Is anyone else watching this? This week we had a nice gratuitous shirt off scene for Erik and Bill and one of the best insults I've ever heard..

Sounds good smile I'm watching it but not live as I'm the only fan in this house

wintera Fri 05-Oct-12 21:18:08

I've stopped watching it now I'm afraid. I've really gone off it, watched the first ep of the new season but don't think I'll be bothering anymore. Such a shame as I used to really love it too.

IdaBlankenship Fri 05-Oct-12 21:19:58

Its best viewed as a secret guilty pleasure I think! The thing I like about it, is that it is an equal opportunities nudity show - plenty of lovely men's buttocks on display!

IdaBlankenship Fri 05-Oct-12 21:22:13

wintera - I nearly lost it after some ridiculous plots in the middle seasons, but last season was not bad, and this one is shaping up OK so far. A nice Jason storyline, but Tara is wearing thin with me now

ArtfulAardvark Mon 08-Oct-12 00:31:12

I think last season was brilliant, particularly near the end.

Im particularly happy to see Christopher Meloni as I was devastated when his contract wasnt renewed on Law & Order.

IdaBlankenship Mon 08-Oct-12 13:16:51

ArtfulAardvark I agree that last season had more momentum than it has had for a while although I think that they always have too many storylines running at once to really engage with one.
I really like the Erik and Bill double act scenes and I love Pam.
Christopher Meloni - who he?

susiedaisy Tue 09-Oct-12 12:52:35

Quite touched at the Eric and Pam scene where he released her from their blood bond!!

notimetotidy Tue 09-Oct-12 14:52:50

Cannot believe I've missed the beginning of this series! It's only thanks to this thread that I even realised the new series was back on, so thank you!

I need a re-cap of the first three episodes - anyone!

Many thanks

IdaBlankenship Tue 09-Oct-12 19:37:58

Quick recap:
Sam was beaten up by the werewolf gang to reveal the whereabouts of the gang leaders body. Alcide admitted that he killed him not Sam. This makes him the de facto pack leader now but he rejected it – it all got a bit growly.
Sam & Erik were arrested by the Authority for killing Nan Flanagan, Eriks “sister” (some British vampire who he shared a maker with) tried to help them escape after some vampy sex with Erik, but they got caught and tortured. The Authority was going to execute them but they told him that the crazy vampire from a few seasons back (the one who killed the newsreader on live TV) wasn’t actually dead and that they would kill him for the Authority – so they are now out on vampire parole (which involves an electronic stake being put over their hearts).
Tara was shot at the end of the last season by Alcides crazy ex, so Sookie and Lafayette begged Pam to turn her into a vampire, which she did. Tara was mightily pissed off about this and has gone all angsty and bloodthirsty. We are getting some nice flashbacks to Pam’s real life before she was made a vampire, when she ran a brothel, and how she met Erik.
Umm there’s still some tomfoolery going on between Jason and Jessica, but Jason is starting to feel used and is sad about the quite staggering amount of sex that he gets..
Phew - that wasn’t such a quick recap after all – have I missed anything out?

notimetotidy Tue 09-Oct-12 20:01:33

Wow!!! Thanks Ida. I know I am sad but I love this series grin

IdaBlankenship Tue 09-Oct-12 20:04:23

Even when its having a duff episode (or series - I'm looking at you Maenad-thingy) it still is one of the better things on TV. I bet Anna Paquins / Stephen Moyers twins are very cute!

Figgygal Tue 09-Oct-12 20:32:59

Wtf why has it not been advertised? Well missed the first 4 eps .....crap!!

susiedaisy Tue 09-Oct-12 20:34:31

I know there was hardly any hype about it before it started again, vamp diaries and the walking dead start next week for anyone that's interested!

IdaBlankenship Tue 09-Oct-12 20:37:44

Figgygal they are still showing ep4 on FX this week, so all is not lost.
Susiedaisy looking forward to Walking Dead although it literally scares the bejeezus out of me, zombies terrify me!

cookielove Tue 09-Oct-12 21:28:04

It's soooo good i've seen it all i have to say i was sooo annoyed that Tara lived she is rather annoying, and total tear jerker scene mention above about Eric releasing Pam (sob)

Blondeshavemorefun Tue 09-Oct-12 22:12:14

excellent recap smile

and yes jason gets a lot of sex!!!!

IdaBlankenship Wed 10-Oct-12 14:25:02

Well it helps that Jason is rather easy on the eyes! Actually I think he & Pam are my favourite characters. I used to love Lafayette, but he is a lot less sassy these days, and as for Tara - ye gods! I wish she had remained deaded on the kitchen floor.

BoulevardOfBrokenSleep Wed 10-Oct-12 14:33:46

They haven't really done anything with Vampire Tara yet, have they. Maybe she'll have some gripping storyline later in the season?

IdaBlankenship Wed 10-Oct-12 14:37:19

Oh I know, but she has been in a permanent bad mood for at least 3 seasons now (I'm sure with good cause given her storylines) but they seem to have lost the smart, ballsy Tara that I liked in Season 1

WitchesWreakinHavoc Wed 10-Oct-12 14:40:20

I have watched every one. I must say this season is not as good as the rest imo. there is a good cliffhanger ending though! not sure how next season will pan out confused

I love TB, can anyone recommend any other programmes I might like?

IdaBlankenship Wed 10-Oct-12 20:18:27

Witches how come you have seen them all already? envy
I'm not normally a sci fi / fantasy lover so not sure I'd be any good at recommending stuff. I'm looking forward to the Walking Dead being back on, but that hasn't got the humour of True Blood obviously (or Alexander Skarsgards bottom)!

ArtfulAardvark Wed 10-Oct-12 23:30:27

Ida - Chris Meloni is Roman in this series of True Blood (the one who staked the boy!) he was Elliot Stabler for years in Law & Order.

Will be interested to see what happens with True Blood now Alan Ball is moving on to a new series.

Am loving Pam in this series, she was always a favourite in the books.

cookielove Thu 11-Oct-12 22:13:18

Witches yes i totally loved the ending, although some what predictible no? and yes hmmm what will happen!! I don't understand why there are only 12 episodes per season, when clearly all the fans want more, it would be better if they did the usual 20 or so, then they wouldn't have to shove so many storylines in one episode, don't ya think?

IdaBlankenship Thu 18-Oct-12 19:55:45

I liked this weeks episode - I really liked it when Sookie vommed onto Alcide and Erik and Bill made their sarky comments whilst they lounged in the doorway. Tara actually smiled, so that was nice, and the story seems to be picking up pace. How many more eps are there this season? The Russell storyline looks like its coming to a head, but it can't be over so soon, can it?

susiedaisy Fri 19-Oct-12 08:22:23

I thought Russell's comment about them all making a hell of a noise whilst 'quietly' sneaking through the deserted house to find him was funny!!

IdaBlankenship Fri 19-Oct-12 09:19:22

Russell was funny - vampires seem to have an endless line in sardonic one liners.
Oh, but that room of trussed up people was disturbing.. the trouble is that True Blood is way too camp to actually be very scary

susiedaisy Fri 19-Oct-12 10:59:26

Yeah I was a bit hmm when they didn't help that poor bloke strung up, at least cut him down and let him have a chance!

IdaBlankenship Fri 19-Oct-12 17:15:03

So I may not have been paying quite enough attention to the plot (temporarily dazed by Alcide's torso), but who actually dug up Russell then?

susiedaisy Fri 19-Oct-12 17:19:24

Um I don't know either, but Alcide looked hot!grin

Elsqueak Fri 19-Oct-12 17:35:10

He he! Have you seen him in the Tobey Maguire Spiderman? He's Flash Thompson!
Love Trueblood. It's becoming a bit barmy but take it for what it is and it's great. Love Pam & Jason!

IdaBlankenship Fri 19-Oct-12 18:41:51

Alcide is crazily buff - does he take his top off in Spiderman? He seems contractually obliged to remove his shirt in every episode he appears in (like Erik's constantly appearing buttocks).
I do think Jason is a great character, as he is very funny, yet doesn't disappear into caricature. I like Jessica too, although I do wonder why as soon as someone becomes a vampire they have to trowel on the makeup and hop into a corset (Tara this ep being the perfect example), surely there must be some dowdy vampires somewhere?

Blondeshavemorefun Fri 19-Oct-12 20:04:59

Russell was dug up by the lady with the necklace

Pmsl at sookie throwing up

Tara seems to have had a boob job - sure when she was acting crazy - think series 2 she had no boobs at all???

susiedaisy Fri 19-Oct-12 20:30:43

Which Lady with the necklace?

BoulevardOfBrokenSleep Fri 19-Oct-12 21:23:39

Well, we don't know yet, it was a woman with an Authority necklace, they're implying it was Nora but I think it was Salome because that would be too simple

Elsqueak Fri 19-Oct-12 21:24:03

I don't think he's in it for long enough to shed clothes! Has anyone seen him in Magic Mike? Think he's one of the strippers in that.

Lady with necklace - my guess is Salome. She seems tricksy.

ArtfulAardvark Fri 19-Oct-12 21:57:18

I dont think it was Nora, I agree I think it is Salome....hmmm though if we are all thinking that I am beginning to wonder True Blood isnt usually predictable.

AnitaBlake Fri 19-Oct-12 22:06:33

This season is fab, I may have seen it already, but I'm enjoying the censored British version too. The Russell storyline is only just getting started, believe me ;).

Alcide was in Magic Mike, he played an older stripper, called Big Dick, and its fairly nice smile. Trying not to say too much!

Blondeshavemorefun Fri 19-Oct-12 22:46:14

Authority lady lol

wintera Fri 19-Oct-12 23:07:24

Holy crap! I never would have recognised Alcide as the guy in Spiderman. He looks so much better now!

www.youtube.com/watch?v=6O1pJt7_EcU

susiedaisy Fri 19-Oct-12 23:19:43

God he has improved smile

Elsqueak Sat 20-Oct-12 07:08:54

Good lord, just watched that Wintera. Was it his bad hair!?

He makes a good fireman though!

www.youtube.com/watch?v=LSSYz3p9l4I

Elsqueak Sat 20-Oct-12 07:14:42
IdaBlankenship Sat 20-Oct-12 15:51:59

Oh no, am I going to have to force myself to watch Magic Mike with all the nakedness and stuff, oh well a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do..

stumpymosha Sat 20-Oct-12 16:22:47

What was the insult you spoke of? I kind of remember hearing it and thinking "ooh I must remember that quip" but I forgot. sad

IdaBlankenship Sat 20-Oct-12 19:10:06

Stumpy - "As we say here in Surrey, sod the f*ck off, you c*ting tw*t" delivered in a lovely post Brit accent

IdaBlankenship Sat 20-Oct-12 19:10:31
IdaBlankenship Sat 20-Oct-12 19:11:17

Not sure why that extra "here" jumped in: "As we say in Surrey......"

stumpymosha Sat 20-Oct-12 23:43:50

No, that's not the one I wanted to remember. Do you remember this quote from season 1?....
I'm gonna reach down your throat and yank you inside out by your dick.
This one from season 5 made me laugh....Don’t call people names, you dumb-ass redneck.

wintera Sat 20-Oct-12 23:53:46

I liked the quote from Bill when he and Eric were burying Russell a few seasons ago'you are as a mad as a fucking hatter!'

IdaBlankenship Sun 21-Oct-12 19:20:21

I did laugh out loud Erik's "Alcide, you sure know how to treat a lady" when Sookie puked on him, definitely helped by the very langorous air that Bill and Erik had leaning in the doorway

BoulevardOfBrokenSleep Sun 21-Oct-12 21:46:59

That was such a great opening scene.

Almost shagging a hot werewolf guy, then puking on him at the last minute = blush
Doing the above while not realising two of your exes are watching = blushblushblush

BoulevardOfBrokenSleep Sun 21-Oct-12 21:52:04

DH and I loved:

Bill: Well, you know what they say about gentlemen...
Eric: <looks blank>
Bill: ...they don't brag about sloppy seconds.

We had to pause it while we went shock grin Nooo!!! ...do Americans really say 'sloppy seconds'?

IdaBlankenship Sun 21-Oct-12 21:56:45

Yes, that one made me laugh too - I am enjoying the Bill/Erik double act

susiedaisy Tue 23-Oct-12 12:15:51

"That's my sister you fairy fuckers" grin

SaggyOldClothCatPuss Tue 23-Oct-12 13:50:14

I do like the series, but its drifted so far away from the books that it does my head in a little!
I have to try very hard to enjoy them both independently.

FrothyOM Tue 23-Oct-12 16:04:08

anyone know when season 4 is on channel 4? (i haven't got fx)

IdaBlankenship Tue 23-Oct-12 21:07:15

I haven't watched this weeks ep yet as DH is away and I promised not to til he gets back... did I miss much?
SaggyOld - I'm glad I haven't read the books as I think I would have the same problem. I get all invested in characters them get cross when people change them.

ida, Yes it's a good one. I've only just watched last weeks episode too so have had a double Bill this evening.

Originally I would have agreed with getting annoyed when they change the characters for TV but I actually enjoy that about TB. I think partly because they said from day one that's what they were going to do.
I enjoy the books, I havn't read the latest yet as have been saving it for the winter. I'll have to skim the others again first though so I can remember what's happening in the Book Sookiverse.

IdaBlankenship Wed 24-Oct-12 11:56:09

Double Bill - nice TB pun grin . Are the books as funny as the series?

It's a while since I,ve read them. From what I recall they are fairly humorous but not in the same league as the TV series for one liners, LOL's etc. I would definitely recommend them though.

SaggyOldClothCatPuss Wed 24-Oct-12 21:13:21

The books are just better. The series is more about nakedness and one liners.

IdaBlankenship Wed 24-Oct-12 22:05:28

You say it like that's a bad thing Saggy wink

SaggyOldClothCatPuss Wed 24-Oct-12 23:31:09

Well obviously not! <<pictures Eric/Saggy/Bill/Sam/Jason/Alcide/Lafayette sevensome>>
But the books IMO have a little more actual depth and story to them! And Quinn

IdaBlankenship Sat 27-Oct-12 20:37:35

I finally got to watch it! I have to admit I'm very disinterested in the Sam / shifter subplot and the Terry / fire demon subplot, but other bits are shaping up nicely. When Sookie realised Erik had glamoured Alcide made me chuckle, and the "fairy fuckers" line mentioned by SusieDaisy.
The other highlight has to be the scene between Lafayette and his mother, though I'm glad they didn't show the Jesus bit again as the sewn up lips were creepy.

susiedaisy Sun 28-Oct-12 08:59:09

I agree the Terry plot and the Sam one are boring the pants off of me tbh and Hoite (sp?) Jessica's ex definitely needs to change that ridiculous outfit he's wearing in the vamp club!

IdaBlankenship Sun 28-Oct-12 16:12:39

Yes - the purple vest and tie combo with the eyeliner is not the sexiest look, he should stick with the rugged workman look - it works for Jason!

Blondeshavemorefun Mon 29-Oct-12 21:59:54

Finally watched

Only a week behind lol

Agree fire story is getting boring

But wasn't russel fab at the end smile

Slatternismymiddlename Wed 31-Oct-12 20:11:21

As said above the Bill and Erik double act is hilarious and they work brilliantly sparking off each other.

Normally I'm all for a bit of naked flesh (especially if Erik's or Alcide's), but thought that the full frontal of Lilleth was a bit much.

Elsqueak Thu 01-Nov-12 08:28:21

Godrick returns! I liked him. So sad when he walked into the sun.

Yeah, full frontal Lilith...nice that she stopped off at the beauticians for a little lady garden trim...grin

And all this Alcide with his top off is getting a bit much...that guy is getting bigger every time we see him...wink

YYY, love Bill and Eric, (mostly Eric) and the perfume/aftershave ad he's in. Think they should replace the daft Joop one with it!

susiedaisy Thu 01-Nov-12 11:43:45

I like Godrick as well, I thought Lilleth's nakedness was a bit pointless tbh it detracted from the fact that she's suppose to be worshipped in the vampire world, all I could think was good grief she's got nipples you could hang a coat hanger on, and I bet she'd find breast feeding a breeze!!!smile

IdaBlankenship Fri 02-Nov-12 20:52:52

What is it with the pubic topiary - I thought whatever you had when you were turned vampire you stayed with - that would mean daily trimming (although the scriptwriters have conveniently forgotten that detail when they allowed Erik's sexy hair cut to remain - although poor Jessica's hymen had no such luck)

susiedaisy Fri 02-Nov-12 20:57:34

grin

Elsqueak Fri 02-Nov-12 21:58:16

Oo, good point, Ida!

Blondeshavemorefun Mon 05-Nov-12 11:20:57

Godrick - he was lovely. So sad when he died sad

And yes a bit of waxing wouldn't have gone amiss - far too much lady garden

And Eric is so much cuter with short hair !!!

mosschops30 Fri 09-Nov-12 19:13:50

Can someone please get me up to speed on episode 7 (last weeks) clashed on the bloody planner.
The last episode i saw was with sookie in the fairy club, and russell killing that guy in HQ
TIA smile

BoulevardOfBrokenSleep Tue 13-Nov-12 22:16:39

I started to try and summarise the episode and had to go and check online so might as well just point you at that => this is probably the most coherent one I found

Or this one

Neither mentions that the Authority ask Bill & Eric to join them, and Eric says 'Never, you bible banging cunts' which is a lovely moment grin. Although they basically then say, never mind that you are totally opposed to our religion and goals, come along and pretend you're on our side anyway. confused

Still, it kind of defeats the True Blood purpose to query the plot too closely!

BoulevardOfBrokenSleep Wed 14-Nov-12 10:27:46

Oh, even better, the HBO website has a video recap: http://www.hbo.com/true-blood/index.html#/true-blood/episodes/5/55-in-the-beginning/index.html

Piggychunk Wed 14-Nov-12 16:30:50

Not sure if you know this but just saw this and very excitied about the new character smile

tvline.com/2012/11/13/true-blood-season-6-cast-robert-kazinsky-sookie/

Blondeshavemorefun Mon 19-Nov-12 16:06:07

have to say im not enjoying tb so much this series, too much change and think they have run out of ideas, though obv follow the books that i dont read

susiedaisy Tue 20-Nov-12 19:10:20

It's drifting a bit I think!

BoulevardOfBrokenSleep Tue 20-Nov-12 21:59:27

True Blood has veered way off from the books. The themes of seasons 1-4 (Maenad, Russell, witches etc) were broadly similar but the characters are different (eg Lafayette got killed in book 1 IIRC) and the plot details too.
Plus I don't think there is any Authority in the books above the state kings and queens, so this season is completely random.
Reading the books doesn't help any, despite what DH claims when I'm the only one who can remember last week's plot!

I like to think of it as the Rocky Horror version of Eastenders...!

IdaBlankenship Wed 21-Nov-12 09:39:32

This has dropped off my Threads I'm On - bah!
I have to admit its not so much Must See TV anymore - although I shall stick with it because it does have one or two classic lines per episode. DH & I still tell each other to F* the F* off you c*ting tw*t regularly. That and everytime the FX warning comes on saying "This show contains scenes of a sexual nature" we both automatically go "wahey!"

Piggychunk Wed 21-Nov-12 14:45:28

Jason's one liners are the best , he by far makes me laugh the most , however lafayette gets some corkers too.

I will forever watch the show I think its quite addictive and will forever have the best theme tune

IdaBlankenship Wed 21-Nov-12 16:01:13

Jason holds a special place in my heart, I like him & Jessica together. Lafayettes lines have been funnier this season than for ages - he kind of tailed off for a few seasons and lost his sassiness (sp?).
I totally agree about the opening credits and theme tune, something that Homeland should have thought about with their awful credits - I always Sky+ so I can fast forward, but not with True Blood. The Sopranos ones used to be good too.

Blondeshavemorefun Sat 24-Nov-12 17:32:02

love the opening scenes of true blood and music, same with amercian horror

MunchMunch Sun 25-Nov-12 15:24:18

I love the opening credits, how it shows the contrast with the very religious deep south and the rednecks practically having sex in the bar. The song goes with it perfectly. <sings "I wanna do bad things to you"> Always gets my foot tapping. I also love American Horror Story credits.

I can't wait for the new season. I watched all of this season months ago and I was shock at the last episode.

EggNogRules Sun 25-Nov-12 22:22:32

I am feeling a bit meh about the series so far. I have enjoyed Tara and Pam's new dynamic.

11/12 on tomorrow; I hope it heats up.

ArtfulAardvark Tue 27-Nov-12 16:28:35

Ive really enjoyed this season, apart from the Terry fire storyline there havent been any bits where I have been "just get on with it"

I was a bit confused by Bill's complete change of personality but when they said about "nest behaviour" I remembered that that was mentioned in one of the earlier seasons.

Totally loving Lafayette this season, love it when he is all glammed up in his silk and make up with that mouth on him - makes me laugh so much. Glad Tara has her sass back and the relationship with Pam is brilliant. As for Russel, so funny. I love its black humour, it so works for me.

IdaBlankenship Sun 02-Dec-12 22:38:22

Series finale this week! Things that I hope happen:
-Bill snaps out his religious thing quick smart (or is revealed to be faking it & being a double crosser)
-Erik finds some way of getting ghost Godric back
-Sookie saves herself without the aid of any vamps
-Jess & Jason to get back together
-Lillith puts some damn clothes on although Alcide could take his shirt off again (as long as it was integral to the plot of course)

ArtfulAardvark Tue 04-Dec-12 01:09:46

"Lillith puts some damn clothes on although Alcide could take his shirt off again"

Much as Lillith is starting to annoy me I will tolerate it as long as Alcide takes his shirt off again - for a show which has more than its share of nudity he is the one who makes me stop and go "oh my" every time grin

Piggychunk Tue 04-Dec-12 14:38:59

OMG how mazing was that last episode.. I cannot wait a year to watch it

IdaBlankenship Tue 04-Dec-12 14:49:51

I can't watch it until Friday as DH is away! Damn it I shall have to stay away from this thread for fear of spoilers. Glad it was a good one though.

Elsqueak Thu 06-Dec-12 15:55:26

Good lord, do we have to wait a frigging year?! Noooooooo!

When's it back on?

CruCru Mon 10-Dec-12 21:26:20

I think the wait will be longer than usual as Anna Paquin was pregnant earlier this year, putting back filming.

Blondeshavemorefun Mon 10-Dec-12 22:57:36

Oh. Didn't know she was preg

BoulevardOfBrokenSleep Mon 10-Dec-12 23:24:38

Yeah, she had twins about 5 mins after they finished filming the season shock

In the finale, she is mostly shown from the waist up, but the pink dress she's wearing at the start is obviously a maternity one, however hard they tried to get a good angle...!
