Poor Sid, might be good too see that later on with more techniques.

Thanks Sparkling. Checking in. smile

I like Sid. smile

AndiMac Sat 13-Oct-12 19:56:15

I'm going out on a limb here, but I like Tess's hair tonight.

TheAngelshavetheOod Sat 13-Oct-12 19:57:12

It's quite nice & suits the top half of her dress..

I think it would be easier for them to do a good salsa if they chose better music.

Oh no. It's the bloody Adele stalker song now. hmm

The music has been quite bad this week ....

TheAngelshavetheOod Sat 13-Oct-12 20:00:31

Don't like this one.

sailorsgal Sat 13-Oct-12 20:00:37

I thought it was X Factor when I heared this song. grin

Stop shouting at her Len. sad

Get your cushions ready to hide behind....

TheAngelshavetheOod Sat 13-Oct-12 20:05:18

Here goes....

Is she more or less bonkers that Nancy Doolallyo from last year?

sailorsgal Sat 13-Oct-12 20:06:04

I love her accent!

Shoshe Sat 13-Oct-12 20:07:00

cant stand her argggggg

sailorsgal Sat 13-Oct-12 20:08:06

poor Anton, always gets the duds. grin

Beautiful dress and she is actually dancing as far as I can tell.

sailorsgal Sat 13-Oct-12 20:09:11

Yes the dress is lovely.

Too vertical. wink

Please please please let this be brilliant....

I hate Gerry.

Wolfcub Sat 13-Oct-12 20:14:10

Fingers crossed

TheAngelshavetheOod Sat 13-Oct-12 20:14:24

Jerry to go? Or the cricketer?

Can't look.

Wolfcub Sat 13-Oct-12 20:15:39

Love the opening

BettySuarez Sat 13-Oct-12 20:16:16

I bloody love Lisa grin

Awww. I loved it.

Wolfcub Sat 13-Oct-12 20:18:27

It was a bit car crash in the middle

So what do we all think after week 2 then?

BettySuarez Sat 13-Oct-12 20:20:12

Darcey is doing my head in though - at least every sentence is not peppered with "okaaayyy" like last week

coffeeinbed Sat 13-Oct-12 20:20:35

Boring guy in the middle to go.
Cricketer?

Wolfcub Sat 13-Oct-12 20:23:37

I think jerry is for the chop

I think that's about right Matilda. Is it results tomorrow even thought they just carry on and do i after this?

coffeeinbed Sat 13-Oct-12 20:25:19

I think Denyse will be this years Jason Donovan.
Good dancer everybody dislikes.

chocolatetester1 Sat 13-Oct-12 20:29:21

Jerry's hair seems to be weighing her down, wrecking her posture, very strange.

AndiMac Sat 13-Oct-12 20:31:12

I'm still catching up and just saw Sid. I really enjoyed his energy, despite what Len said.

Sorry. I disappeared. Never rely on a 3yo to do what you want. hmm

I'd get rid of Jerry and the tv bloke.

I have to say I really enjoyed it though.

Saltire Sat 13-Oct-12 20:41:44

Personally I'd get rid of Brucie grin

Skillbo Sat 13-Oct-12 23:43:14

Been catching up so will have to be brief as my computer has already eaten this post twice this evening!

Loved Lisa & Robin but that's because I adore Robin - he seemed genuinely delighted to have got Lisa as his partner. She can go as well - great footwork and I only saw her viennese waltz without sound but they told a lovely story from what I saw!

I also like Louis but not as much as I'd hoped! I know a very close friend of his and I was interested to see how he'd come over - bit serious but I reckon he'll start flying at some point and blow everyone else away!

Wit bedtime/bathtime conflicts, I missed lots of the dances but I also adore Kimberley & Pascha... Pascha for being just lovely and Kimberley for being so beautiful and down to earth and lush (quite a girll crush here and has been for years)

To go - the dull as dishwater cricketer - god, he is so dull, his voice sends me to sleep and he just has no personality that I can see. I can't even remember who his partner is given that afterwards he just fades into the background.. He should be in the dance off with Jerry or Sid (sorry, am sick of the sight of Ola with her belly out - just waiting for the first catsuit - urghhh!)

Scrumptiouslyyummy Sat 13-Oct-12 23:46:22

Fern was fabulous.
DVO is a vain pain in the ars3.
Lisa is a heffalump.

PanonOlympus Sat 13-Oct-12 23:52:28

Well, that was a night and a half!
Nikki just doesn’t want to be there. Free style dancing, and he never ever actually recognises he has a partner, despite her touchy-feely stuff. Almost sulky. Be gone.

Danni – wow! The lifts and twirls and energy and just going for it.

Not keen on Darcey giving Erin Ballroom advice – that could have grated…..a bit.

Vickie, Vickie, Vickie! – Hoping she gets through!
Bruno “Give me the axe!” to the cricketer. grin
And Louis – isn’t he just cute….
Shouldn’t DvO come with a handicap? Surely?

Ola- cough…she can twist herself - I thought Sidney was fab.
Kimberely’s dress – wowser! But she looked drained and washed out.

Jerry - "He's a nice tall drink" comment was so funny, I thought...

Cameraperson - stop missing the dancing, please – way too close and the OTT twirling means we get the atmosphere but at the cost of proper viewing.

The JS curse existed when Len was 'told off' for offering Lisa posture lessons after the show - Brucie said something like ' Steady/easy, we'll have none of that', though I could be reading too much there.

TheDailyWail Sun 14-Oct-12 01:17:25

I like DVO and I like Sid.

Darcy really tries to give constructive feedback that is relevant.

Olbasoil Sun 14-Oct-12 07:45:52

Fern is annoying
I like Sid, Lisa, Louis and Denise.
Bring back Iain, I miss him !

Olbasoil Sun 14-Oct-12 07:48:54

I like Darcy, slightly irratitating "yehs" at the end of sentences but is forgiven. Mind you next doors cat would be better than Alisha " look at me I'm soooooooo wonderful" Dixon.

TheAngelshavetheOod Sun 14-Oct-12 09:31:49

I like that Darcy evens out the scores. Was getting annoyed at constant 10s from Alesha last year.

Mrsjay Sun 14-Oct-12 10:51:26

just wanted to say hello and find my spot, thought rickaay sid was a bit blush he had the enthusiasm but not the hip action, Denise is really annoying me,
I do like Dani and vincent they are lovely, jerry Hall is just annoying she is all hair and teeth and her drawl drives me bonkers really awful . I think the cricketer will go tonight.

Mrsjay Sun 14-Oct-12 10:53:04

and I would like to second the Lisa and Robin love they are fab I do think they thought Lisa would be an anne widdicome type character but she isn't she is fab

ppeatfruit Sun 14-Oct-12 11:56:43

IMHO B.F. is now too old grin he should retire gracefuly rather than be kicked out. yes theone I've got a feeling that G. thinks she's SOOOO amazing daaaarling.

Vulgar Sun 14-Oct-12 12:01:04

Lisa is fab. Pure entertainment.

Love Louis, he is so cute but he does need to look like he's having fun. Feel a bit sorry for him when Brucie embarressed him about fancying Kimberley. That would have killed any budding romance.

Absolutely cannot stand DVO. She has to go.

ppeatfruit Sun 14-Oct-12 12:08:17

Yes deffo to whoever said DVO should be handicapped it's not fair that someone who's actually a DANCER should be judged in the same way as the others and she'd supposed to be injured isn't she? i like her partner though.

FrankelSaysRelax Sun 14-Oct-12 12:10:41

Didn't get a chance to post last night, but wanted to say that I agreed 100% with Len's assessment of Kimberley's Foxtrot. I couldn't believe it when the other 3 judges gushed about how wonderful it was: she stumbled several times, I didn't see any heel leads and she looked like she was hanging on for grim death at some points,

Don't get me wrong, it wasn't awful, but it certainly didn't deserve all the sugar coating the 3 sisters gave it.

Was surprised at Len's high praise of DVOs Jive, she looked like she was kicking a football during her kicks n flicks! [picky] grin

Never caught up with the last thread, but hope you don't mind me jumping in.
Louis is great, just needs to relax a little. Denise was great last night but not convinced she's going to be consistent. Erin didn't look as though her heart was in it last night, she's never won and she knows she won't this year, did you see what she was saying about Richard on It Takes Two, about him constantly kissing her, yuck.

I think Jerry or Michael will go, Jerry is just too busy being Jerry and Michael just isn't very good

Mrsjay Sun 14-Oct-12 12:18:49

I think Kimberly is a dancer too though well they did dance routines IN girls aloud so dancing experience , I do try hard to Like D V O but I can't she is just too oh i dunno peppy . I really like james Jordan he is loads of fun and a bit naughty sometimes, DD1 pointed out Anton is the only dancer that looks like a ballroom dancer I hadn't noticed before most of the men look all buff and pumped up not that that is a bad thing at all wink

picturesinthefirelight Sun 14-Oct-12 12:26:29

Kimberley danced in Shrek - very high energy including tap.

threesocksmorgan Sun 14-Oct-12 12:29:38

I like DVO but don't think she should be in it as she seems to know too much.
I like the Johnny
Mr Ball is too old.
westlife boy is dire
Love SId
Danny is good
Kimberly is annoying
Jerry is odd...she should act her age.

picturesinthefirelight Sun 14-Oct-12 12:29:56

From googling the part time stage school she attended offers lots of dance classes so it's likely she would have had quite a bit of training pre girls aloud

LadyClariceCannockMonty Sun 14-Oct-12 12:43:51

Don't like Denise. Think she'll reveal herself as a cow and half later on.

Jerry's OK but a bit 'coquettish' and old-fashioned. Stiff as an ironing board though.

Michael V is a weirdo.

Louis is too pretty and too serious-faced. I suspect him of having no personality.

Agreed with Len on Kimberley being 'limp' and it didn't feel like a foxtrot. Nice dress though.

Danny and Vincent were cute as all get-out. Liked their song.

Johnny B is my fantasy dad and clearly adores his partner.

Sid is creepy.

On the fence about Richard; is he great or smarmy? Hmmm.

Didn't like Lisa trying to be a 'princess' (don't generally like grown women trying to look/be like princesses) but she is a great natural dancer and v musical and she and Robin actually look as though they're dancing together, which is great to watch.

Fern and Artem also appear to be enjoying dancing together and they were good.

Victoria was much better, classy routine and good frock.

Thingy Salmon needs a taller partner. Not fair to put him with Kristina and watch him struggle.

Couldn't care less about Westlife chap – he's up himself – although clearly it was his partner's fault that the routine looked like a pop video.

Is that everyone?

I think Vaughan might go. Or Jerry.

ScatterChasse Sun 14-Oct-12 12:48:44

I enjoyed last night (it was very long though!).

Ivana's dress was absolutely lovely I thought. She seems really nice too. Can we keep her please?

I agree with Frankel about Kimberley's foxtrot, she looked really quite wobbly, not very controlled.

Flavia and Louis's was nice, but slightly like being hit in the face with a Valentine's card... and he really needs to smile unselfconsciously! The song, the dress etc. were lovely, but the heart-shaped trees and the projected path on the dance floor were OTT.

I didn't really like Erin and Richard's dance (although I like both of them), but I might be a miserable old killjoy as I see no reason why ballroom/latin should be camp (especially not the waltz FFS Bruno!). I did laugh at the signpost though grin I also laughed when Darcey said 'A note for Erin...' or whatever... Erin didn't look terribly impressed.

Denise was good, Jerry and Nicky have awful posture and Colin should never have been paired with Kristina.

IMHO of course. I'm looking forward to tonight smile I might even MN in real time.

cocolepew Sun 14-Oct-12 12:55:55

Jerry has done the 'head tilted to the side look at my wonderful hair routine' for so many years I doubt she could actually hold her head up straight now.

cocolepew Sun 14-Oct-12 13:00:36

I cheated and read the result on Digital Spy <zips lips>

I still don't know why I don't like DVO. I can't watch her presenting because she comes across as the least sincere person ever. But the lovely Lee Mead married her and he wouldn't marry someone awful would he?

<makes effort to try harder to like Denise>

ScatterChasse Sun 14-Oct-12 13:16:29

She doesn't bother me, I don't know why. But I didn't like her hair last night.

Ditto Pasha, Louis, several others actually.

TheAngelshavetheOod Sun 14-Oct-12 13:21:37

Louis reminds me of the sportsman a few years ago whose name escapes me. Rugby player, went quite far but v limited personality. He just used to sit & smile in interviews. Louis probably has a bit more than him though thinking about it.

Anyone else sneak a look at Digital Spy spoiler and now feel a bit grubby?

ProphetOfDoom Sun 14-Oct-12 13:28:29

Message withdrawn at poster's request.

SoupDragon Sun 14-Oct-12 13:38:10

I don't think DVO is a dancer. She said in an interview that it's a common misconception and that she had one dance routine in Chicago which basically involved her mainly sitting on a chair.

Done smaltzing grin

ScatterChasse Sun 14-Oct-12 14:05:48

I would think DVO is a good 'cheat-y' dancer, as in she can present stage dances and make them look good, but I don't know how much technique etc. she'll actually have.

(I'm only guessing that because I used to do lots of ballet and tap, but in school performances I often did modern/musical theatre stuff, when I didn't know the names of the steps or anything but still usually ended up near the front because I made it look good. I'd have been torn apart if I'd had to take an exam in it though!)

picturesinthefirelight Sun 14-Oct-12 14:24:57

DVO trained at Italian Conti do she would have done a lot of dance classes there.

I saw her in Legally Blonde &midst of the dancing was the MT Stacey style as described above.

FrankelSaysRelax Sun 14-Oct-12 14:30:45

But ballroom and latin are totally different to the kinds of dance that DVO, Kimberley, etc will have experience with. The technique is totally different, you have to learn precise foot positions, room alignments, etc. it's a very involved style of dance. Latin you can almost fake your way through by wiggling your backside about wink, but ballroom is very unforgiving.

AndiMac Sun 14-Oct-12 14:31:37

I don't where DVO gets off saying she's only done one dance routine in Chicago. Unless they changed it considerably for her to play the part, the character Roxie Hart dances quite a bit in the musical. Sure, it's not with a partner and it's not ballroom, but it's still a heckuva lot more training than most have.

But, I never really thought it was a problem when Jason Donovan was on last year with a similar background, so I think I'll let it go.

I do want to big up Colin Salmon. He's 6'4", which is usually a handicap in itself on the dance floor in terms of moving lightly and quickly. But he's done really well in both Latin and Ballroom the first two weeks. Not top of the leader board, but considering he doesn't come from a dancing or athletic background, I think he's doing great and hope he stays in for a long time.

Mrsjay Sun 14-Oct-12 14:36:08

I have a bit of a silly swoony crush on colin blush

Me too Mrsjay. grin

I have been over to Digital Spy to be grubby but can't find the grubby bit? Where am i looking?

cocolepew Sun 14-Oct-12 14:43:17

It' s the spoiler thread, really long one. If you want you know I'll pm you.

cocolepew Sun 14-Oct-12 14:45:16

Go onto SCD on the forums and it's the second to last one on the first page atm.

Mrsjay Sun 14-Oct-12 14:45:18

Me too Mrsjay.

grin he is really lovely not in that PHWOARR way but in a sigh way

AndiMac Sun 14-Oct-12 14:45:54

Mrsjay and TheOneWithTheHair, I don't think it's silly as all - he's very swoony!

ppeatfruit Sun 14-Oct-12 14:47:07

OOH yes COLIN's gorgeous grin

Thank you. If I am still being dim I will shout. grin

ProphetOfDoom Sun 14-Oct-12 14:48:10

Message withdrawn at poster's request.

ppeatfruit Sun 14-Oct-12 15:17:35

I thought that DVO went to Sylvia Young maybe I'm wrong but when in a stage school it's hard not to do dancing that's for sure! I don't know if Jason Donovan went full time to stage school.

schmaltzing whisper it!!!grin shock no it's okay !!!

Nope, still do not like DvO.

I think Victoria was still nervous, but was better this week. That clip of her dancing last week with Brendan, away from the audience, was really good so I think it is audience nerves.

I still like Kimberley. Louis is good, but not sure on his personality - is he shy? Sid and Fern, nice so far. Colin should have been paired with a taller dancer.

Mrsjay Sun 14-Oct-12 15:23:28

Isn't Kristina a tall dancer though she is the tallest ?

SoupDragon Sun 14-Oct-12 15:23:58

So, because she went to stage school and probably did dancing there, 20 years later she should be given some kind of handicap in Strictly?

SoupDragon Sun 14-Oct-12 15:24:50

Am not a closet DVO fan by the way! just find it odd grin

Mrsjay Sun 14-Oct-12 15:26:55

I am not bothered if DVO went to stage school and can dance and I just have a thing about her that she grates on my nerves, I really don't think it will give her an advantage because voters will vote who they like not who is the very best dancer, like chris thingy the other year I was hmm when he won,

FrankelSaysRelax Sun 14-Oct-12 15:27:15

Kristina is either 5ft 3" or 5ft 5", depending on what webpage you believe!

Natalie is 5ft 10" so would have been far better for Colin.

Mrsjay Sun 14-Oct-12 15:28:15

IT is natalie I was thinking of not kristina I got the partners mixed up I did think natalie was with colin blush

<Nips in to mark place>

mummytime Sun 14-Oct-12 15:45:16

Several of them have stage school/dance backgrounds eg. Dani and Lisa.

twofalls Sun 14-Oct-12 15:57:58

It's really bugging me why kristina was partnered with Colin. He should have been with natalie surely? Or Erin is probably taller than kristina. It would be like putting danni with Brendan. Anyone know how they choose?

noddyholder Sun 14-Oct-12 16:01:57

DVO is at an advantage with her shape. If you aren't the right shape a lot of the dances look wrong. The girl from tracey beaker is quite good but is not dancer-y in the body. Boobs spoil the line and you need skinny arms and legs. I think Sid Owen looks like he could be good and Kimberley maybe.

FrankelSaysRelax Sun 14-Oct-12 16:49:13

I think Erin is 5ft 6 - I seem to recall reading her stats and thinking she was the same height as me.

LetUsPrey Sun 14-Oct-12 17:29:04

Loved Louis and Flavia, and Lisa and Robin.

Let me get this straight, Colin is very tall and Dani is tiny? You'd think someone on the show would have mentioned it.

Couldn't watch Michael's jive. Nicky wasn't very good but I don't think Karen's doing him any favours with her choreography. The judges seemed to praise lots of the other dancers for their choreography last night. It felt a bit "diggy" at Karen. I have no problem with that grin.

Most of the others were okay.

I always thought height was a factor in the pairings, plus last tears winner always gets a no hoper. Anton always gets a no hoper, but I suspect that rule is unwritten.

Yes LetUsPray I noticed that about he compliments to other routines and not to Karen. I guess since Craig had a go at her last week it would look bad if they criticised her again.

Wasn't there also some barbed comment about Anton's bloody awful as usual because he's taking the mickey routine?

Aliona's routines were always poor in her first series weren't they? Can't remember who she danced with but we always said they were 'mememe' to showcase her. Which is maybe the way proper professional routines are done, to show of the lady? But on Strictly you would need yo show off your partner be they male or female? Is that the case? <clueless - looks to one of these clever types with dance experience>.

AndiMac Sun 14-Oct-12 18:04:13

I don't have any dance experience, just Strictly watching experience. And to me it seems the pro will highlight their own dancing if their partner can't do much with any type of flair. Think Anton doing practically a solo routine when partner with Anne Widdicombe.

TheAngelshavetheOod Sun 14-Oct-12 18:55:34

Claudia just shows how crap Tess is.

I LOVE CLAUDIA! And what the jeff is Tess wearing ???

Wolfcub Sun 14-Oct-12 18:58:10

Don't like Tess's dress at all

Colin is soooooo sexy.

What is Tess wearing tonight? I thought last night's was bad enough!

Wolfcub Sun 14-Oct-12 19:05:17

What on earth is wrong with the voting public

TheAngelshavetheOod Sun 14-Oct-12 19:06:00

Poor Johnny. He wasn't the worst.

Poor Johnny. sad

Agree about the thing covering Tess. Awful.

TheAngelshavetheOod Sun 14-Oct-12 19:12:43

I like Victorias dress

coffeeinbed Sun 14-Oct-12 19:13:34

No!
Cricketer stays.

coffeeinbed Sun 14-Oct-12 19:13:59

Oh sorry, got it wrong!

ScatterChasse Sun 14-Oct-12 19:14:27

Oh no! I like both of those sad

I hope Richard goes out. Don't think he will though.

TheAngelshavetheOod Sun 14-Oct-12 19:14:45

Gutted at Jerry staying

Wolfcub Sun 14-Oct-12 19:17:09

Anton looked devastated

We'll get her next week Angels!

I've never seen a more deluded woman. MIL says she finds her fascinating. I asked her if it was in the same way one is fascinated by car crashes. She was not impressed with me.

Wolfcub Sun 14-Oct-12 19:18:45

WTF is this europop shit

ScatterChasse Sun 14-Oct-12 19:18:54

What on earth is this rubbish? I'm too old...

Gah! I hate the fact that people vote for anton and his corny piss take routines. Not that I vote so I have literally no right to grumble but hey ho! Also to be fair I don't think they are quite as ridiculous as in past years. I just don't like him much confused

Dd just said this is the worst song she's ever heard. She's nearly 9. grin

What a bizarre song.

ScatterChasse Sun 14-Oct-12 19:20:01

At least if Johnny goes out we won't see much of Aliona I suppose...

I love johnny sad

ScatterChasse Sun 14-Oct-12 19:22:12

And Iveta's so nice sad

That dress is absolutely gorgeous.

Yes beautiful dress. Dd says she's orange though.

sad

Wolfcub Sun 14-Oct-12 19:25:51

Poor johnny

sad

TheAngelshavetheOod Sun 14-Oct-12 19:26:24

sad

ScatterChasse Sun 14-Oct-12 19:26:30

sad There are lots I would have liked to go first sad

TheAngelshavetheOod Sun 14-Oct-12 19:26:43

Poor Zoe on ITT sad

Oh yes. She'll still be proud though.

ScatterChasse Sun 14-Oct-12 19:27:57

grin at the song choice for his second partner!

He seems like a lovely bloke sad

EdgarAllanPond Sun 14-Oct-12 19:28:51

every time Forsyth does that 'Keeeep dancing' thing, the look on Tess Daly's face is

'get your hands off me, you filthy perv'

he could leave the show, i wouldn't cry.

I wouldn't cry if Bruce and Tess left. I want Claudia to present.

EdgarAllanPond Sun 14-Oct-12 19:30:12

Flavia made her 'joke' competitor look good through sympathetic choreography (Russell Brand) - no need for Antons treatment of his dance partners.

TheAngelshavetheOod Sun 14-Oct-12 19:33:52

Anton also has a run of partners who don't try. Anne W wouldnt do anything she saw as raunchy, The Italian woman argued everything and Jerry is apparently doing the bare minimum.

digerd Sun 14-Oct-12 19:38:25

You are right, I think it is a disgrace and humiliating for him, but he's always gracious with some tongue in cheek remarks, but is always smiling. I love his graceful moves.

Mrsjay Sun 14-Oct-12 19:39:37

Jerry Hall still thinks she can cock her head to 1 side and smoulder , no dearie dance !

Mrsjay Sun 14-Oct-12 19:40:56

(Russell Brand)

you mean Russel Grant grin I can't see Russel Brand doing strictly he is too busy being Rusel Brand sex god <shudder>

I would love to see RB on SCD. blush Who should he partner?

smellsabit Sun 14-Oct-12 19:56:13

i would have liked johnny to stay
want Louis to do well but so stiff
love Colin
love Lisa!

TheAngelshavetheOod Sun 14-Oct-12 20:02:13

Like
Colin, Lisa, Sid,Louis, Victoria, Dani

Don't like
Jerry , Richard, micheal, DVO

Can't remember the rest so I think they come under 'not interested' blush

digerd Sun 14-Oct-12 20:10:37

Christina is only 5foot 2-3", plus her high heels - Natalie is the tallest and the most elegant dancer.

PanonOlympus Sun 14-Oct-12 20:20:35

"At least if Johnny goes out we won't see much of Aliona I suppose.." shock.

She'll be back as first reserve for when Niki's partner pretends to be ill.....

digerd Sun 14-Oct-12 20:30:20

Last year I and my sister ( who teaches ballroom and latin) loved HARRY, but he was also shy but did have "it" and he improved. This year we are both disappointed that there is nobody who has real talent. Amazed as everyone at Lisa's twinkletoe movements, and love of the dance. I do like the Westlife guy's face, but he has got a lot of training to do to get "it", if he has it as not sure. I was also shocked at Christina been given that really tall guy and knew his posture could not be any good with such a short partner. I was bored on Saturday, for the first time ever, and was on Mumsnet most of the time, not even the music lured me to watch, and didn't know the results were on tonight. I love Bruno, and Craig's frankness - he does know what he is talking about, but can be too cruel. My sister would be a much stricter judge than Len!!!

Mrsjay Sun 14-Oct-12 20:33:20

I would love to see RB on SCD. Who should he partner?

Ola Jordan their egos would explode grin

TheAngelshavetheOod Sun 14-Oct-12 20:42:09

Ooh and the reaction from James could be interesting too grin

Mrsjay Sun 14-Oct-12 20:43:39

James would go all Puffy chested and start wandering about like a cock

Mrsjay Sun 14-Oct-12 20:43:52

Ach I meant cockrel grin

digerd Sun 14-Oct-12 20:46:51

To Andimac Bang on. Logical really.

digerd Sun 14-Oct-12 20:49:00

Mrs Jay - Love your wit. Chuckle every time

FrankelSaysRelax Sun 14-Oct-12 20:49:29

I was chatting to my teacher about Strictly at my lesson this morning. She said she wishes that the first 2 or 3 weeks the pros were restricted to basic choreography only (say no higher than Bronze), so that the celebs could have the chance to learn the basic principals such as contra body movement, sway, hip action, etc. unfortunately it wouldn't make for "exciting" television.

For those of you that know your dance coaches, my teacher tells me that Lorna Lee was in the running for Len's job before SCD started. Now she would have been a tough judge grin

ScatterChasse Sun 14-Oct-12 21:12:27

Yes, my teacher was saying they all try to run before they can walk.

Like Kimberley's foxtrot...later in the series that could have been really lovely, but she just wasn't good enough to dance it well.

EdgarAllanPond Sun 14-Oct-12 21:13:17

" I can't see Russel Brand doing strictly he is too busy being Rusel Brand sex god <shudder>"

smile

whoops! i meant russell grant, though i do think of russell brand as being the bastard child of Jo Brand and Russell Grant...

Mrsjay Sun 14-Oct-12 21:15:34

are any of you old enough to remember the old come dancing before it became celeb I can remember watching it on my portable with dials <ancient> in my bedroom.

TheAngelshavetheOod Sun 14-Oct-12 21:15:45

I thought that about a few dances last night. I know nothing other than what I See on Strictly so am not clear on what sort of level Bronze would cover but I agree that a limit would be useful and make it easier to compare. I'd also rather they were tied to 2 or 4 dances to choose from for the same reason.

Mrsjay Sun 14-Oct-12 21:16:13

i do think of russell brand as being the bastard child of Jo Brand and Russell Grant...

Oh good god what a thought shock

digerd Sun 14-Oct-12 21:18:17

My sister can't fault the 2 World Latin Champions Joanna Leunis and the american girl - the latter being very balletic and the former being earthier, but both brilliant in their own way. But can't expect that standard from the Strictly Celebs, of course. Just hope some will improve to make it exciting again.

DorsetKnob Sun 14-Oct-12 21:19:47

I am MrsJay

digerd Sun 14-Oct-12 21:20:43

ps. I like to see the men enjoying and being in character in the ballroom, but they tend to have problems with looking comfortable in the latin, bless them.

Mrsjay Sun 14-Oct-12 21:21:25

I think you should all look out for Dani Harmer I do think she is going to be the 'dark horse' and is going to be brilliant ,

digerd Sun 14-Oct-12 21:30:49

Mrsjay in the words of ? Forgotten the name." Oh you are awful, but I like you"!! Chuckle again

Mrsjay Sun 14-Oct-12 21:32:12

? *Forgotten the name *Dick Emery and thank you grin

Skillbo Sun 14-Oct-12 21:34:27

I was sooo sad to see Johnny Ball go - there was no way he was better than Michael daddance Vaughan! I am glad Richard is still in though but there's no way those to should have been in the dance off as there were far worse couples with a lot less going for them... ah well, I guess I should vote if I really want a say smile

Will be a bit sad to see ITT on Monday when Zoe says goodbye to her dad. I was looking forward to some nice bits in the weeks ahead but hopefully he will pop back?

Louis does have a personality, or so I'm told - I think he must be a bit startled bunny in the headlights. Hopefully he'll start to relax - must be intimidating to be catapulted like he has and he's still only young (23)

Anyway - am glad Strictly is here, feels like we're really into Autumn.

Skillbo Sun 14-Oct-12 21:35:37

blush I meant there was no way Johnny Ball was worse than Mr Daddance!

digerd Sun 14-Oct-12 21:36:12

Mrsjay. The old come dancing - what year was that? Remember the Black and White Minstrel Show, that mum and dad used to sing along to, and the Tiller Girls high kicking routines, and Bruce Forsythe dancing with Janet Ball (in black and white tv) He was very good - ballet dancing he was

Mrsjay Sun 14-Oct-12 21:37:51

OH I think it was early 80s the old come dancing with Julia Morley and I am positive Judith Chalmers presented it

digerd Sun 14-Oct-12 21:48:09

Mrsjay - re Jerry, I think she just looks a bit pathetic trying to look much younger than she obviously is, and should act her age with dignity as we all do !!!! Don't know how to do the funny faces

FrankelSaysRelax Sun 14-Oct-12 22:06:47

My teacher also pulled Darcey up on telling Jerry she needs to lean away from Anton. There's so much more to it than that! It's about pulling up and rotating away from your partner, not "leaning".

Her posture is exaggerated I know, (and yes I've posted this video before grin) but I find this video utterly mesmerising. My teacher keeps telling DH that he should watch Chris Hawkins as much as possible!

LetUsPrey Sun 14-Oct-12 22:08:23

Poor Johnny sad.

Won't be sorry to see Michael Vaughan go. Sort of like Jerry, but she can go soonish too.

ScatterChasse Sun 14-Oct-12 22:28:28

The thing is, Anton is a ballroom specialist. Hold and frame I'd have thought would have been something he'd drum into her!

PanonOlympus Sun 14-Oct-12 22:58:09

MrsJay - I think Come Dancing was a 1970's thing. Possibly even 1960's. Loved the way they'd introduce the dancers (male) by occupation: "And here is Trevor, doing a challenging and exhuberant pasa doble.....<pause>...Trevor works in a chip shop in Grimsby".

PanonOlympus Sun 14-Oct-12 23:01:45

From Uncle Wiki:

Come Dancing was a BBC TV ballroom dancing competition show that ran on and off from 1949 to 1998, becoming one of television's longest-running shows.

The show was created by Eric Morley, the founder of Miss World, and began in 1949 by broadcasting from regional ballroom studios, with professional dancers Syd Perkin and Edna Duffield on hand to offer teaching.

In 1953 the format changed to become a competition, with later series seeing regions of the United Kingdom going head to head for the coveted trophy.

The many presenters over the years included Peter West, McDonald Hobley, Charles Nove, Terry Wogan, Brian Johnston, Angela Rippon, Michael Aspel, Noel Edmonds, David Jacobs, Judith Chalmers, Pete Murray, and Rosemarie Ford. Commentators included Ray Moore and Bruce Hammal.

In 2004, a re-launched celebrity version entitled Strictly Come Dancing, hosted by Bruce Forsyth and Tess Daly, debuted on BBC One, and became a popular hit on Saturday evenings. The format of the newer show has been successfully exported to other countries under the name Dancing with the Stars.

FrankelSaysRelax Mon 15-Oct-12 06:47:20

I don't remember Come Dancing (too young wink) but I do recall watching a video of a youngish Len dancing on it, possibly doing a Jive.

digerd Mon 15-Oct-12 19:12:00

Anyone old enough to remember Brucie and Janet Ball - 60s. dancing ballet. Brucie wore black tights and Janet in white flowing dress- it was in black and white on out TV? He was very good. Do remember the old Come Dancing now, but it was for amateurs mainly and the dancing nothing like it is today. I used to like the Old Tyme, which is not done anymore. Just watched ITT

FrankelSaysRelax Mon 15-Oct-12 19:53:10

My teacher still teaches/exams Modern and Classical Sequence, is that what you mean digerd?

iklboo Mon 15-Oct-12 19:54:09

Marking place so I can find thread!

NapOfTheDamned Tue 16-Oct-12 01:54:01

Me too.

Expat watchng it days later and missing home.

It bugs me that everyone's doing different dances. I wish they'd go back to celebs doing either a Latin or a ballroom but the same one. Everyone chacha's or waltzes this week. Everyone salsas or American smooths next week. If you had a Latin this week, you'll ballroom next. At least they've abandoned the boy girl nonsense and gone back to everyone getting to do two dances of each type before voting. Annoyed that dance off had returned. The judges shouldn't get two says in who stays or goes. Wonder if johnny or Richard was at the very bottom?

LadyClariceCannockMonty Tue 16-Oct-12 09:02:50

I agree, dazzling! It's hard to compare dances if everyone's doing different ones. I don't know if they think viewers will get bored if they have to sit through everyone doing the same dance or something???

Don't like the dance-off either. The judges may know more about dance than the public, but it's the public who watch, vote and make the show work; we deserve more of the power than them.

TheAngelshavetheOod Tue 16-Oct-12 09:12:24

Without the dance off you get good dancers going and Ann Widdecombe staying.

Interesting conversations on BBC breakfast regarding DVO

LadyClariceCannockMonty Tue 16-Oct-12 09:49:18

But that's the viewers' choice. Viewers/voters do know that people like Ann W can't dance; they're not stupid – they don't need the judges to tell them who's good and who's bad. It's about popularity as well as dancing.

And it always plays out the same – someone rubbish/the 'novelty' dancer gets a decent run and stays for a while, but eventually gets kicked out when viewers get serious and start supporting the better dancers instead.

ppeatfruit Tue 16-Oct-12 10:02:43

In SOOO many progs. not just SCD the producers seem to think that we'd get bored if e.g. all the dancers did the same dance. That's actually a very good idea 'cos the public can then see how good or bad each couple is. I just saw yr namelady grin we seem to watch similar things don't we?

LadyClariceCannockMonty Tue 16-Oct-12 10:28:55

Hello ppeat! Yes, we do 'bump into' each other quite a lot when it comes to telly.

Meant to ask, Angels – what was the DVO/BBC Breakfast conversation?

TheAngelshavetheOod Tue 16-Oct-12 11:04:38

They were interviewingJohnny & talking about other competitors. DvO was discussed with Bill talking about her previous stage experience giving her an advantage and Johnny trying to be tactful. Didn't come across like any of them particularly liked her as Lisa got the opposite reaction.

LadyClariceCannockMonty Tue 16-Oct-12 11:20:00

Interesting! I had a feeling she might be a beee-yatch; there's been at least one 'slebs you've met' thread on here where people didn't have kind things to say about her.

And of course MN is the fount of all wisdom and never wrong. grin

ppeatfruit Tue 16-Oct-12 12:15:21

I've heard that as well Lady not just on here grin did you notice the way she deliberately ignored Tess after her showy jive ?

Denise was taking the mick out of James on ITT last week, he didn't look impressed, I always think he has a bit of a sense of humour failure. Out of all the male professionals he's my least favourite.

RedBlanket Tue 16-Oct-12 21:35:46

I noticed Denise put her arm round Tess and she pushed her away. hmm.

ppeatfruit Wed 17-Oct-12 10:04:35

Obviously something negative has gone on between DVO and Tess behind the scenes grin

LadyClariceCannockMonty Wed 17-Oct-12 15:35:44

I didn't notice that between Tess and DVO, no! Will keep my eyes peeled from now on.

Mrsjay Wed 17-Oct-12 15:38:04

tess probably didn't want DVO face in her shot thats all they are supposed to stand on their mark, I don't think there is tension sorry

Idreamofsunshine Wed 17-Oct-12 15:42:07

How lovely was Iveta, I'd like to see her join the show permanently as she seemed so sweet and nice to Johnny.

tkband3 Wed 17-Oct-12 15:46:06

They had the same set of questions on Radio 5 yesterday morning when they interviewed Johnny and Iveta (who does seem lovely - much prefer her to Aliona!)...maybe the BBC has some sort of agenda or is just trying to stir up some anti-Denise feeling for some reason?

gettingeasier Sat 20-Oct-12 16:46:09

ppeatfruit Sat 20-Oct-12 18:43:29

I'm warming to Jerry now I liked her hair all clipped up and the fact she admitted to getting her stamina up. Don't forget she must be in her mid 60s grin

Orenishii Sat 20-Oct-12 18:48:23

DH met Louis a few days ago when he came into DH's workplace for a promo shoot. DH, normally quite laid back and relaxed kinda guy, said Louis was rude and arrogant, and lacking in basic manners - which doesn't massively surprise me, he does come across like that and what happened in the gym kind of confirms it.

This week - for once - am loving Tess' dress shock

AmIthatScary Sat 20-Oct-12 18:49:14

ewww Bruce...<boak> <whistles to self to distract from disgusting old man "humour" >

TheAngelsHaveTheOod Sat 20-Oct-12 18:49:43

Me too on Tess dress shock

Loving Brendan's costume ...

lucjam Sat 20-Oct-12 18:51:21

Evening ladies, I liked Ferns dancing. Does anyone use the red button for the commentry, I just tried it found it too distracting.

TheAngelsHaveTheOod Sat 20-Oct-12 18:52:30

Dress problems sad

Oops to the bum flash. Victoria was better but she really needs to learn to spot!

I liked it.

lucjam Sat 20-Oct-12 18:53:09

Poor Victoria costume fail! It seems to happen to everyone these days.

Orenishii Sat 20-Oct-12 18:53:29

While still having a long way to go, and being positioned around a lot by Brendan, Victoria is definitely improving - a lot more sass and finesse in her movement.

fuzzysnout Sat 20-Oct-12 18:56:51

I want to like Victoria cos she's a national treasure & all that but I just can't warm to her & Brendan's no Richard Gere.

OddBoots Sat 20-Oct-12 18:57:34

I'm all about Colin, it's time to stop worrying about height, he's just fab*

*This might have something to do with him being a local boy and the fact he sent my daughter a very kind message yesterday.

lucjam Sat 20-Oct-12 18:58:52

Here comes Michael, not a favourite of mine, due to go I think.

chipstick10 Sat 20-Oct-12 18:59:01

Cant stand Denise Van Outen. Would like her out please.

Or Richard to go. Can't stand him.

lucjam Sat 20-Oct-12 19:03:29

Me too Chip but she's too good reckon she will be in final three, I think its unfair when they get people that have done dance training angry

AmIthatScary Sat 20-Oct-12 19:03:56

*oddboots what did he say. Don't like the chin much, so happy if her and Michael go <ooh i'm a bitch lol>

LittleBairn Sat 20-Oct-12 19:18:42

Sid looks like poor mans version of Johnny Depp, Pirates style.

I like Jerry. I like her lack of ego.

TheAngelsHaveTheOod Sat 20-Oct-12 19:19:17

It's a 10 from me for hideous outfits.

LittleBairn Sat 20-Oct-12 19:19:38

turningvioletviolet Sat 20-Oct-12 19:20:16

Sid looks like he might cry. Was rubbish mind.

LittleBairn Sat 20-Oct-12 19:20:28

Bless him Sid looks like he want s to cry. grin

MrsVincentPrice Sat 20-Oct-12 19:21:15

Watching on catchup. Can't believe the judges were watching the same dance from Victoria as I was - she was being hauled around by Brendan like a sack of spuds, but they are treating her like she's a nervous twelve year old who should be praised for not crying.

I was very disappointed by Natalie choreographing a routine for Michael so simple that he couldn't cock it up entertainingly, but then he redeemed it by cocking up the "sitting down on his arse for another few bars" bit at the end.

I liked Jerry though I'm pretty sure it was rubbish from an objective dancing POV.

ScatterChasse Sat 20-Oct-12 19:21:28

Jerry's downstairs was neat and tidy <snurk>

fuzzysnout Sat 20-Oct-12 19:21:48

Agree chips. She is very self depreciating which always seems at odds with her image. I like her for that.

ScatterChasse Sat 20-Oct-12 19:22:27

Sorry, that was for LittleBairn. Darcey completely collapsed into giggles.

LittleBairn Sat 20-Oct-12 19:24:17

PMSL scatterchase will have to watch that part of catch up. grin

Kimberley wasn't bad. She always looks like she's enjoying herself.

I loved Fern's dress. Perfect for the older lady (like me). Now I just need the same in midnight blue to see me through the Xmas season grin

LittleBairn Sat 20-Oct-12 19:29:36

I hate these clips they are so contrived.

LittleBairn Sat 20-Oct-12 19:30:18

That's not Jessie's outfit!

Orenishii Sat 20-Oct-12 19:31:49

I wish they did the clips of them practicing properly like they do with Dancing on Ice - drama from a non-warmed up leg kick, getting dizzy from spins, throwing tantrums about not getting steps...that kinda thing.

Was DvO's dance incredibly short??

TheAngelsHaveTheOod Sat 20-Oct-12 19:32:37

Felt short

LittleBairn Sat 20-Oct-12 19:32:55

That was quick I only went into the kitchen for 20secs to put a pizza in the oven!

That was so short. hmm They should halve the scores.

Orenishii Sat 20-Oct-12 19:34:02

I said hello to my cat, and it was all over!

BelleCurve Sat 20-Oct-12 19:34:36

Short but quite borimg. No wow factor. I don't think the music choices are helping tonight

OddBoots Sat 20-Oct-12 19:37:01

It did seem very short, I thought it was just me.

chipstick10 Sat 20-Oct-12 19:37:25

I feel quite angry when Denise appears on my screen. I know its really unreasonable but i cant stand her and i loathe James, the worst couple combo for me.
Pendelton is dreadful. Another fiona philips, being lugged round the floor, unable to move her hips or even walk a dance step.

OliviaMumsnet (MNHQ) Sat 20-Oct-12 19:38:14

OMG I have to work but am I seeing things? Colin and Kristina - this is ECAVTLY the dance Karen did with Mark Ramprakash isn't it?!?!

LetUsPrey Sat 20-Oct-12 19:48:21

Just timed DvO's routine. It was 25 seconds before they actually got in hold and started dancing. They stopped dancing at 1m17 and walked over to the toybox and sat down. It finished at 1m25. Was a bit yawny though TBH I've always found that with James's routines.

Just watched Colin and Kristina's AT. Quite liked it. Disappointed that anyone is doing an AT at this stage of the competition.

I meant Bruce not Craig. Bruce talked down to her after talking normally to robin,

LittleBairn Sat 20-Oct-12 20:04:27

Anyone see Jerry fiddle with her dress/boobs? grin

vigglewiggle Sat 20-Oct-12 20:04:29

Did Robin slip? Why are they saying the floor is slippery?

TheAngelsHaveTheOod Sat 20-Oct-12 20:04:40

Totally forgot about Nicky

AmIthatScary Sat 20-Oct-12 20:06:02

ooohhh I don't think I like this pro. They should really have kept the lovely Katya

Chubfuddler Sat 20-Oct-12 20:06:06

The dog skidded across the dance floor I laughed

Chubfuddler Sat 20-Oct-12 20:07:07

God he's like a different person this week. Is it a tally him under that green paint?

fuzzysnout Sat 20-Oct-12 20:07:09

Love Lisa, but the "i'm a dead cheeky northerner, me" thing is getting a bit old now.

I don't like it when they have props and dress up. Is it just me? I like it to be normal with lovely outfits.

LetUsPrey Sat 20-Oct-12 20:07:20

Nicky's really not very good is he? I like the skirt part of Karen's dress.

LetUsPrey Sat 20-Oct-12 20:07:58

Contradictory cross-posts!grin

LittleBairn Sat 20-Oct-12 20:08:42

I assumed it was Halloween week with all the dressing up.

Is Mrs Dec still the make up artist?

fuzzysnout Sat 20-Oct-12 20:09:30

Don't like the green face or the dance.

LetUsPrey Sat 20-Oct-12 20:10:00

Obviously ignore me re Nicky! Although I did say something to DS1 about Nicky's bent knees.

TheAngelsHaveTheOod Sat 20-Oct-12 20:10:08

Need less dancers. My attention span doesn't last for the whole programme atm blush

lucjam Sat 20-Oct-12 20:10:11

I think it's Mrs Ant who is a make up artist?

Yes, you are right lucjam got me Ant and Dec mixed up there. blush Lisa Armstrong isn't it?

LittleBairn Sat 20-Oct-12 20:11:15

Sid still looks pissed off in the background.

lucjam Sat 20-Oct-12 20:12:01

yeah sparkling pretty sure she is called Lisa

I don't like Louis at all no connection very much a longer . Guess some is because gymnast are solo by nature but he seems missing personality

LittleBairn Sat 20-Oct-12 20:13:12

Didn't she do the dirty dancing dance with Matt during his year?

lucjam Sat 20-Oct-12 20:13:31

ohhh exciting

whiteandyelloworchid Sat 20-Oct-12 20:13:50

is it me or is that woman dancing with nicky pawing at him, feeling up his chest all the timeshock

Ooh is he going to do the lift?

On Take two anyone else see they were sat right apart

That was a bit cringey.

The song cover is dire!

He's just...better I suppose but he had the perfect opportunity to do the Swayze'd walk dance and he blew it!

I no like him.

TheAngelsHaveTheOod Sat 20-Oct-12 20:16:04

Yay I love dirty dancing

But is it a bit cheaty to dance a well known dance

LetUsPrey Sat 20-Oct-12 20:16:11

I enjoyed that. A lot. Lots of eye contact. Lots of wiggling.

OliviaMumsnet (MNHQ) Sat 20-Oct-12 20:16:25

LOUIS TO WIN
<Gavel>

TheAngelsHaveTheOod Sat 20-Oct-12 20:16:38

Hate the booing.

That's what I thought Angels and try to match up to the late great Patrick Swayze was a bit of an ask.

PuffPants Sat 20-Oct-12 20:17:08

He's very intense...in a good way.

lucjam Sat 20-Oct-12 20:17:39

I liked it but not sure about him

YankeeAlphaBooingUniform Sat 20-Oct-12 20:17:52

I so need to watch Dirty Dancing tonight ....

TheAngelsHaveTheOod Sat 20-Oct-12 20:18:23

Aw sparkling I forgot he died sad

LetUsPrey Sat 20-Oct-12 20:18:25

If I was in the audience and didn't agree with one of the judges, I wouldn't be booing. I don't like the booing either Angels.

TheAngelsHaveTheOod Sat 20-Oct-12 20:19:18

I think he is so used to being focused in his own world and it's a big challenge to mix with people.

LittleBairn Sat 20-Oct-12 20:19:23

I hate the booing too what do they think they are watching the X factor!

TheAngelsHaveTheOod Sat 20-Oct-12 20:20:07

The judges aren't even being particularly critical at the moment.

LetUsPrey Sat 20-Oct-12 20:20:56

Oh bloody hell - Hallowe'en week next week. More themes.

TheAngelsHaveTheOod Sat 20-Oct-12 20:21:15

Does anyone vote? I cant choose at this stage. I could vote who is to go but want loads to stay

CunningPlan Sat 20-Oct-12 20:22:10

I totally agree that it was cheating. Not Cricket IMHO.

Orenishii Sat 20-Oct-12 20:23:05

I literally cannot go another week of Strictly having not given birth yet!

LetUsPrey Sat 20-Oct-12 20:24:19

Didn't James and Pamela Stephenson do a routine very similar to one of the routines in Dirty Dancing. She wore a white dress. I think.

lucjam Sat 20-Oct-12 20:24:37

oh well thats that for another week, off to watch the x factor now, can't keep up with the x factor thread it moves so quick, night all

ScatterChasse Sat 20-Oct-12 20:26:51

Wasn't that from Ghost LetUsPrey? That was their Viennese waltz I think.

pinkteddy Sat 20-Oct-12 20:28:09

Voting Sid and Ola, think he's still got a lot to give. Loved Louis tonight though!

LetUsPrey Sat 20-Oct-12 20:35:26

Just had a quick Google. It was their free dance in the final that was from Dirty Dancing. I just remember it was quite similar to some of the moves in the film, but I think when it's a routine to a song linked to a specific routine IYSWIM there's always going to be some similarities. I don't think I've explained it well but hopefully you'll get the drift!

MrsVincentPrice Sat 20-Oct-12 20:37:24

I'm voting Colin because he is well fit innit did a good job given that he was handicapped by having so few hours to practice and doesn't have quite enough points to be safe. And Richard because he was comfortably the best dancer out of the people placed in the bottom half and is improving rapidly. And Dani because DD insisted.

cocolepew Sat 20-Oct-12 20:39:39

Bruce gets worse every week he actually makes me cringe.

Loving Dani and Vincent, I think she is given much harder, or maybe more, steps than a lot if the others (I know nothing btw grin)

I want Michael to go. Jerry's not great but was trying harder this week.

cocolepew Sat 20-Oct-12 20:42:33

Oh and Olivia is officially my favourite HQ'er. I worship His Shortness Prince too grin

ScatterChasse Sat 20-Oct-12 20:45:16

Ah right. I know what you mean- like Harry and Aliona's jive to Greased Lightning.

If I were voting this week, I'd go for Richard and Erin.

Saltire Sat 20-Oct-12 20:50:18

When brucie said that they were sometimes only getting 3 judges comments due to time issues I thought "well shut the fuck up with the stupid jokes that no one laughs at and there'd be more time"

AmIthatScary Sat 20-Oct-12 20:55:17

Gosh Saltire;....................yes, what you said x 300 grin

cocolepew Sat 20-Oct-12 20:57:17

Absolutely Saltire, he can't even read the autocue.

ScatterChasse Sat 20-Oct-12 21:03:47

I thought some of the jokes were quite good tonight blush

The Olympians not liking bronze...the 'Howzat' one with Michael...

Pancakeflipper Sat 20-Oct-12 21:10:17

OOh I loved Louis and the Dirty Dancing little number ( sorry I am watching it on SKY+

Not been bothered by him until tonight. Oooh.

AmIthatScary Sat 20-Oct-12 21:32:27

Forsyth is a fuckin joke. But he will stay as long as there are people who think that he is a "national treasure". < and I'm ashamed to say that some of these people are MNers shock >

ScatterChasse Sat 20-Oct-12 21:36:22

No, he is sometimes a bit embarrassing now. He can't react quickly enough to anything going off piste.

He doesn't wear an earpiece does he? That cant help either.

2rebecca Sat 20-Oct-12 21:56:21

I'd love to see the back of Brucie. Have always found him creepy and unfunny. The BBC is poor at ditching its male national treasures.
Louis to win, I want Victoria, Jerry and Michael to stay in and one of the women I've never heard of to go, or Denise because she shouldn't be there anyway, or the bloke with the big nose who is cringingly camp who I've never heard of either and was in the dance off last week. I want a real celebrity to win.

Saltire Sat 20-Oct-12 23:02:59

Finally caught up on the last few dances that I missed.

notyummy Sun 21-Oct-12 07:54:57

Just catching up with this thread. My thoughts:

Thought Vic P was better tbh, but still very 'on edge'. Rumba is hard dance though.

Liked the staging of Colin's AT and the lifts but will agree he didn't dance much.Seemed early for an AT to me.

Enjoyed Lisa and Dani. Thought Ola had lost the plot with that Tango staging for Sid. Richard Arnold better than last week. Michael V seems like a nice guy but not improving fast enough.

DVO and Kimberly both looked good....but then they should. Slightly resent Kimberly for being so gawjus but that is me being a bitch.

Louis was good but not as good as it could have been. He is still trying to be too cool. I have to admit I did enjoy watching it though!!

Thought Nicky Byrnes characterisation at the start of the dance was great. He really got into it- lesson for Louis.

cocolepew Sun 21-Oct-12 09:49:34

The result is on Digital Spy if, like,me, you can't be bothered to wait grin

Off to feel dirty and have a nose cocole. Ta.

cocolepew Sun 21-Oct-12 09:52:44

At the risk of sounding like a prude, I was a bit shock at the lack of Kristinas dress.

That result will do me nicely. And free up an hour tonight. wink

suburbandream Sun 21-Oct-12 11:01:44

I'm so glad Louis pulled off the lift! He's my favourite and I adore Flavia but it's a shame they just don't seem to have much of a personal connection. Their version of Dirty Dancing was brilliant but still not as good as Paddy and Keith's here grin
Poor Sid seemed so upset, hope he doesn't go this week sad

Animation Sun 21-Oct-12 11:12:32

I agree - great dance by Louise and Flavia, but not much connection. I suppose there's time to work on that.

Aw Sid WAS upset. They were a bit meanie pants to him!

TheAngelsHaveTheOod Sun 21-Oct-12 11:42:44

Think the risk with Louis & Flavia was that the dance is so well known , dh has never seen dirty dancing and I've just shown him the clip , he preferred L&F as a dance but L is lacking in personality compared to PS.

Checking in for the results show

FrankelSaysRelax Sun 21-Oct-12 19:33:01

Oh and can I say it was sacrilege to use GoldenEye again for an Argentine Tango. That sing belongs to Mark and Karen. Kristina also ripped off Karen's "fingers across the eyes" thing!

TheAngelsHaveTheOod Sun 21-Oct-12 19:33:04

Me too!

TheAngelsHaveTheOod Sun 21-Oct-12 19:43:38

Yay at Jerry in dance off

TheAngelsHaveTheOod Sun 21-Oct-12 19:44:43

VP not coping with the tension

MaryZed Sun 21-Oct-12 19:45:28

Anyone want to give me a commentary? I can't watch.

<offers [gin] as bribe>

FrankelSaysRelax Sun 21-Oct-12 19:47:08

Jerry and Michael in the dance off.

Victoria crying, again.

[helpful]

TheAngelsHaveTheOod Sun 21-Oct-12 19:47:20

Micheal & jerry in dance off.
VP & RA in tears of relief.
Dionne Warwick performing.

I am starting to find Victoria's histrionics a wee bit tedious.

TheAngelsHaveTheOod Sun 21-Oct-12 19:47:58

No gin for me , got any oranges [pregnant & craving]

Tess in another awful dress.

Love Dionne.

cocolepew Sun 21-Oct-12 19:48:34

Victoria is getting on my nerves, why is everyone treating her like she's a child?

TheAngelsHaveTheOod Sun 21-Oct-12 19:49:13

VP is so competitive.

Professionals feet move so fast

Saltire Sun 21-Oct-12 19:50:03

The judges do seem to be treating VP a bit like a spoilt child who musn't be told off.
