Can't wait! Anyone watching it to tonight?

ILovePonyo Sun 14-Oct-12 20:25:58

Hellooo! Marking my place.

Am going to try and stay up late in Friday to watch it - yes 11pm is late for me grin

MuddlingMackem Sun 14-Oct-12 21:31:44

I thought series 3 doesn't start until the 19th? Are we missing the first episode?

ILovePonyo Sun 14-Oct-12 22:10:49

It starts here on the 19th but in america tonight (I'm guessing?)

MuddlingMackem Sun 14-Oct-12 22:44:54

Ah, that makes sense. I thought it was odd if we'd got it wrong: the staff in Forbidden Planet are all wearing promo shirts with the premiere date on. grin

ILovePonyo Mon 15-Oct-12 21:20:08

envy of the tshirts - I want one! grin

anonacfr Mon 15-Oct-12 22:41:14

So has anyone seen it yet???? I hear (from the TV review so no spoilers) that there are LOTS of zombies in the first episode. Some of them in riot gear.

Merrin Tue 16-Oct-12 13:06:58

It was an excellent start to the series, right back into the action! I have some questions tho so hurry up and watch it you lot!

Piggychunk Tue 16-Oct-12 14:07:39

Can't wait to smile

somewherewest Tue 16-Oct-12 18:15:05

I've seen it. Lots of action and zombies. Its also fairly gorey.

anonacfr Tue 16-Oct-12 19:05:21

Yeeeeeeeees! Sounds wonderful, I might have to watch it tonight with a bucket of popcorn.
I was going to watch my specially imported DVD of Season 2 of Borgen but you be are making me reconsider.

Schrodingershamster Tue 16-Oct-12 19:06:31

Ive seen it. Love the show. Does anyone else really really hate Lori or is it just me ?

anonacfr Tue 16-Oct-12 19:16:51

Don't worry as far as I can tell the whole WORLD hates Lori. She's up herself, whiny, rude (NEVER says thank you to anyone) and incredibly manipulative.
At the end of last season she was directly resoponsible for Rick and Shane' showdown and then acted traumatised when Rick killed him.... After she more or less told him to!
Plus she's a shit mother.

ipswichwitch Tue 16-Oct-12 19:21:23

Not just you schrodinger. I fail to see what Shane got so obsessed about her for, she's a major pita.
For the love of god nobody let slip any spoilers til after fri!!!! Been looking forward to this for months.

wintera Tue 16-Oct-12 19:26:22

Everybody hates Lori. Everybody. Lori is as universally hated as much as Daryl is universally loved. Its a fact!

Schrodingershamster Tue 16-Oct-12 19:41:18

Oh thank god. I loathe her. She is utterly useless. Shit mother , shit wife , whiney , puts herself in danger, never has a clue where her son is , whines to Rick contantly. Did i mention whiney - put a sock in it woman ! And stupid - did she really thing the MAP would cause her to loose her baby ?

Andrea is my heroine for standing up to her in the kitchen when Lori was banging on about the women should be doing laundry not patroling with guns.

I hope she becomes zombie fodder. I hope Rick throws her to them the cheating whiney cowbag.

susiedaisy Wed 17-Oct-12 01:19:40

Just marking my place and waiting for Friday gringrin

Skelacia Wed 17-Oct-12 14:05:04

I've seen the first episode. Twice grin

AnEerieAirOfHorror Wed 17-Oct-12 14:47:33

i like Glen the best blush He seems normal lol

redlac Wed 17-Oct-12 14:51:38

Watched it last night. Was zombie tastic!

I've not watched the first 2 seasons and only watching this one cos David Morrissey is in it (have read the graphic novels though)

Rachel130690 Wed 17-Oct-12 14:55:14

I've seen it. My Oh downloaded it.

I'm just glad there on the move again, it got a bit boring last series on that farm. Hopefully there will be a lot more action this series.

First episode did not disappoint. Can't wait for 2nd smile

Merrin Wed 17-Oct-12 17:14:35

Keeping my fingers crossed that Lori will require a bullet to the brain soon! <not a spoiler, just me being hopeful!>

WickedGirl Wed 17-Oct-12 18:53:24

It is was worth the wait. Can't wait for the next one now

Melty Wed 17-Oct-12 20:49:39

ME too. just watched it. Very good episode.
Lots of gore. Lots of Eeeeugh.
Good start.
I had read the comics beyond this point, and so far its going with the story (ish)
But I repeat.

BeyondLimitsOfTheLivingDead Thu 18-Oct-12 20:58:28

I've watched it! I love it. (And I hate Lori and love Daryl grin)

Something is bugging me though, feel free to tell me I'm taking it too seriously... grin why are the zombies not really rotted by now? How come theyre still able to walk around, surely they should have decomposed more?

susiedaisy Thu 18-Oct-12 22:39:36

I'm wondering if people turned at different times so some of the zombies have maybe only been walkers for a few weeks!

anonacfr Thu 18-Oct-12 23:17:51

Just watched it with popcorn and chocolate éclair.
After all I read I was expecting more gore. Definitely an eeeeugh moment though.

anonacfr Thu 18-Oct-12 23:19:05

Yes but with the heat and the humidity in that part of the world a few weeks is definitely enough for bones to be showing. Maybe the virus keep the bodies from decaying?

susiedaisy Fri 19-Oct-12 08:19:37

Can you imagine the stench!!

cornykrueger Fri 19-Oct-12 08:21:37

so excited....

WickedGirl Fri 19-Oct-12 08:54:17

I wondered that'd expect more of their skin to be falling off by now

BeyondLimitsOfTheLivingDead Fri 19-Oct-12 09:00:08

I watch a lot of gory stuff, but it was the riot helmet that made me flinch, do u know which bit i mean trying not to post spoilers

cornykrueger Fri 19-Oct-12 09:32:19

is daryl wearing a vest?

wintera Fri 19-Oct-12 09:56:10

Yuck am now thinking too much about the stench of the city! Eurgh!

somewherewest Fri 19-Oct-12 11:04:49

Regarding the Lori hate, I actually feel just a little sorry for Lori after watching the first episode.

AnEerieAirOfHorror Fri 19-Oct-12 17:35:05

Anyone else counting down the hours till 10pm on FX?

susiedaisy Fri 19-Oct-12 18:13:00

Oh yeah!

wintera Fri 19-Oct-12 18:44:16

I didn't hate Lori at first and even defended her a couple of times. It was Andrea I hated. Then towards the end of season two I was thinking 'yeah, everyone else is right, she is really annoying'. And even Andrea started to redeem herself! Can't wait for first ep!

How have people seen the first one? Have I missed it?

wintera Fri 19-Oct-12 19:12:28

Don't worry you've not missed it. I am assuming other people have watched it by other means . . . . Nudge nudge wink wink say no more . . .

Ah <breathes sigh of relief> cool. Excited!

Fairyjen Fri 19-Oct-12 19:17:25

I've seen first 3 episodes!! Your in for a real treat, this series follows grafic novels closer so all good

Blondeshavemorefun Fri 19-Oct-12 19:58:44

Can't wait till tonight smile

2hrs to go

Blondes gets excited

Fx basically excites me smile

anonacfr Fri 19-Oct-12 19:59:58

How did you manage to see 3???? It's not even out in the States yet.

I too felt sorry for Lori (never thought I would)

They're all still wearing the same clothes, so yes, Darryl is wearing a vest.

(In fact surely the should all be wearing long sleeves to avoid zombie scratches. It appears they've given up on that- specially Maggie and Glen if people know what I mean. Don't worry it's not a spoiler)

Helmet bit was vile but wasn't the only one.

Fairyjen Fri 19-Oct-12 20:05:00

My wonderful dp found them online and downloaded. blush not that we do that kind of thing often...

susiedaisy Fri 19-Oct-12 20:29:54

Getting super excited now!!

Blondeshavemorefun Fri 19-Oct-12 21:03:08

Just catching up with last episode of last series - shown last week

Did we work our how preg lori was and how long they had been running - assume 8/10 weeks?

Also will the man from series one who chopped his hand off when left on the roof turn up?

wintera Fri 19-Oct-12 21:10:17

Darryl's brother Merle you mean? Yes he will definitely turn up as he is in the trailer for season three.

ILovePonyo Fri 19-Oct-12 21:14:47

Less than an hour to go grin

So Fairy I'm assuming you mean it sticks closer to the graphic novels re the governor?

I'm so excited. I'm actually staying up to watch this, 11pm will be a late bedtime for me!

Fairyjen Fri 19-Oct-12 21:17:56

Yes re govenor some stuff will change as characters are in show and not in novels and vice versa but yes is looking good.

There is a twist with merle apparently!

ILovePonyo Fri 19-Oct-12 21:26:57

Merle and daryl weren't in the comics were they? We're on about issue 12, unless they turn up after then.

ILovePonyo Fri 19-Oct-12 21:27:30

Sorry I keep calling them comics grin naughty!

Fairyjen Fri 19-Oct-12 21:33:58

No they not however in one comic dunno which issue last pic is of a crossbow coming round corner. I think they being written in due to popularity of them on tv show

ILovePonyo Fri 19-Oct-12 21:44:07

Ooh really?! I keep forgetting the comics are relatively new and ongoing, it feels like they're like a 'classic' novel that is years old being re-done by tv iykwim grin

redlac Fri 19-Oct-12 21:51:18

Current graphic novel is number 96 and the TV series is only around issue 13 so there's a LONG way to go

Fairyjen Fri 19-Oct-12 21:51:39

I know! They get very very dark tho particularly in relation to lori will be interesting how tv series plays that one!

ILovePonyo Fri 19-Oct-12 21:55:14

I think we're reading the ones where there's about 5 or 6 comics in one - they're about £10 from water stones so not just the one comic of that makes sense?

We found a load in fopp for a fiver each though so stocked up!

Fairyjen Fri 19-Oct-12 21:58:43

Love it when ds falls asleep at just right moment, now can watch it again!

susiedaisy Fri 19-Oct-12 22:03:27

Here we go!!grin

Fairyjen Fri 19-Oct-12 22:11:15

Oh daryl <<swoon>>

ILovePonyo Fri 19-Oct-12 22:24:44

I feel like I need subtitles half of the time...

susiedaisy Fri 19-Oct-12 22:26:32

They all look rougher And tougher!

Fairyjen Fri 19-Oct-12 22:30:31

I have subtitles on (am deaf) and zombie noises come up as "suggestive grunting"

susiedaisy Fri 19-Oct-12 22:34:37

wintera Fri 19-Oct-12 22:40:07

Oh Christ . . . its all going to go wrong isn't it? Too good to be true! A prison would be an excellent place to retreat to though. I am amending my Zombie survival plan after this. If you could make it secure, a prison would be great!

ILovePonyo Fri 19-Oct-12 22:40:42

Haha! Suggestive grunting grin

Blondeshavemorefun Fri 19-Oct-12 22:44:15

Merle - that's him smile

bulletwithspookybatwings Fri 19-Oct-12 22:44:44

Yaaaay! Zombies! Been looking for this thread.... The new lady is my new favourite character, sorry Darryl! Is this series set about 4/5 months after s2?

susiedaisy Fri 19-Oct-12 22:54:59

That was fecking brilliant!!

bulletwithspookybatwings Fri 19-Oct-12 22:55:27

shock that was awesome!

ILovePonyo Fri 19-Oct-12 22:57:07

Merle? Where, in the prison at the end?
That was gooooood smile

Lori is annoying tho. "oh don't worry about me if I get bitten, make sure you kill me <sob>" yeah that's what they would do love!

wintera Fri 19-Oct-12 23:00:48

Poor Herschel's leg. How feckin awful! Yuck! Didn't we discuss that ages ago on here? Seem to remember us chatting about whether you could chop the part off that had been bitten and if you did, would it stop the infection taking over? Interesting development.

And, Is it me or were some of those Walkers a bit quick and nifty on their feet? Anyone else find those adverts for Joop bloody annoying!!

wintera Fri 19-Oct-12 23:02:11

Ponyo - No Merle wasn't in the prison. Blondes is responding to something I said eariler in the thread.

susiedaisy Fri 19-Oct-12 23:03:19

Joop advert is pants and the model is way too young for me to lust over gringrin

TwllBach Fri 19-Oct-12 23:04:39

I missed it sad does anyone know if I can watch if on catch up anywhere??

anonacfr Fri 19-Oct-12 23:04:51

Sweaty Darryl massage... Not sure if it was sexy or yuk.

Was I the only one traumatised by Glenn kissing Maggie's zombie-blood splattered arm, and she kissing his zombie splattered disgustingly dirty T shirt? That's what I was referring to in my previous post. Eeeeeeeeew!

Otherwise I can't believe that after 7 months they still haven't managed to find a safe place to have the baby or for that matter noticed the massive prison they were camping about half a k away from at the end of last series. You'd think Herschel and his girls being from that part of the world might have mentioned it too!

Oh and speaking of Herschel when you go exploring a dark zombie filled prison, don't take the only doctor you have with you..... WHEN THERE'S A BABY DUE TO BE BORN ANY SECOND!!!!

Otherwise they're all rather grim and dirty. I want to know why they all hate Lori all of a sudden. Carl can't even look at her (but he's happy to perv on Beth the sociopathic little brat). I thought the Andrea thing was random and should have been left for next episode though.

Anyway welcome back zombies! I've missed you.

susiedaisy Fri 19-Oct-12 23:05:41

I do actually feel a bit sorry for lori at the moment being heavily pregnant she must feel even more vulnerable then the rest of them!

susiedaisy Fri 19-Oct-12 23:07:08

I know, they are getting sprayed with zombie blood all the time they must be inhaling it!

susiedaisy Fri 19-Oct-12 23:07:26

Twi try fx

susiedaisy Fri 19-Oct-12 23:07:59

Sorry I meant is there a fx+1 where it starts an hour later

wintera Fri 19-Oct-12 23:12:46

It always used to be repeated on a Sunday night. You could check the listings. Or do you have Virgin on demand? It normally appears on there too.

bulletwithspookybatwings Fri 19-Oct-12 23:13:52

They're all already infected anyway susiedaisy I think it's only if they get bitten that they zombify without getting killed iyswim

susiedaisy Fri 19-Oct-12 23:16:57

Oh yes of course

susiedaisy Fri 19-Oct-12 23:17:45

Glad to see Andrea had survived!

anonacfr Fri 19-Oct-12 23:23:05

Just because they're already infected doesn't mean they have lick rotten blood and flesh off each other...

bulletwithspookybatwings Fri 19-Oct-12 23:29:24

Haha, that's very true. Mingers.

ledkr Sat 20-Oct-12 09:01:34

Just marking my place feel a bit left out grin
I thought it was a lot better than series 2 there was actually some zombies in it

wintera Sat 20-Oct-12 09:18:36

What was going on with Darryl and Carol? She's definitely come out of her shell since her husband died.

susiedaisy Sat 20-Oct-12 09:24:31

I think they've all become really close like comrades, I don't think anything romantic will come of it with Carole and daryl! They've definitely all hardened up in a do or die sort of way even Carl's become less bratty thank god!

ILovePonyo Sat 20-Oct-12 09:27:42

Carl was much less annoying in that episode surprisingly.

I found the coy shoulder massaging a bit cringey for some reason, not sure why.

ILovePonyo Sat 20-Oct-12 09:28:24

Oh thanks for clearing up Merle confusion wintera grin

susiedaisy Sat 20-Oct-12 09:34:39

Yes I agree the shoulder massage was a but cringey but it didn't need to be really and actually it was a piss poor massage IMO grin

ILovePonyo Sat 20-Oct-12 09:42:08

grin agreed! You could just see it coming when carol started saying her arm hurt after shooting. Cringe!

wintera Sat 20-Oct-12 09:55:52

It was indeed a piss poor massage I agree. But then again Darryl is a virgin and hasn't ever been intimate with a lady so it stands to reason he wouldn't know what the hell to do in that situation. Poor love, he needs corrupting!

cornykrueger Sat 20-Oct-12 10:27:07

how did I miss the daryl massage? who was he massaging? <don't say carol, don't say carol...>

susiedaisy Sat 20-Oct-12 10:39:50

It was Carole grin

A virgin you say? I didn't realise that!wink

Nightwish Sat 20-Oct-12 11:28:34

Oh I am so glad I found this thread grin.

I watched the first two seasons of Walking Dead in the last couple of weeks, had seen DP watching it and tried to get past my wussy side and forced myself to watch it. I love it.

Waiting until tomorrow Monday for next episode to be online after aired in America.

If anyone misses them and wants to watch them online give me a message and I will let you know the website I watch them on.

anonacfr Sat 20-Oct-12 12:32:04

We should have a special thread on the many ways we could corrupt Darryl... grin

cornykrueger Sat 20-Oct-12 13:17:56

ho ho grin

valiumredhead Sat 20-Oct-12 13:57:46

Oooooooo it was fab last night!! We opened the cava left over from christmas to celebrate its return grin

I loathe the pregnant wife - I hope someone eats her soon, she irritates the hell out of me!

Pocketsocks Sat 20-Oct-12 18:28:58

Glad I found this, I watched one maybe two episodes in season one, and thought meh, so left DP to it, then I wandered in in the last episode of season two and now am watching season 3 with DP. So catch me up please!
Anything in particular I need to know? And who is the father of the baby anyhow? Is it Shane?

wintera Sat 20-Oct-12 19:17:08
ThatVikRinA22 Sat 20-Oct-12 19:19:50

we forgot it but watched it on sky catch up was soooooo scary!

AnEerieAirOfHorror Sat 20-Oct-12 19:49:55

How did i miss Darrly is a v?

I have a new girl crush and now i want a sword smile

FateLovesTheFearless Sat 20-Oct-12 19:59:27

Step away from daryl, he is all mine.

I came across the walking dead on Netflix last week and watched both series in a week. Couldn't wait for series 3, am hooked already.

I actually don't mind lori. Wasn't her fault she shacked up with Shaun. He was a cock anyways!

Nightwish Sat 20-Oct-12 20:00:09

Are you sure Darryl is actually a virgin?

From an interview Norman Reedus did he said he acted him as though he was, but doesn't say he necessarily is.

cynister Sat 20-Oct-12 20:01:28

I miss Shane! I would have shown him my knickers..

Fairyjen Sat 20-Oct-12 20:54:51

I have official claim over daryl he is mine! All mine!

susiedaisy Sat 20-Oct-12 21:01:38

Shane was entertaining to watch, but he would of clashed with the new prisoners something terrible, i think there's going to be a lot of testosterone in this series, am wondering how the women will fare!

wintera Sat 20-Oct-12 21:18:59

I think I've seen two television interviews with Norman Reedus were he said in his mind, Darryl would definitely be a virgin and that's the way he plays him. He's worked out a back story for Darryl so I am assuming the producers etc are fine with this too. So if Norman reckons he's a virgin, I'm not gonna question it!

wintera Sat 20-Oct-12 21:23:08

Shane was a prick, I'm glad he's dead to be honest. Much better dynamic last night with him gone. And I liked how Darryl is now second in command so to speak. Will make for an interesting development when Merle returns as I doubt he will be happy that Darryl is loyal to Rick now.

susiedaisy Sat 20-Oct-12 21:41:30

I wonder if Merle will be loyal to his group if he is part of one and so daryl and him find themselves on opposite teams!

Elsqueak Sun 21-Oct-12 09:02:31

Caught this last night and loved it. Nice to have a bit of pace back & zombie bashing action!
YYY to riot mask....holy moly, I felt a bit queasy!
Love Daryl. Actually I have a silly girly crush on in uniform and all that! Plus he reminds me of my DH so can't help it!

atacareercrossroads Sun 21-Oct-12 09:19:07

Gah been waiting a fecking year and can't believe I've missed it.

If one wanted to ensure they didn't click on a website that has it online what sites should I avoid?

TwllBach Sun 21-Oct-12 09:42:13

It's repeated today on FX if you want to avoid doing it online smile

susiedaisy Sun 21-Oct-12 09:51:28

Yep fx will repeat it a various times throughout the week

AnEerieAirOfHorror Sun 21-Oct-12 09:56:44

its also on demand.

NoHank Sun 21-Oct-12 10:48:04

Only managed to watch it last night and bloody loved it. I felt tense and exhausted just watching them. You really got the impression they were knackered and had been running constantly since the last time we saw them. It might be just me but I also thought it looked like the walkers were following them. Just the way T dog said something like here they come again when looking out of the window in the house we saw them in at the beginning.

It was also good to see the women doing more than hanging out the washing. Loved how Maggie was always up front fighting with the rest of the men and the reference to Carol being a good shot - she has obviously had lots of practice and seemed to be a much stronger character.

I'm also confused though about the Lori hatred. I know we all want to slap her with a wet fish but I don't get why Carl has turned on her or Rick. Last we saw I thought things were ok between them. I think she had a fair point about the baby too. I'd be terrified aswell of it chomping its way out from the inside!

Roll on Friday nights <contented sigh>

Elsqueak Sun 21-Oct-12 11:41:52

Oo yes. That whole conversation about baby eating through her was scary! What a thought!
Have to say, the thought of giving birth and trying to raise a crying baby in the WD universe is frightening. No sneaking past the walkers with a newborn!

Merrin Sun 21-Oct-12 11:49:45

So, how come Rick now hates Lori? What has changed?

cornybeefhashtag Sun 21-Oct-12 11:52:01

I think they resent Lori because she's a burden and takes more than she gives back as she is pg. And it's probably not Rick's baby.

susiedaisy Sun 21-Oct-12 12:56:30

I think she played one off against the other in the last series and got rick all riled up about Shane and Shane turned against rick and then that lead to the incident in the woods where rick ended up killing Shane which he was gutted about obviously and not knowing who the father is hasn't helped matters, although in loris defence she and Shane both grieved for rick believing him to be dead, before having a physical relationship so I don't blame her for that!

Realises I'm taking this way too seriously

God it's a slow weekend in this house!grin

NoHank Sun 21-Oct-12 13:15:20

Yes I thought of that, but Rick wouldn't have known about what Lori said to Shane would he? Unless he figured a few things out after what Shane was saying to him in the lead up to him killing him? I'm guessing he has probably been mulling things over in the last few months because at first he seemed happy enough to raise the child as his regardless and even seemed to forgive her for the affair?

But I still don't get Carl. I can't see why he would suddenly start hating her just because she is pregnant. I would imagine he would just think it is his dads. No reason for him to think otherwise?

And yes, don't send your medically trained person into battle with zombies, pregnant lady or not!

Merrin Sun 21-Oct-12 16:42:28

I think I must have missed something, too much wine while watching perhaps? They were a team, Rick and Lori, making a go of it despite everything, now he can barely look at her. Why?

Bum cheeks, i bloody missed it!
Do any of you lovely mnetters know when or of it will be repeated?wink

ThatVikRinA22 Sun 21-Oct-12 17:25:49

its repeated a couple of times but if you have sky you can watch it on sky anytime - with no adverts! thats how we watched it as we also forgot it was on.....

it started with a bang not a whimper! zombies galore!

Thankyou VivarInaTutu good plan smile

wintera Sun 21-Oct-12 18:07:21

Re Lori and Rick - I think we're supposed to think that Shane has done more damage dead than he ever could do when he was alive. Rick has had to kill his closest and best friend in the world, and it was basically all because of Lori and I also think Lori probably feels guilty about that too so its eating away at their relationship. That's my take on it anyway.

NoHank Sun 21-Oct-12 18:58:43

Yes, that's probably a good explanation wintera I can imagine it has been eating away at Rick since killing Shane. I think Lori passed off the whole Shane thing as the grieving widow falling into the arms of her rescuer and that it didn't really mean anything now that Rick was back. But Shanes version was that it was much more than that, they were in love, and Rick is maybe now wondering if Shane was telling him the truth <another one over thinking things!>

But still, what about Carl??? Why the mother hatred???

Merrin Sun 21-Oct-12 19:25:29

That does make sense. Carl idolises is father and wants to be just like him, maybe that is part of the reason for his behaviour. He would also ave heard what Shane said.

cornybeefhashtag Sun 21-Oct-12 20:48:14

what did shane say?

NellyBluth Sun 21-Oct-12 21:46:50

Does no one else fancy Rick? blush

susiedaisy Sun 21-Oct-12 21:58:35

Fancy no but admire and would want to stick to like glue yessmile

wintera Sun 21-Oct-12 22:08:16

Aww yes I do, have always had a soft spot for Andrew Lincoln since This Life though.

Well, I would say that season 3 has been showing how terrible Shane was in terms of the group dynamic. They are more organised and useful now.

Lori could still die though. I hope...

Oh no hope hershaw isn't going to die, i really like his charactersad

Woo hoo seen it now, getting on this to catch up

wintera Sun 21-Oct-12 23:21:17

It will be interesting to see how Andrea interacts with the group when she meets up with them again. They are very much changed now and she will have missed all the bonding etc that's taken place in her absence.

wintera Sun 21-Oct-12 23:22:57

Plus of course she will find out that Rick has killed Shane, which might not go down too well with her either!

Nightwish Mon 22-Oct-12 09:31:29

I wan to watch Episode 2 now but have to wait til DP is home from work and DS is in bed.
I think they have the best cliffhangers at the end of each episode in any series I have seen.

Didn't andrea get separated right at the end of the last series? She knew abt Shane didn't she?
Is the woman with her the person who was in the hooded gown?
Merrin did you ask your questions?

Fairyjen Mon 22-Oct-12 09:58:57

In the comics Carl is a much harder character than is portrayed in the show, things are going to get very grim for him in this series and I think they toughening him up ready for this. He had no idea about the affair and loved Shane. He heard Shane talking about how he and lori loved each other and the baby etc. also he saw shane and rick try and kill each other.

The woman with Andrea is the hooded figure from series two, she is a major character in comics and is set to be big in the show.

Depending on how show follows comic things are going to be very dark for both lori and Carl.....

NoHank Mon 22-Oct-12 10:27:26

I luff Rick, and yes I always remember him as Egg (who never should have ended up with Milly.....)

But anyway - Andrea doesn't know about Shane. She was separated from the rest of the group before they met back up again with Rick and Carl who were on there way back from killing Shane when the walkers overran the farm. The rest of them didn't find out about Shane until they met up with Rick back at the highway by which time everyone presumed Andrea was zombie fodder.

NellyBluth Mon 22-Oct-12 11:17:02

The end of s2 was a bit of a "hell, yeah" moment for me when Rick finally put his foot down and decided that he was boss.

fairyjen, I might be in a minority here but those are a wee bit like spoilers - might not have seemed like it when you wrote them but if you haven't read the comics then they are, iyswim?

Fairyjen Mon 22-Oct-12 11:44:55

Elsqueak Mon 22-Oct-12 13:10:47

I too luffs Rick...sigh. He's a good egg..sorry for pun!
He genuinely cares about the group and their survival and damn it, he rocks sweaty, southern stubble.

Eerie I like Glen too, but Daryl would be the guy to have on side. He is tough as...

Beyond didn't a face fall off one of the zombies that Rick killed. Delightfully gruesome. grin

BeyondLimitsOfTheLivingDead Mon 22-Oct-12 16:01:47

Yep, when he took the riot helmet off, it came off in the helmet grin

I have #2 here ready to watch, just waiting for a bit of free time...... <darn kids>

VolumeOfACone Mon 22-Oct-12 16:29:13

The Joop advert I have listened to a hundred times. I still can't understand what the man is supposed to be saying. It sounds like "Dad feels so gay". That doesn't really make sense.

Anyway, good first episode!

Elsqueak Mon 22-Oct-12 16:51:42

Yes, what on earth does he say? DH thought that was what he said too but I really couldn't follow it.
Does anyone actually buy/wear Joop? It's been around for years and I've never known anyone like it.

BeyondLimitsOfTheLivingDead Mon 22-Oct-12 16:56:16

#2 was another good one.... grin
No adverts either wink

(My first boyfriend used to practically bathe in joop)

BeyondLimitsOfTheLivingDead Mon 22-Oct-12 17:05:27

I had a thought watching ep1 (yes another one. I take apocalypse telly way too seriously...) if you had to lose a limb in a hostile and far from sterile situation, surely the quickest way to stop it bleeding is to cauterise it? I guessed this, but then I remembered that -SPOILER FOR SOMETHING ELSE- the doctor in saw 1 who cut his foot off was seen cauterising it on a radiator pipe in one of the later films...?

Thats what i thought too beyond- wouldn't they cauterise it?

My dad wears joop, so does dh occasionally-i quite like the smell tbh.
Not too keen on the newer fragrances though!

susiedaisy Mon 22-Oct-12 17:16:39

Yep what does the man say in that advert although I must be getting old cause he looks more like a boy to me!

TwllBach Mon 22-Oct-12 17:48:35

I'm finally getting to watch the first episode <excited>

Are we allowed to talk about it now or are there still some that it would spoil it for?

TwllBach Mon 22-Oct-12 17:55:10

<considers naming fantasy daughter maggie>

susiedaisy Mon 22-Oct-12 18:47:33

I think we are ok to talk about first episode now smile

TwllBach Mon 22-Oct-12 19:03:55

How Tense were the first ten minutes??? Without even talking! And there's so much Lori hate. I am also full of Lori hate. Carl is Muxh less irritating! And I save a girl crush on maggie grin

Eggrules Mon 22-Oct-12 19:13:12

I changed my name during S2 in homage to Rick/Andrew/Egg. I hate this show but MUST watch.

Lori makes me hoick my parental judgey pants up to atomic wedgie status. Why the feck is is automatically sharing a cell with Carole? Does he think Carl (pronounced Coral) is her imaginary friend? Her excuse that he wasn't speaking to her is a load of old shoite. She doesn't even pretend to know where he is.

In my zombie plan, I have reigns on my boy.

anonacfr Mon 22-Oct-12 19:56:10

Should be called where is Carl. grin

susiedaisy Mon 22-Oct-12 20:38:10

I agree, I'd usually be arguing that it was up to both parents, but in this case Rick has most definitely set himself up as the leader, and she's supported him in that. In which case it's up to her to look after Carl. I would not let my child out of my sight, but they seem happy for him to wander off and pretend to be zombie fodder.
That said, how has he aged 5 years in about 7 months? They're definitely setting him up as the next generation rather than the little boy he was in S1. I did feel a bit vomitey when Rick told him he'd be the man of the group - as if he'd be better than all the gun trained adult women confused

Any why they're not taking care of Herschel, as the only one with any sort of medical knowledge/training I'll never know. Though I wouldn't like to be Lori and have him as my "midwife" - he'll have his sleeve rolled up and gloves on before she can have her first contraction grin I think she'll labour at night, with Carol as the only one who knows (oh and Glen, who knows everything)

TwllBach Mon 22-Oct-12 20:55:24

Oh I love glen too. Him and maggie are amazing. Did I mention I have a girl crush on maggie??

Nightwish Mon 22-Oct-12 21:01:11

Love this meme Its is a facebook link for those of you adverse.

Just watched Episode 2. Brilliant again.
Now will the rest of you watch it so I can discuss? grin

Eggrules Mon 22-Oct-12 21:03:36

I agree that it is normally it is for both parents to take equal responsibility. However in this zombieverse Rick is busy keeping the rest of them alive.

BeyondLimitsOfTheLivingDead Mon 22-Oct-12 21:11:53

Oh yeah, i love glen and maggie too. In fact, i love everyone now its nice and whittled down. With the obvious exception of course grin

I hate hate lori. But ep2 has possibly found me softening towards her a bit. A very tiny bit, i must emphasise. I hated being pregnant, had sciatica with ds1 and spd with ds2, and for a minute i imagined what it would be like having to run away from zombies, while not looking after your pfb already, knowing that you have to give birth soon with no real medical help, probably with a vets hand up your nether regions. Having to wholly rely on the men and maggie to keep you safe. Cavewomen may not have minded, but I'm sure women of today would feel infantalised after being used to near equality... (Well, i cant speak for everyone, but i know i would mind it!)

As for carl being mad at lori, i dont know what the "background" will be yet, but i can imagine a child (teen? how old is he?) would be quite annoyed that their mum put their sex life before looking after him. What with th very real possibility that she'll die in childbirth, leaving him mumless in a not very nice world?

BeyondLimitsOfTheLivingDead Mon 22-Oct-12 21:13:26

Especially now he knows (he found out when rick died, didnt he?) about her affiar?

Eggrules Mon 22-Oct-12 21:21:54

I can accept Carl/Coral is angry. I think it is baffling that Lori is so laid back as to his whereabouts or alive/dead status.

anonacfr Mon 22-Oct-12 22:21:03

Holy shit episode 2 was superb.
There were some laugh out loud moments (well for me anyway) and then a rather shocking development.

Next week looks.... interesting.

Melty Mon 22-Oct-12 22:36:50

Just watched it.
V V good.

susiedaisy Mon 22-Oct-12 22:38:26

Grrrr we have to wait until Friday hereangry

Melty Mon 22-Oct-12 22:41:40

Well technically I should be waiting too, but I have an impatient streak. smile

anonacfr Mon 22-Oct-12 22:49:50

Same here... grin Didn't you think there were some truly funny bits?

susiedaisy Mon 22-Oct-12 22:51:23

Goes off to sulk as I cant be part of the conversation yet!

SaskiaRembrandtVampireHunter Mon 22-Oct-12 22:52:06

Watched episode 2 earlier ... very good! Agree with anonacfr, some funny moments, but then it gets a bit dark.

Nightwish Tue 23-Oct-12 09:40:35

One part of it getting dark made me happy though.
I was willing for it to happen and when it did I was shocked but glad.

BeyondLimitsOfTheLivingDead Tue 23-Oct-12 10:13:36

Know what you mean nightwish i was literally sat there open mouthed shock

I am very impatient. Cant want for e3 now!! I should never watch anything until its finished, I hate waiting for the next one...

Regarding the person who went out to the fence, I'll try not to write anything spoilery here, but dont read if you dont want to risk it.... Where are all the pregnant walkers? Which then leads me to wondering, do they carry zombie babies? Will they be trying to chew their way out with their little gummy mouths?

Fairyjen Tue 23-Oct-12 11:12:39

beyond I was wondering that same thing re certain walkers

susiedaisy Wed 24-Oct-12 19:03:36

God this week is dragging waiting for Friday!

AnEerieAirOfHorror Wed 24-Oct-12 19:10:22

roll on Friday.

Blondeshavemorefun Wed 24-Oct-12 19:55:24

Sorry to confuse regards merle

I wondered how long it's been and judging by the bump she must be 8ish mths so 3/4mths since last series

I wondered why they camped an slept outside rather then enter the prison

And when will they run out of bullets?

somewherewest Wed 24-Oct-12 19:58:48

Ep 2 is fab.

Figgygal Wed 24-Oct-12 20:47:07

Just watching Fridays ep do the series opener and really questioning why I keep watching this prog it really is unpleasant to watch......but can't help self

Blondeshavemorefun Wed 24-Oct-12 20:49:19

Night wish and anyone else you can't discuss new episodes till Friday at 10pm

I was a big omfg at chopping his leg off - let alone seeing new humans about

Nightwish Wed 24-Oct-12 21:14:53

But... but I didn't give anything away at all! grin
I think I as very tactile

BeyondLimitsOfTheLivingDead Wed 24-Oct-12 21:53:29

Me too!! grin

BeyondLimitsOfTheLivingDead Wed 24-Oct-12 21:54:11

Well, except mentioning that someone went out to the fence

Blondeshavemorefun Wed 24-Oct-12 22:09:26

Night wish - was replying to your earlier question - once an episode is being shown for the 1st time ie Friday 10pm then any comments are fair game on here

Hence I won't read till I've watched smile

susiedaisy Fri 26-Oct-12 11:25:12

Yippee Friday has finally shown its face!!!grin

AnEerieAirOfHorror Fri 26-Oct-12 15:35:10

6 hours and 30 minutes to go.

The count down begins grin

susiedaisy Fri 26-Oct-12 22:00:02

Here we gogrin

Rollergirl1 Fri 26-Oct-12 22:02:17

Blondeshavemorefun Fri 26-Oct-12 22:07:16

bugger dp is out so not allowed to watch it without him .......................

Rollergirl1 Fri 26-Oct-12 22:07:30

Can someone explain the infection rules? DH says that even if you die of natural causes you're still infected and will come back alive.

susiedaisy Fri 26-Oct-12 22:10:52

Yeah he is right

susiedaisy Fri 26-Oct-12 22:12:25

It's a virus lying dormant in all of them and is 'activated' for want of a better word when they are killed, that's my interpretation anyway!smile

Rollergirl1 Fri 26-Oct-12 22:18:26

So when is the Governor coming?

Oh no not hershawsad

susiedaisy Fri 26-Oct-12 22:46:44

Go rick go!!!!!

yes that's right roller, but also if you're bitten (even if the bite isn't good enough to kill).

Love the way rick has set himself up as semi-benign dictator. Felt so sorry for Lori. Good for Carole - I'd never have had the guts to do what she did.

A few is Beth the ultimate drip still alive? Didn't TJ die early on (obviously not, but ykwim!). And am I being really thick to have got this far and realised that in all the episodes in all the series, none of them have ever mentioned zombies?!

And why does neither parent ever hug or kiss Carl? Poor child.

Bongaloo Fri 26-Oct-12 23:16:00

OMG was that David Morrissey I just saw in the trailer for next weeks?!
It just gets better and better.

Who is he? Was he in Men Behaving Badly? wink

susiedaisy Fri 26-Oct-12 23:19:32

I know Beth wouldn't last two mins In Reality would she.

oh and the main prisoner guy killed the other one who'd been zombified with a pickaxe. Fine, but until you know better wouldn't you be very wary of getting infected blood and guts all over you? And yet he was splattered,

susiedaisy Fri 26-Oct-12 23:20:28

Nooo that's Neil morrissey grin

Well no, and my comment was quite mean given what happened in the last series. But she just comes across as so pathetic. She needs a damn good story line where she saves a few lives and realises she can do it.

Why did carole have to tell glen she was going to hook a zombie?

Bongaloo Fri 26-Oct-12 23:23:46

No no no
not Bob the Builder!

and, being totally practical, it's wonderful that herschel is alive but what the hell are they going to do?! I suppose if there's a medical bit there might be a wheelchair?

ZOG the zombie can we bite it ZOG the zombie YES WE CAN

Seriosuly, they never say the z word and it's taken me this long to figure that out

ZOG the zombie can we munch it ZOG the zombie munch munch munch

I think a large glass of wine on very little food has gone to my head

susiedaisy Fri 26-Oct-12 23:27:12

so go on then, who's david morrisey
and there was a lack of governor in this one. I like her.

susiedaisy Fri 26-Oct-12 23:33:42

I don't actually know what David morrissey has been in before but I've seen his face, but I'm guessing that Andrea and her companion come across him first before rick

Bongaloo Fri 26-Oct-12 23:41:58

you might recognise him if you saw him

Mostly British TV dramas
good ones.

ISeeDeadFairies Fri 26-Oct-12 23:45:10

David morrissey plays the govenor.

Blood splatter doesn't matter as they all carry the infection anyway. The bites kill because they won't heal.

wintera Sat 27-Oct-12 06:46:14

I love's me some David Morrissey!

He's been in loads and loads of stuff. He's a scouser but I bet he doesn't sound scouse in The Walking dead! Imagine that? Would be quite amusing though. I love how quality dramas in the US cast British actors, makes me quite proud actually.

Anyway, David Morrissey was in Our mutual friend, Blackpool, the BBC's Sense and sensibility, Captain Correlli's mandolin, One Summer, he played Gordon Brown in The deal, starred with Jon Simm in the original State of Play which was fab! He was also in that Christmas Doctor Who were there was another Doctor. He's also directed stuff for Uk tv too.

I thought the governor was the woman??

I know blood splatter doesn't matter, but you'd assume it would until told otherwise wouldn't you? And yet main prisoner guy went right in there getting zombie blood all over his face and mouth

Afraid I don't recognise that guy at all, thanks for the link though grin

Elsqueak Sat 27-Oct-12 07:52:49

Yes, if you didn't know how people became zombies you would surely be hesitant about ingesting their innards/blood by accident.
Plus wouldn't it have the most heinous smell, them being dead and all?
Urgh...feel a bit queasy.

BeyondLimitsOfTheLivingDead Sat 27-Oct-12 08:48:28

And now I can ask you all grin
Why are there no pregnant zombies for Carole to practice on??

I watched it at my mums, then spent ages explaining to her that its not fiction, it could happen, and isnt too different to rabies. Taking it too seriously again...

DH started watching series 1 with me and didnt enjoy it. Seeing how much I am enjoying s3, he is giving it another go and hoping to catch up asap smile

BeyondLimitsOfTheLivingDead Sat 27-Oct-12 09:00:58

Plus, surely you'd want to stay as far away from the way too mobile dead bodies anyway, cause of the six million other diseases they'll be passing around, never mind the zombieness!, actually on googling it, all a dead body has the potential to give you assuming they havent contaminated the water is a disease the person had (hepatitis and tb seem the most popular concern)

In other news, it would be very warm, rotting bodies are exothermic grin

NoHank Sat 27-Oct-12 09:46:01

Loved it again. Season 3 going great so far as far as I am concerned. Rick was (as my DS would say) awesome. And slightly terrifying. Carol has come on leaps and bounds.

Still not feeling any kind of anything for Lori though. Carl went off wandering around a zombie infested prison for god knows how long and she only realised when he got back? It's not as if he got lost in a crowd - there are only a handful of them standing around in a locked prison cell and they still didn't notice the little guy disappearing or hear the cell doors being opened.

Plus knowing what they know, would you really try mouth to mouth on someone who had just died after being bitten? And that whole chat with Rick, pretty much telling him to kill anyone who gets in their way. Yes, she is still annoying me.

One thing I have been thinking about re the number of walkers is why are there so many? I'll try and explain! The walkers want to eat living flesh so when they get a grip of you they won't be letting go until there is not much left of you. So wouldn't that mean that most of those caught by walkers wouldn't be turned because there wouldn't be enough left of them? So are most of the walkers the ones that were initially infected months ago and if so wouldn't they have decomposed more by now?

susiedaisy Sat 27-Oct-12 10:05:06

The mouth to mouth thing that lori did to Herschel was pretty stupid!confused daft mare!!

Yeah suzie what if he was about to die & become a walker-she'd have got bitten!

Bongaloo Sat 27-Oct-12 11:34:41

Yep - I had my fingers crossed.

Nightwish Sat 27-Oct-12 14:54:27

Was it just me that loved Darryl's line saying sorry about the guys friend?
I do love him grin.

TwllBach Sat 27-Oct-12 14:55:54

Daryl is immense grin and maggie and glen are my favourite tv couple at the moment!

NoHank Sat 27-Oct-12 15:26:23

I liked that from Darryl too. Showed his sensitive side!

susiedaisy Sun 28-Oct-12 09:55:42

Beth is now taking Carole's place as the drippy dizzy female.

Mewsical Sun 28-Oct-12 10:49:59

Got very confused on Friday night about the start......and then realised that I missed the first episode grin of the new series!! Sky only has on demand/catch up for 7 days so does anyone know how I get to watch the first episode?....Apparently it was one of the best.

I thought Lori was brave. Plus there is a slight lag between being officially dead and coming back, isn't there, so presumably she thought she'd get some warning.

What was Daryl's line? Think I missed it.

Mew, sorry, I don't know sad

Mewsical Sun 28-Oct-12 11:45:45

Ah well, I have caught up, sort of.

Do you remember how long it took Shane to come back though? He'd only just been shot and Rik and Carl were walking away from him!

susiedaisy Sun 28-Oct-12 11:54:17

Yes it took literally about 2 mins for Shane to get back up as a walker!

wintera Sun 28-Oct-12 12:09:13

Dr Jenner did explain about reanimation when they were in the cdc but can't remember what was said exactly. It was something like 'it can take as little as two mins or as long as 24 hours' I think. It varies from person to person.

Nightwish Sun 28-Oct-12 19:39:19

Mew if you want to watch it online I can send you a link via pm to the website I watch them on smile?

IdaBlankenship Sun 28-Oct-12 21:47:56

I have finally got to watch this as DH has been away, and I am too scared to watch it on my own blush
This season is way more exciting so far than most of season 2, I was cheering Rick on when he offed the psycho guy. I hope the action doesn't lag now they are settling themselves in to the prison.
I don't know why they don't head for the coast and find themselves an island, that's my apocalypse plan!

BeyondLimitsOfTheLivingDead Mon 29-Oct-12 14:37:18

I just watched ep3 grin

valiumredhead Mon 29-Oct-12 14:38:57

Gruesome this week! Lots of splattering blood!!! shock

Nightwish Mon 29-Oct-12 16:30:19

Gotta wait til DP is home and DS in bed for ep3.
I would just watch it now and again later but DP would realise I wasn't jumping I think grin.

BeyondLimitsOfTheLivingDead Mon 29-Oct-12 16:45:29

Night, I've been tempted to do that with American Horror Story, but I'd inevitably tell DH what was going to happen grin
Have to wait for him to finish this run of shifts...

IdaBlankenship Mon 29-Oct-12 19:00:54

Oh with regards to the annoying Joop ad, for ages I thought he said "that feels so gay" but he actually rather boringly says "that feels so good"

mildred37 Wed 31-Oct-12 12:54:48

Can someone please PM me a link to watch the next ep online? Off sick and need a zombie walker fix!!! TIA.....

Nightwish Wed 31-Oct-12 13:26:41

Just messaged you mildred.

BeyondLimitsOfTheLivingDead Wed 31-Oct-12 13:52:16

I did too, forgot to reply on here though grin

jojane Wed 31-Oct-12 19:51:11

Just thinking about the whole being infected so when you die you come back as a zombie, could the virus essentially keep you alive so when you die of an illness or injury it brings you back to life - do you think if you encounter neither illness or injury then you would live forever or much longer than normal?

mildred37 Wed 31-Oct-12 19:57:13

Thank you for the links....ooh it's a good 'un! Only trouble Is that now I want to watch the next one....and I can't yet....too impatient!!!!

Blondeshavemorefun Wed 31-Oct-12 20:26:16

So much blood and gore

Glad prisoner man in white top got killed - he was a bad man !!!!

A wheelchair would be handy - well leggy grin

Raaaaaaaar it's back

Oo Er

ILovePonyo Fri 02-Nov-12 22:02:52

I bloody love Michonne! grin

Just thought of something virus related

ILovePonyo Fri 02-Nov-12 22:05:07

Yes super bad ass dreadlock lady! I like to think I'd be like her come zombie apocolypse. In reality I;d prob be like, Carol or Lori or something.

This bit will be griiiim.... grin

I'd try to be her friend smile
Ooh humans

Why hide? Don't understand

ILovePonyo Fri 02-Nov-12 22:09:20

She's ace isn't she.

Bloody rednecks! not like Darryl

ILovePonyo Fri 02-Nov-12 22:09:52

Wait and see! (eek!)

Andrea not tough any more, wonder why

Why were they hiding though? Just from strangers?

ILovePonyo Fri 02-Nov-12 22:14:04

Dont think Andrea was/is tough yet, she needs to toughen up.

I think (and may be wrong) that they are hiding because of Michonne's excellent senses and intuition. I may be biased smile

I should be in bed not watching this!

Ah. She was tough in the last series.

ILovePonyo Fri 02-Nov-12 22:17:20

Thats not Merle?!?!

God this is different from the comic. I'm regretting reading them now sad

Are you asking me or telling me? I think it is, but I'm bad with faces.

ILovePonyo Fri 02-Nov-12 22:20:52

Well, I 'm telling, but don't want to spoil it for anyone reading the thread before watching grin

I don't understand!
(not sure I want to...)

ILovePonyo Fri 02-Nov-12 22:23:18

Tbh I'm a bit confused. That was merle though with a big gun on his hand?!

wintera Fri 02-Nov-12 22:23:32

Why is it not Merle? Looks like him to me!

I'm getting bad vibes from the men, are women safe with them?

Oh she is ill/injured.

Merlea the guy with the spike instead of a hand

ILovePonyo Fri 02-Nov-12 22:25:13

Oh right! So thats the governor shock

TwllBach Fri 02-Nov-12 22:25:38

<butts in>
I'm just starting to watch on sky plus, but why does she have slave walkers? Are they essentially pack horses?

And I agree about Andrea btw - I think she only looked tough last season because it was in comparison to Laurie et al

wintera Fri 02-Nov-12 22:25:47

When I say bad vibes - I mean I'm getting rapist like vibes from them if that makes sense.

Think she has them to fend off other walkers ans to make herself look tough.

Pony will you pm me what you meant, if you can be bothered?

ILovePonyo Fri 02-Nov-12 22:27:06

No it is Merle sorry. Am getting mixed up having recently read the comics, have to stop myself giving spoilers/getting it wrong grin

wintera you are right re: bad vibes...

There's something dodgy isn't there wintera. Good for Andrea for going along with it until they get further. I'd forgotten they didn't know everyone turns

Why would anyone watch Geordie shore? They all look vacant and not a walker in sight

wintera Fri 02-Nov-12 22:29:13

Personally I think the writers have taken notice of criticisms of certain characters. They've made Carole tougher this season. Carl isn't as annoying and T - dog is much more a part of the group now. Think we'll get much better female characters now.

ILovePonyo Fri 02-Nov-12 22:29:27

Sorry Bear I made too much of the merle situation. Getting too involved!

Twll they keep the other walkers away from her. I can tell you who they are if you like? grin

T dogs obv not that much more in te group, I had thought he was dead till last week grin

ILovePonyo Fri 02-Nov-12 22:33:14

I really thought that the fit guy with the white tshirt that Rick killed last week was the governor you know.

I bet Ricks not infected

wintera Fri 02-Nov-12 22:36:47

So glad David Morrissey is now in it! Loving this season its great so far. Very interesting developments.

Ok who were the pet zombies?

ILovePonyo Fri 02-Nov-12 22:39:49

Weeeelll... In the books they were her boyfriend and his best friend. (not that exciting eh)

I'd never heard of David Morrisey before this confused

Me neither.

Other guy seems really familiar though

ILovePonyo Fri 02-Nov-12 22:41:29

wintera Fri 02-Nov-12 22:42:53

I like Michonne she's cool, she's not buying any of it is she? I can see Andrea being sweet talked into staying, she's a bit of a knob to be honest. Bet she'll be grabbing the governors crotch and climbing aboard like she did to Shane in the car that time!

ILovePonyo Fri 02-Nov-12 22:45:47

grin wintera, yes I can imagine Andrea doing that too!

interesting that weve not seen Rick and co so far in this episode, this is the first one without him I think?

No David m's sidekick, geeky guy

ILovePonyo Fri 02-Nov-12 22:51:13

Hm will have to see geeky guy again.

The governors good isn't he! (asin good actor! Harsh)

TwllBach Fri 02-Nov-12 22:51:41

Merle is just like a male Andrea isn't he? Thinks he's all tough but as soon as an actual leader comes along (Shane/the governor) they now down and let them take over.

Do you think he is collecting people to carry out experiments on? Or just women to act as breeders? Is he a bad person in the comics or is he just a less likeable rick?

Guessing they didn't want extra mouths to feed
But they want the women...

ILovePonyo Fri 02-Nov-12 22:53:50

Who the governor? In the comics he's a complete c*nt!

I like the Merle/andrea comparison, v accurate smile

ILovePonyo Fri 02-Nov-12 22:56:00

Ooh that was a good spooky end.

Lori looks like she does something dumb next episode, what a surprise hmm

wintera Fri 02-Nov-12 22:56:57

Is it just me who can't stand Andrea? Husband is laughing cos I just shouted 'you effing dim bitch' at the tele.

That's some aquarium that the governor has eh? Judging by the trailer for next week, Rick and the gang should have killed them two prisoners when they had the chance.

susiedaisy Fri 02-Nov-12 22:57:36

Wow another fab episode, harsh shooting all those soldiers, and what's the fecks with all the heads in water??

TwllBach Fri 02-Nov-12 22:59:07

Oh Andrea is such a whiny loser. Two minutes in a new place and she is already harping on at the cool lady "you know everything about me, tell me you love me, whinge whinge whinge"

susiedaisy Fri 02-Nov-12 23:00:17

I think women would get a shit deal!

Why did they kill the soldiers. Surely if you're going to have any new people, soldiers would be who you'd want. Suppose they may have taken charge.

susiedaisy Fri 02-Nov-12 23:02:14

Yep it would be a power struggle,

ILovePonyo Fri 02-Nov-12 23:04:40

Soldiers may be too regimented... Have a stronger sense of right and wrong...? wink

Overthrow the governor and have them all doing push ups at 6am

wintera Fri 02-Nov-12 23:09:38

The way they took out those soldiers makes me even more suspicious about why they took in two women just like that. I can't wait to see where it all goes now. Especially when Merle and Darryl are reunited!

ExaCtly. Either they don't see the women as a thread (best case) or they specifically want them...

susiedaisy Fri 02-Nov-12 23:28:04

I think they want the women for several reasons, cooking, cleaning, havin kids, etc

NoHank Sat 03-Nov-12 07:55:17

Enjoyed it again but have to admit I did miss Rick and the gang.

I think susiedaisy has it right about the soldiers. They wanted their guns and ammunition but not them. They might feel they have managed to defend themselves so far and don't want to have to explain themselves to anyone else coming in. It did get my goat a bit the way they kept talking about how "the men" defend the walls and "the men" keep everyone safe. Did give the impression the women were surplus to requirements / not really necessary.

I'd like to think come the apocalypse I will be in Michonne's gang waving around a baddass sword and helping to defend whatever walls need defending not babysitting all the kids or learning to make bread which is probably much more likely grin

BeyondGoesOffWithABigBang Sat 03-Nov-12 10:39:38

I assumed it was for breeding, the less tough men could always do cooking and cleaning otherwise. Especially spotting a heavily pregnant woman...

wintera Sat 03-Nov-12 11:16:14

How funny that Rick's gang are probably the less mysogynistic of the two. Last season we were pretty much all complaining about how crap the women characters were. I think there has definitely been a concerted effort to improve the female characters this season though definitely.

How different is the attitude now though that its ok to just kill people? Remember Rick in season one? We don't kill people?! Sad reflection that now its kind of kill or be killed isn't it?

susiedaisy Sat 03-Nov-12 11:42:53

Yeh I agree I think women would be used for breeding and to service men's needs,

Didn't want to say it out loud for fear of derailing the thread!

HarlettOScara Sat 03-Nov-12 11:58:01

Considering the comparative lack of action, that was a fantastic episode! I don't recall ever seeing David Morrissey in anything before but he seems well cast as the psychopathic Governor. Something about him and his engineered community reminded me a bit of Animal Farm.

It's also nice to have a bit of a break from Rick et al. Although looking forward to having them back next week and having to sit on my hands to prevent me watching online before then!

wintera Sat 03-Nov-12 12:30:14

I'm amazed at how many of you have never seen David Morrissey before! He's fab in everything he's in! Did none of you see him in State of Play with Jon Simm then? Or Doctor Who even? I really rate him. First saw him years ago in One Summer on the tele, about two scouse lads running off to Wales. Have had a soft spot for him ever since then.

HarlettOScara Sat 03-Nov-12 12:43:00

State of Play - heard of it but never watched it.
Dr Who - only ever seen a few episodes when Christopher Eccleson was the Dr so unless he was in it then, nope.
One Summer - never heard of it.

Will certainly look out for anything he's in in future, based on just his performance in this one episode.

wintera Sat 03-Nov-12 13:16:38

Don't think many people have heard of One Summer to be honest. It just meant a lot to me when I was a kid. Me and my sister watched it together and it really made an impression on me. Watched it again recently too on DVD. I would definitely give State of play a go though, its really good. Very gripping I seem to recall. Much better than the movie with Ben Affleck and Russell Crowe.

David Morrissey was on radio five live with Simon Mayo and Mark Kermode around the time the movie of State of play was out. They asked him if he would go and see it and he said 'no, it would be like going to the wedding of an ex girlfriend that I was still in love with' I always thought that was a great thing to say!

wintera Sat 03-Nov-12 13:19:26

I would also recommend the BBC's version of Our mutual friend for David Morrissey too. He played a teacher who turned into a stalker type. He was very good in that, very creepy when he was following people around in the shadows.

Nightwish Sat 03-Nov-12 13:42:55

Who was David Morrissey in Doctor Who?
I watch it but didn't really recognise him.

I am waiting eagerly for Monday to get back to Rick and the group.
The version I watched didn't have a preview of next week though so I have no idea what is happening.

wintera Sat 03-Nov-12 13:57:52

For your pleasure - clip of David Morrissey in doctor who

wintera Sat 03-Nov-12 14:01:41

Oh actually, sorry, this is a better clip!

Nightwish Sat 03-Nov-12 21:05:53

Thanks wintera, I definitely watched that episode just don't remember much about it grin.

NellyBluth Sat 03-Nov-12 21:16:29

Wintera, I'm shocked how few people seem to know him too - he's been in everything, he's one of the finest actors of his generation!

That and the fact I spent the entire hour growling at the screen.

Honestly, I could put up with severed heads in an aquarium for David Morrissey. I really could.

To stay vaguely on topic, great episode, love where this series is going, so much better than last series, but.... David Morrissey. I really, really, really would. Really.

cornybeefhash Sat 03-Nov-12 21:43:03

What's in the tea?

VolumeOfACone Sat 03-Nov-12 22:52:38

What's going on at that creepy place? Why are they guarding Andrea and Michonne all the time? Has Andrea not noticed how weird it all is or is she playing along? Interesting!

susiedaisy Mon 05-Nov-12 08:13:04

Omfg don't look on any walking dead FB pages before Friday as the comments contain massive spoilers!!! Made the mistake of clicking on it in my sleepy just woke up state this morning and am [shocked]

Elsqueak Mon 05-Nov-12 09:37:16

YYY, Corny! The tea was most suspicious! What's in it?

Love Michonne's wary watchfulness. That woman is so cool.

Now I know where I've seen Mr Morrissey - Our mutual friend. Wasn't he a bit creepy in that too?
Don't know what's more depressing. The zombie apocalypse or the 'kept women' theme the Gov's got going. Don't think Michonne's going to roll over and take that crap though!

cornybeefhash Mon 05-Nov-12 09:46:08

michonne didn't have any tea did she?
she is indeed super cool!

Elsqueak Mon 05-Nov-12 10:24:15

Ha, it's the tea. Mark my words. I'm going to be watching who drinks it.
They mentioned it twice didn't they. " I come here for your tea" the Gov and to Andrea "how's the tea?" The guy is some sort of scientist isn't he...the plot thickens!

hink iI missed the tea stuff. So implication is that he is drugging them?

wintera Mon 05-Nov-12 10:33:00

I've been thinking about the tea. I hadn't even noticed it till it was mentioned on here!

Could they be trying to build up immunity to the walker virus somehow?

By the way - I've also made the mistake of looking at walking dead sites online. Can't believe what is going to happen this week! Might even try and find the ep now I'm that excited to see it!

susiedaisy Mon 05-Nov-12 11:06:05

The tea? Didn't even notice, might watch it again to see, wintera I know I feel the same but will try to hold out until Friday!

Might even get rid of FB page so I don't end up doing it again.

wintera Mon 05-Nov-12 11:15:38

Yes me too. I'd rather not know and be surprised. Now I'm desperate to see it! Boo hiss!

wintera Mon 05-Nov-12 11:16:49

Maybe the tea is made from the water he has the walker heads in? In that tank?

susiedaisy Mon 05-Nov-12 11:18:04

Eww gross!

susiedaisy Mon 05-Nov-12 11:21:29

Ok have unliked the page for now.

wintera Mon 05-Nov-12 11:23:50

Ha ha yes that is gross. Am just thinking from a 'building up immunity' kind of a way. Mind you, they are all infected anyway though

wintera Mon 05-Nov-12 11:27:04

Much more likely to be wacky backy to keep them all happy and complacent.

HarlettOScara Mon 05-Nov-12 14:54:12

I don't think there's anything in the tea. My theorhy is that tea drinking is seen as a civilised activity so the emphasis on drinking tea is to underline that the Guvnor has a developed a civilised society. I think he wants Andrea to feel like Woodbury is an oasis of calm and a safe haven from the zombie apocalypse so that she'll stay (and convince Michonne to stay too).

Elsqueak Mon 05-Nov-12 15:03:22

Ha ha, tank head water...! Yuck!
Ok, so it might not be funny tea! Why does Gov need them to stay? Can it really just be cooking, cleaning & staring at the ceiling?

mildred37 Mon 05-Nov-12 16:18:43

Has anyone watched the next episode yet??

Tamoo Mon 05-Nov-12 16:22:21

No I think the tea is definitely suspicious, especially since tea drinking is not such a big thing in the US. If it was a UK show it's make us think of normality and civilisation. In the US context it's a bit iffy.

BTW don't google the next episode there are massive spoilers all over the place and it's huge stuff re the storyline, it'll ruin it if you're waiting til the weekend to watch.

mildred37 Mon 05-Nov-12 16:25:47

I won't post anything re: spoilers Tamoo; just wanted to say it is one hell of an episode and I think one of the best for a long time.....I expect many a post come 11pm Friday!!!!

I couldnt stop myself googling the next episode

Elsqueak Mon 05-Nov-12 17:20:22

Argh, crap. That's the absolute last time I google this show! Stupid temptation...

Watched last nights epi. It is amazing. Best for ages.

NellyBluth Mon 05-Nov-12 21:17:43

Can't wait for Friday just so I can talk about this week's episode! Gave in to temptation and DP nagging and watched it tonight.

Rachel130690 Mon 05-Nov-12 22:04:59

I just finished watching this weeks episode eeeep was so good. Need to discuss but don't want to spoil it for others!

Nightwish Tue 06-Nov-12 13:14:59

Ah I watched it yesterday on the way to a gig.
It was VERY good.

somewherewest Tue 06-Nov-12 19:32:43

Ep 4 is indeed all kinds of awesome, even if it did make me cry

susiedaisy Tue 06-Nov-12 19:33:21

This feels like the longest week of my life waiting for bloody Friday angry

BeyondGoesOffWithABigBang Tue 06-Nov-12 21:11:38

Another big up for episode four here grin

FairiesWearPoppies Tue 06-Nov-12 22:42:35

Just watched ep 4. OH MY GOD!!!!!!!

BeyondGoesOffWithABigBang Wed 07-Nov-12 06:58:46

I have yet another taking-it-too seriously question though! Will have to wait til 10.55 on friday to post it though, as its very spoilery...

FairiesWearPoppies Wed 07-Nov-12 07:04:57

Pm me!! I know loads! (major saddo )

HarlettOScara Wed 07-Nov-12 07:15:13

Oh fuck it. I'm never going to make it to Friday. would someone like to PM me with a link where I might catch ep.4 online? Ta muchly smile

BeyondGoesOffWithABigBang Wed 07-Nov-12 08:06:05

Pm's sent to both grin

Think ill have to hide this thread till Friday smile

HarlettOScara Wed 07-Nov-12 08:54:34

Woah! shock

Epic episode! Thanks to beyond for the pm smile

LtEveDallas Wed 07-Nov-12 09:00:58

ToffeeWhirl Wed 07-Nov-12 09:27:47

I am completely hooked on this series, even though I generally hate gore. DH infuriated me by secretly watching the latest episode online whilst I was putting DS2 to bed, but he said it was so good he'd watch it all again. We saw it last night and oh my...!

<drums fingers impatiently and waits for Friday>

FairiesWearPoppies Wed 07-Nov-12 09:59:33

Beyond desperate to dissect this episode god damn having to wait!!!!

HarlettOScara Wed 07-Nov-12 10:18:15

I had to consciously tell myself to breathe a couple of times as I was holding my breath almost the whole episode!

wintera Wed 07-Nov-12 10:44:56

Can someone let me know where they safely watch it? I'm worried about viruses etc you see. Can someone message me a safe site? It would be much appreciated!

Aaaarrgghhhh, just found this thread, I have ep4 on download but DH would kill me if I watched it without him (he's not here in the week), am now getting rather twitchy to have a little peek...

VolumeOfACone Wed 07-Nov-12 12:39:41

Just be careful not to let slip any spoilers you impatient fans!

Wintera I download from Isohunt (you need BitTorrent)

JKSLtd Wed 07-Nov-12 13:56:38

Ok, so I've finally caught up! Have been avoiding this thread until now.

Wow, I love this series so far, and the next episode looks great from the trailer, & what you've all said about it. Desperately trying to resist googling....

That Guv'nor is definitely up to No Good. Wtf are the tanks about?!

Great to see Merle again, though will be weird to see how him & Daryl get on if they meet back up again.
Anyone got any idea where they all are in terms of geography? Is Woodbury anywhere near the prison/farm/Atlanta?

FairiesWearPoppies Wed 07-Nov-12 14:08:36

Woodbury is near the prison.

mildred37 Wed 07-Nov-12 18:37:01

We need a new SPOILERS thread for the impatient among us! grin

Nightwish Wed 07-Nov-12 18:55:13

Yeah a spoilers thread that we can post on from a Monday!

wintera Wed 07-Nov-12 19:00:57

There is a spoilers thread! Someone put one on the other day but nobody answered her as far as I can see. Here it is

mildred37 Wed 07-Nov-12 19:28:14

Thanks wintera! Have posted and will stay there til Friday now [grins]

ToffeeWhirl Thu 08-Nov-12 00:12:33

Thanks, wintera. Am meant to be going to bed, but will just have a quick peek...

Right - am going to watch it NOW, God Damn you all.

How am I going to get through the next 36 hours??
DH missed last week's and decided he was going to wait till the series finished so he could watch them all. But I begged and pleaded and he is now going to watch last weeek's at 9 tomorrow and then obviously the new episode is on straight after.

susiedaisy Thu 08-Nov-12 08:25:34

I'm holding out so far, only one more day!

<holds susie's hand>

susiedaisy Thu 08-Nov-12 10:03:03

NoHank Thu 08-Nov-12 12:45:54

I went to bed last night happy in the thought that when I woke up it would be Friday. Then I realised I was wrong <sob> and I have to wait another day

<sits on hands and refuses to look at spoiler thread>

HarlettOScara Thu 08-Nov-12 13:37:51

This series is taking over my life! I dreamt last night that the village my parents live in was in the grip of a zombie apocalypse...I stabbed one through the eye with a barbeque skewer grin

Fully intend to watch episode again when it's shown tomorrow night in full 42" HD glory.

so is the spoiler thread always just one week ahead? Ie can I read it tomorrow night straight after the episode? Or should I steer clear of it entirely?

Rachel130690 Thu 08-Nov-12 14:04:41

It's just one week ahead. We all watch it either Sunday or Monday and wait for everyone else to catch up on Friday.

right. Will read the spoiler thread on Friday night at 11 then

NoHank Thu 08-Nov-12 17:43:35

See you there SHRIIEEEK!

wintera Thu 08-Nov-12 21:10:05

I've had a few bad dreams about the walking dead too. Not nice at all. Keep getting all worked up in the dream and waking up in a bit of a state. I'm like a bloody kid who has just watched something scary!

Happy Zombie day!

wintera Fri 09-Nov-12 07:02:20

I'm going to have to wait even longer before I can watch it! Going to the cinema tonight with a mate so will have to watch tomorrow instead.
