is that the first time a Brit has won?). Their video was far better than the american girls' one.

And this is probably going to show how old I am, but why didn't anyone just get a needle and thread, and sew the bear's ear back on??

IdaBlankenship Wed 21-Nov-12 10:31:15

Because it is still floating in the pool, SDTG, and Laura is too busy giving people the evil eye and muttering about how they are dead to her, to retrieve it

Probably true, Ida!

msrisotto Wed 21-Nov-12 13:17:18

Unfortunate that the brits couldn't win a modelling related challenge though...

IdaBlankenship Sun 02-Dec-12 22:43:15

Crikey - this season is strangely uncompelling. Who went this week I can't remember? We need a good challenge to spice things up, like having them in a bikini on the top of a tall building in the middle of a megastorm or something like that.
I reckon Sophie could make the final - Tyra would like a Brit / US final, but which American - Laura?

IdaBlankenship Mon 03-Dec-12 21:27:11

Ok why are they walking so slowly on those catwalks right now ??

msrisotto Tue 04-Dec-12 19:28:52

Hey, just caught up with yesterday's episode. 4 Brits to 2 Americans! Didn't predict that!

Any predictions for winner yet? I'm waiting for very blonde American girl to step up or step out as she's gorge but with only one look so far. Unless Sophie starts resting on her laurels, she might be in with a decent chance, as might Alesha if she figures out how to consistently do good pictures.

IdaBlankenship Tue 04-Dec-12 20:48:57

Sophie / Laura final? Kathrine or Ebony will go out next. I never thought much of Sophie, but she did look good on the catwalk this week. I like Alesha - she could be the dark horse.

TwllBach Wed 05-Dec-12 17:34:37

I can't remember any of them, even this far into the competition, so that can't be good! I'm basically only watching for Tyra, Nigel and the Jays.
