No merlin fans out there then? Eagerly anticipating series 5! Can never take my eyes off sir percivals arms!

EdithWeston Mon 10-Sep-12 22:24:46

When does it start?

Wolfiefan Mon 10-Sep-12 22:25:38

Oooo. Share date.

SheelaNeGoldGig Mon 10-Sep-12 22:25:46

Percy's arms and Arthurs chest.

Mmmmm mmmmmmmmmm mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

beujolais Mon 10-Sep-12 22:27:30

Not sure exactly but it is in the next month at least, hopefully! It's felt like an aons! I miss uther though. Who are your faves ladies?

beujolais Mon 10-Sep-12 22:29:05

Come to think of it there is a hell of a lot of totty in it! But it is so gripping, i love it!

MaureenMLove Mon 10-Sep-12 22:33:25

It'll be after Doctor Who, won't it? I think last year, Dr Who was split into two short series, with Merlin in the middle. Could be wrong, but I'm sure they've got the same Saturday night teatime slot.

I can't wait! I love them all. I have a different eye candy every week, although my heart is only truely Arthurs! grin

beujolais Mon 10-Sep-12 22:36:26

That's what i thought, whenever the doctor's on merlin isn't far behind. I'm so excited! Yes arthur is a cutie, but percivals arms!! Hope bloody morgana gets it this time!

This is one of my guilty pleasures. Sure beats reality tv on a Saturday night. Cliche, but it's Lancelot for me....followed by Gwaine. Morgana is a bitch, but she looks good being one - great wardrobe.

beujolais Wed 12-Sep-12 09:28:01

OMG how could i forget lancelot, he is such a hottie! And the rogueish gwaine, would have a tankard of meade with them any time! She is such a bitch! I have been mesmerised by her dresses from the beginning, she must love playing her so much. I can't wait for the new one, they said it's gonna get a lot darker, bring it on!

Looking forward to Saturday night, SCD then Merlin, great stuff. I wonder if Arthur will discover Merlin's secret this series.....

oooggs Thu 04-Oct-12 19:36:33

Can't wait!!!!!!!

beujolais Thu 04-Oct-12 22:12:58

Iam way more excited than my 8yo but i don't care! It is here at last.I wonder how arthur will react if he finds out merlins secret, i hope he doesn't flip. I will of course also be lusting after the knights!

grin beujolais

Tonight 7-45pm. BBC1.

My DH and DS are grin to say the least!

Orenishii Sat 06-Oct-12 16:13:38

Is this the Merlin with the Fiennes brother - Joseph - in it?? I was watching it last year, then it just seemed to disappear midway through and I was very confused.

oh Merlin its hilarious. Lots of gratuitous non shirt wearing tonight! !

ProphetOfDoom Sat 06-Oct-12 20:44:10

Message withdrawn at poster's request.

so many levels of semi naked men! ;)

cocolepew Sat 06-Oct-12 20:52:35

Oh my, thanks for the half naked men Morganna grin.

LetUsPrey Sat 06-Oct-12 20:53:03

Orenishii - that was Camelot on Channel 4 I think.

Ahem grin

Personally, I watch Merlin for the storylines.

MeFour Sat 06-Oct-12 20:57:30

Hehe I'm just watching it. Saw the levels of Half makes men and thought 'oh I bet there's a mn thread' wonder why my mind works like that

MeFour Sat 06-Oct-12 20:58:33

*half naked

moonshine Sat 06-Oct-12 21:06:35

My dd (11): How come the cave is cold (you can see their breath) but they're not wearing their shirts?

Me (out loud): Oh it's hard work splitting rocks, (in head) because at last someone understands what makes a great programme - gratuitous shots of semi-naked hot men mixed in with an epic storyline and nice costumes.

Oh yes this programme works on so many levels.....

I LOVE Merlin. Last Christmas I sat in front of the TV on my own ignoring everyone to watch the finale.

halfthesize Sat 06-Oct-12 21:10:13

Really loved tonights episode, all those scenes with shirtless mengrin

LetUsPrey Sat 06-Oct-12 21:12:30

May I refer the MNers who enjoy the physical aspects of the show to my earlier link wink

Coffeeformeplease Sat 06-Oct-12 21:15:24

aha. I know now why DD (13) likes it, and all her class mates. And there was I, thinking she's not at all interested in the opposite sex (apart from Johnny Depp-until I told her how old he is, she's gone off him since) They have a sleepover today at DD's friend with 6 girls, and watched it. I will be teasing her tomorrow about the half naked men wink

LetUsPrey Sat 06-Oct-12 21:16:22

Can I just say that I'm watching this on Sky+ and am just getting towards the end. Cave scene? Sleeping knights? Hellooooooooo!

<worries that pretence of watching it for the storylines may be slipping>

cocolepew Sat 06-Oct-12 21:20:51

LetUsPrey. I love you. Thank you.

LetUsPrey Sat 06-Oct-12 21:22:29

Startailoforangeandgold Sat 06-Oct-12 21:38:10

moonshine I've just had my DD2(11) drooling over 'hunky' (Percival) and DH saying he fancies the treasonous maid.
Me, I fancy Gwaine. DD1(14) she claims to be above such nonsense, she never admits to fancying anyone.wink

Letuspray I thank you..

RedBlanket Sat 06-Oct-12 21:49:32

So Morgana has got herself an underground lair filled with half naked fit blokes breaking rocks? In your face Gwen!

What was the shiny silver alien all about?

Sod the alien - was far too buisy looking at Gwaine..

cocolepew Sat 06-Oct-12 21:53:29

There was an alien? wink

DD1 is 14 and "her favourite knight is Gwaine" translated that means she fancies him.
DH can't decide between Gwen and Morganna, but Morganna is a bit in the lead.

I'm still lusting after Lancelot.

DD2 is 11 and she likes the horses

BigBroomstickBIWI Sat 06-Oct-12 21:56:44

Not homoerotic at all!

I love Merlin. Even DH, who never misses an opportunity to ridicule it, sat and watched the whole thing with me!

NimChimpsky Sat 06-Oct-12 21:59:07

I like Merlin. The show's okay too. wink

WhereMyMilk Sat 06-Oct-12 22:07:53

Letusprey you are now my favourite MNer! grin

I am so in love with Arthur who is just lickable, and Gwain-ALL that hair flicking!

RedBlanket Sat 06-Oct-12 22:16:13

Fruity - me too, that's why I've no idea what it was all about. wink

MeFour Sat 06-Oct-12 22:26:02

Yes I miss Lancelot
Because i think merlin needs an ally of course no other reason at all, ahem

EugenesAxe Sat 06-Oct-12 22:29:48

Gwaine... yes he's nice. That Sir Percival reminds me of... arrrghh! Shite I can't think. No wait I can! The guy who plays the roving reporter on Drop The Dead Donkey. Just looked it up - Damien, played by Stephen Tomkinson. He's getting on a bit now but in his DDTD years, yes.

I loved Arthur's face during jugglegate. DH didn't get it was Mordred at all but I remembered the bad 'why did you let him go?!' storyline from yonks ago as soon as we saw that vision.

Dunno why I saw the need to big myself up with that last statement.

MissEleanorLavish Sat 06-Oct-12 22:34:24

DS desperate to watch it so forced myself to watch it tonight. What have I been missing? Who's the hotty with the hair flick that ended up with the alien? (No idea what the story was about.....)

LetUsPrey Sat 06-Oct-12 23:02:01

<twirls> They are pretty aren't they, those brave Knights of Camelot?

Not entirely sure what the blue alieny thing was all about and not sure I liked it. Thought I'd stumbled into an episode of the X-Files but without the shoulder pads.

MeFour Sat 06-Oct-12 23:03:46

Grown up mordred casting was good except I think he's changed eye colour?

It was Gawain with the alien

MissEleanorLavish Sat 06-Oct-12 23:16:30

Thank you ladies - oh those knights are oh so pretty. <scuttles off to add merlin DVDs to DS's Christmas list!>

LetUsPrey Sat 06-Oct-12 23:24:28

For those of you with DC <cough> who would be interested in watching some earlier series of Merlin, I would suggest you they watch the CBBC channel tomorrow at 4.30pm.

MissEleanorLavish Sun 07-Oct-12 00:04:01

<sets Sky+> thank you smile

moonshine Sun 07-Oct-12 00:06:40

<programmes Sky + for all past and future episodes>

Follow @merlinofficial on Twitter - they are shameless in promoting what I people want - sample tweets tonight:

'We would not be surprised if the words 'shirtless' and 'knights' started trending tonight'

'Noise of torso alarm going off'

'Most knights have swords but Percival has a couple of massive guns'

FairPhyllis Sun 07-Oct-12 02:17:36

Thank God Merlin is back. I'm so sad this is the last season.

Percival's armour always makes me laugh. Especially as he is still wearing it in the snow. I love the way the levels of shirtlessness have stepped up season by season - ALL the knights with no shirts on now. I fully expect them to be running around in the nudd by the end of the season.

Arthur must have some sort of low-level brain injury by now from all the times he's been knocked out so Merlin can do some magic without him seeing.

Gwen seems to have Taken a Level in Badass now she is Queen. I like it!

I think I preferred Mordred as a spooky kid. At least Morgana seems to have stopped doing the Evil Smirk at the camera.

Just watched it, with a cup of tea, a slice of homemade choc cake and a big grin. The knights of Camelot did us proud. So happy to see Hope the scrummy Lancelot returns. I was surprised at Gwen's harsh sentencing, but she obviously means business!

FairPhyllis surely not the last season?! Gutted.

SchmaltzingMatilda I'm pretty sure my DS would like a calendar like that too! (ahem)

LetUsPrey Sun 07-Oct-12 16:12:10

Sadly I don't think the calendar is a reality. I'm mean, I'm just guessing, I didn't google it or anything. No no no. grinblush

LetUsPrey Sun 07-Oct-12 17:00:30

There is no nekkidness in that calendar. What's the point? Sure, there are days and stuff but no nekkid knights wielding their swords <snurk>.

ShipwreckedAndComatose Sun 07-Oct-12 21:07:24

Loved the episode such neckidness top quality story lines..

YouBrokeMySmoulder Sun 07-Oct-12 21:15:34

It's rivalling True Blood for torso totty and no mistake. and it's a children's show which means you have to watch it with them in case they get scared. Such a hardship.

ShipwreckedAndComatose Sun 07-Oct-12 21:31:18

Erm.... My kids were in bed blush

RedBlanket Mon 08-Oct-12 11:07:15

<removes merlin calendar from DS's Christmas list>

LittleAbruzzen did you know Eoin is making his own film called Cold

I'm so pleased Merlin is back. DS3 curled up on the sofa with us and I enjoyed Bradley James the plot

Thanks Jimjams, that looks good, Eoin and the plot!

beujolais Mon 08-Oct-12 13:11:32

I hope that isn't true about it being the final season! I've gone back to the beginning, i'm gonna watch all my box sets again! Can't wait to see this mordred story develop. Had to remain poker faced as i watched layer upon layer of serious beefcakes bashing away with their massive ahem tools, i was watching with my lad, could not be seen swooning. Still can't take my eyes off precivals arms, hubba hubba.

beujolais Mon 08-Oct-12 13:12:39

Sorry PERCIVAL! I can't seem to spell today.

beujolais Mon 08-Oct-12 13:13:58

BTW did you guys know they are making a merlin film? Will be epic!

MeFour Mon 08-Oct-12 13:19:37

Sorry, do you say it was a children's program?

beujolais Mon 08-Oct-12 13:21:08

Haha it's supposed to be! Think the producers wanted to throw us mums a bone too, crank up the viewing figures maybe?

halfthesize Mon 08-Oct-12 13:42:25

LetUsPrey you are a star and have made my week with that linkwink

cocolepew Mon 08-Oct-12 13:47:09

A film!?!

Maybe it will be in 3D <faints>

lljkk Mon 08-Oct-12 13:53:04

I would like this to be last season, or next to last season. I'd hate it to be dragged out beyond it's natural life.
But agree there'd be lots to cover if this were THE last season.

I'm fed up waiting for Merlin to kick some ass.

Percival's in that Cold film as well.

They keep saying yes/no to a 6th series. But surely they must know, or if it's only a maybe then Merlin must reveal is magic this series.

I spend far too much time thinking about merlin grin

FairPhyllis Mon 08-Oct-12 18:24:02

I'm sure I saw an interview with a producer/writer a while back saying that they were all about their 5 season story plan. I hope that if they did originally plan for 5 seasons, that they leave it at that - I think many shows (esp American ones) go on for too long. If they had a 5 season plan and then tack another season on, I think the probability of it being crap is high, which would make me sad.

Unless the 6th season is about the Knights of Camelot opening a modelling agency, of course grin.

Oh and I wish someone would give Merlin a new costume - he's had the same clothes since the first series. You'd think Arthur could stretch to a new outfit for him!

lljkk Mon 08-Oct-12 18:58:16

I would have thought we'd know if all the relevant actors were looking for work, so probably this isn't last season. Really don't want it to go on too long, though, utterly hate shows that do that.

MrsSalvoMontalbano Mon 08-Oct-12 19:13:34

lol at works on so many levels grin was watching it and thinking how many sofas throughout the land would have a DH like mine scoffing, lurking about, but watching Morgana nevertheless , DC variously interested in the fighting, the magic, the horses. In our house DS1 (14) was explaining the storyline, and referring back to backstory - eg Mordred for those of us who had lost track, DS2 (12) keenly interested in the swords and armour and me admiring the shirtlessness musing on the legends from Chretien de Troyes.

MrsSalvoMontalbano Mon 08-Oct-12 19:15:07

And yessss! Arthur's expression when Merlin did the juggling! Tha man's acting has improved immensely from the first series.

Agreed. Colin Morgan has always (imo) been a great actor, but Bradley James is fab now as well and not just hot

I may have watched each series a few times so be in a position to compare

I've always heard 5 as well, but this year saw some talk of a 6th.

beujolais Mon 08-Oct-12 21:28:25

So is it just speculation for the time being? Yeah i kind of agree with you guys but at the same time i don't want it to end, i suppose all good things must end. I REALLY want merlins secret to be out! Just to see arthurs reaction if anything and he'll know that merlin really has saved his arse all those times!

Seventh that's really funny! Luckily DS1 loves Merlin so DH who is on the fence, although strangely interested when Morgana appears, has no choice. DH didn't see any of last week's episode though and is wondering why I am a bit too excited about looking forward to tomorrow's episode.

oooggs Sat 13-Oct-12 21:14:32

Don 't trust Mordred!!!

cocolepew Sat 13-Oct-12 21:16:57

I wish I looked like Morgana envy. I'm much nicer though grin

lljkk Sat 13-Oct-12 21:18:00

Sorry, I've only been shouting it for last 5 minutes.

MooMinCow Sat 13-Oct-12 21:18:13

Where did Morgana get the baby dragon from? vaguely remember something about a dragon egg from last series (or maybe I'm getting confused with Game of Thrones wink)

lljkk Sat 13-Oct-12 21:40:37

It's Merlin's dragon, he called it from the egg, he rescued it when Arthur was out to destroy it, etc and Merlin had his first real "I'm Fed up with being nice, so Don't Fuck with me any more" moment . Somehow the white dragon is bound to She Who Will Not Die.

uoYekorByMredluomS Sat 13-Oct-12 21:49:34

I am enjoying this series very much, particularly the half-naked fighting knights. I feel very hypocritical, given my disapproving glances at lads mags in the local petrol station.

WhereMyMilk Sat 13-Oct-12 22:21:02

I bloody love Arthur Merlin!

Don't care if it drags on, don't want it to end sad

MooMinCow Sat 13-Oct-12 22:35:54

Ahh thanks Iljkk! I think I remember that now - got my dragons mixed up!

And what was with the Ready Brek alien thing? That set me off thinking about the last Indiana Jones film and those crystal skulls.... (obviously need to concentrate more on the the half naked knights instead)

And Queen Gwen's bad assness was all part of a Baldrick style cunning plan! wink

DH napped thru most of it but woke up about 5 minutes before the end & exclaimed "Bloody Hell!, [name of his gay brother] should watch this!" grin

lljkk Sun 14-Oct-12 10:00:20

But do we trust Mordred, eh, eh? Or is he still a dark heart? And didn't he swear to never forgive Merlin over that Jacob's Ladder in a Crystal Ball thingie?

Llareggub Sun 14-Oct-12 10:07:09

I think Mordred is deeply conflicted. I need to be convinced of his naked chest knight fighting abilities before stating for sure whether he belongs at the table of eye candy. He has lovely eyes though. <shallow>

ShipwreckedAndComatose Sun 14-Oct-12 11:24:35

grin at evil corr who will not die!!!

fussychica Sun 14-Oct-12 11:30:26

Think it's gone off a bit to be honest but half naked knights kept me watching, especially Gawain - reminds me of Aragorn in LOTRs blush.

Laughing at The Evil Corr!

Has Mordred rescued Arthur to ingratiate himself/get into Camelot and then plot their destruction from within?

Fussy I liked Aragorn, Boromir, Eomer, Legolas and Faramir in LoTR so you could say I'm into sweaty knight types, although Legolas is in the 'pretty' camp

LetUsPrey Sun 14-Oct-12 20:29:13

grin at Evil Corr

Just up to the part where Sefa's escaping with her dad.

I feel Gawain should have made more of an effort to sit up and flex his muscles. He'd feel better if he swished his hair about.

Mordred does indeed have beautiful eyes.

LetUsPrey Sun 14-Oct-12 20:49:54

Oooh semi-nekkid men wandering around with their weapons in their handsgrin

And Merlin being all bossy as DragonMaster or whatever he's called.

Sir Mordred?! Whoever said he's probably going to infiltrate from within, I would have to agree.

ShipwreckedAndComatose Sun 14-Oct-12 20:53:12

What we really need is some sort of story line that keeps the knights semi nekkid in that mine for a few episodes more...

Not fussed what that story line is really....just want more.. smile

ScarePhyllis Mon 15-Oct-12 07:36:34

I think the producers have got the message, Ship, seeing as the amount of semi nekkidness has risen exponentially since series 1.

Gwen was pretty awesome, I thought. She didn't get much to do in the last series, so I was pleased they have remedied that. But I can't help thinking she must be cold in all those low cut dresses in a draughty castle, although she does look fabulous in them. I'm always worried about how cold people must be in this show!

BigBroomstickBIWI Mon 15-Oct-12 09:12:24

They did look really cold in that outside/snow scene, didn't they?! I wondered how much redder Merlin's ears could get!

beujolais Mon 15-Oct-12 11:17:46

Ican't believe morgana is still alive! Doesn't she raise uther from the dead next week? cannot wait to see that. Ooh percival makes my knees weak!

Pocketsocks Mon 15-Oct-12 16:20:23

Two things I noted, one was did they slap Merlin about the head a lot to make his ears that red and two even in a costume change Arthur had armour and Merlin none, I know he;s the king but c'mon!

the dragon was confusing, I thought the big dragon took the little dragon away when it hatched and it can't be another dragon because it was the last dragon egg and how did Morgana know the dragon's name. Has the word dragon lost all meaning to you yet?

ShipwreckedAndComatose Mon 15-Oct-12 17:53:07

Hope you're right scare wink

hattymattie Mon 15-Oct-12 20:05:46

I think I can see the influence of Game of Thrones here - mainly in the snow and more forboding atmosphere - (or maybe it's just in my head).

Macchiato Mon 15-Oct-12 20:06:43

Just saw the ad with ghost Uther... SO excited

ScarePhyllis Mon 15-Oct-12 20:17:40

The little dragon goes off with the big dragon after it hatches, but then it turned up again at the very end of the last series, when it healed Morgana's wounds (She Who Will Not Die). So as a couple of years are supposed to have passed between the series I think we are meant to assume the little dragon has been hanging out with Morgana in the meantime.

The TVTropes recap is funny - it points out that Gwen is already the most competent royal ever on the show. Within the space of one episode she figures out who the traitor is, comes up with a plan to deal with the situation, and carries it out. Unlike Uther and Arthur, who appear to have their memory wiped at the end of any episode where it's hinted there might be a traitor in Camelot ...

beujolais Mon 15-Oct-12 22:08:43

I hope the little dragon is released from morganas clutches. I so can't wait to see what happens when uther comes back. This show just keeps getting better!

oooggs Sat 20-Oct-12 20:48:39

LetUsPrey Sat 20-Oct-12 20:54:04

I'll be watching this a bit later.

I really think they should re-think Gwen's and Morgana's dresses. There's far too much cleavage on show which is Not On At All. <tuts>

Looking forward to seeing the pretty brave knights being pretty brave and half nekkid whilst brandishing their weapons. grin

Llareggub Sat 20-Oct-12 21:57:15

Disappointing. No half-naked fighting tonight, just a very scary apparition. Might not watch again with DS, it was a bit scarier than usual.

2rebecca Sat 20-Oct-12 22:00:10

Glad this week wasn't just "Arthur and Merlin fight Morgana" yet again, although the chasing ghosts in creepy corridoors dragged on a bit.

LetUsPrey Sat 20-Oct-12 22:11:16

I do like it when Merlin uses magic and gets a bit ... can't think of the right word ... tough? cross? Dunno. Anyway, loved it when he revealed his magic to Uther!

lljkk Sun 21-Oct-12 09:34:24

Me & DSs were hiding under blankets last night (wimps). "I don't mind being scared!!" declared 4yo DS.

lljkk my 4yo DS loves this too. Arthur is his favourite because 'he fights and is cool with his sword'. Can't argue with that. DS yesterday morning (we record Merlin so DS doesn't miss it) 'Mummy, Merlin is your favourite and Gwain makes you smile funny.....Daddy, Daddy, do you know that Mummy likes the knights?'.

beujolais Mon 22-Oct-12 17:41:44

Hahaha, yes there was a distinct lack of sweaty ripped bodies this week, still got a lingering glimpse of percys arms, yum. Was creepy, uther's even more of a badass when dead! I was on the edge of my seat when uther was about to reveal merlins secret, talk about a close shave!

ScarePhyllis Mon 22-Oct-12 22:27:04

lljkk and Little grin

I think we are going to have lots of almost-reveal moments this series, possibly building up to a big reveal with Arthur finding out?

lljkk Sat 03-Nov-12 21:40:47

Oh, I am throwing in the towel. Will not watch any more. Sadly, seriously.

Honestly, how stupid can Merlin & Arthur get? Couldn't Merlin see this was the Golden Opportunity? Meanwhile, The old Biddies told Arthur that he would save Camelot, AND Arthur thought he would save Mordred, if he said yes to the old religion, what wasn't to like? I mean Merlin has always been full of plot holes, but how did Arthur think he was saving Camelot when the old Broads firmly told him he was condemning Camelot by saying No? confused

And anyway, Arthur is doomed now, isn't he?

2rebecca Sat 03-Nov-12 22:55:34

Agree, made Merlin look very superficial if he put Arthur over saving Camelot and his religion, esp as the women said Arthur could only be saved through them, why believe the dragon over them anyway if they're supposed to be the head honchos?
Hope they kill Gwen next week but sadly lady superdrip will probably survive. Not surprised Arthur's so keen to go out fighting with her at home. Are fiesty women only allowed to be baddies? Guinevere in the legends was a much more interesting character.

I must admit, I thought Gwen was going to toughen up this series. I have to keep watching because of Gwain as DS likes it. Isn't super-fit Lancelot meant to return and clear off with Gwen? I do luffs Merlin, even if he is a tad daft sometimes.

fruityoatybrains Sat 10-Nov-12 21:12:52

No one watching tonight? I loved this episode. Very dark. Made me jump a few times!

LetUsPrey Sat 10-Nov-12 21:17:50

Part way through it. The knights are almost at the dark tower.

2rebecca Sat 10-Nov-12 21:51:26

Boring, I hate the Arthur v Morgana episodes which is nearly all of them recently. Vary the script a bit writers, use your imagination. If they kill off the sickening saintly gwen I'll be happy though. Looks like they are turning her into an evil troll although i suspect she'll be returned to boring "niceness" soon enough. Why aren't any of the women allowed to be funny? They are either evil or saintly.
It's never very believable that merlin is more powerful than morgana, her magic is much more interesting. He just stops things hitting people and send people flying backwards.

noblegiraffe Sat 10-Nov-12 21:56:34

I thought the Dark Tower was supposed to be dangerous? They spent more time in the forest. The plot had better pick up soon, each episode so far seems to be more filler than anything else. I want at least a few episodes where Arthur knows about Merlin if this is the last series.

LetUsPrey Sat 10-Nov-12 22:04:06

I want more magic from Merlin. More .. don't know the word .. determination in him when he's using his magic. More crossness if you like. and not just because I like him when he's like that

What happened to Sefa? Do we think she'll be back?

FairPhyllis Sun 11-Nov-12 12:17:01

What a dull episode.

I think they have really missed good opportunities in the last couple of episodes to explore the characters emotional states and relationships with each other. We really ought to have had at least one Gwen episode this season looking at how she has adjusted to being queen and her relationship with Arthur and her brother. Instead we are getting endless wandering in the woods. And the episode with Mordred last week could have been punched up a bit too.

Is it just me or do Gwen and Arthur have absolutely no chemistry whatsoever? They don't look like they enjoy being around each other at all. They just look Terribly Serious Because This Is True Love.

Startail Sun 11-Nov-12 12:33:09

Definitely a bit dull since the nights put their shirts back on.

We do need a bit more plot than let's walk through the woods again.

Startail Sun 11-Nov-12 12:33:37

Knights oops,

Which Sun 11-Nov-12 14:00:09

Happy happy, oh no! Morgana, forest, magical foes, everyone unconscious, merlin brighteyes something that is thrown, back to Camelot, merlin gets a whack around the head, the end.

This is how each script read through must go surely? I loved how Merlin was a teeny bit more authoritative this ep but in general the whole thing has gone off the boil.

beujolais Thu 22-Nov-12 20:53:28

I do still enjoy it but it would be nice for it to make a bit of headway now we're in series 5! Does anyone know whether sir galahad will make an appearance? thinking more monty python now.. Would like arthur to see the real merlin though, they're keeping us dangling too long, plus the way gwen is suddenly trying to kill arthur is a bit ridiculous.

baileyslover Fri 23-Nov-12 21:19:47

Can I ask whether anyone knows how Morgana and the baby dragon ended up down that hole for 2 years? She obviously thinks Arthur was behind it, but I don't remember him catching her and surely he would have killed her confused

RedZombie Sat 24-Nov-12 20:36:36

I've obviously missed a couple of weeks. How come Gwen is trying to kill Arthur?
And why can't Arthur put his own shirt on?

ivykaty44 Sat 24-Nov-12 21:07:35

gewn is under the spell of the other woman and arthur doesn't know how to dress himself

LetUsPrey Sat 24-Nov-12 21:48:42

Thought tonight's was very slow. I want more magic from Merlin, some proper angry magic!

And where the hell was Gwaine?

If Gwen's corsets get any tighter, they're going to have to move the show to after the watershed.

TunaPastaBake Sun 25-Nov-12 15:50:28

I got bored after series 2. Same old stuff. Although did perk up this series with Gwen being under the influence of Morgana but they do drag it out.

FairPhyllis Sun 25-Nov-12 16:21:14

I am getting a bit fed up of the fact that you know someone's card is marked as soon as they find out Merlin has magic. I quite liked the lad in last night's episode.

Arithmeticulous Sun 25-Nov-12 16:35:25

Has Merlin taught Arthur (as a joke) that you have to pose in that stupid way for someone to dress you?

FairPhyllis Mon 26-Nov-12 14:35:59

And here's the news: Merlin to be axed.

FairPhyllis Mon 26-Nov-12 20:32:38

I know! Perhaps if the start of this season hadn't been so lacklustre they would have got a 6th series.

beujolais Tue 27-Nov-12 11:51:08

Yes i can understand their decision though i can't help but be disappointed as i am really fond of the show, there have been a few inconsistancies in this series unfortunately but i believe the finale will be awesome if they get their mojo back.

Jux Sat 01-Dec-12 15:48:40

Not surprised. This series has been really dull. I think they decided that they should appeal to 'mums' and forgot about their core audience, so the writing went downhill, and the time became later. Tbh, I'm just waiting for it to finish.

I hope that when Dr Who comes back, it'll be early evening KIDS time, and won't follow the same path.

BarbecuedBillygoats Sat 01-Dec-12 21:25:19

I'm confused

I'm thinking I must have fallen asleep during last weeks as I dont remember Arthur finding out about Gwen but he knew at the beginning I this week

FairPhyllis Sun 02-Dec-12 06:07:52

I like Gwen's hair. That is all I have to say about that episode.

EdithWeston Sun 02-Dec-12 07:49:21

Well, we know Mordred's card's marked because of the traditional legends. There's only so far they can depart from them (far less scope once Arthur is king, rather than the blank canvas of the time he was a prince). So I think this series was always to be the last, as it just went to the end of the available narrative space.

Jux Sun 02-Dec-12 10:41:49

They managed with Robin Hood, though, didn't they?

FairPhyllis Sun 02-Dec-12 21:06:25

No, they did have the possibility of a 6th season dangled in front of them. I think that's why the action has been so slow - I think they were holding back plot lines for a possible 6th season, but it has backfired on them because the lack of action got them bad reviews and definite cancellation. Why can't people just stick to their 5 season plan?

noblegiraffe Sun 02-Dec-12 21:10:05

Gwen's boobs were in definite danger of falling out as she was hauled around this episode. I think that's the most peril this series has seen.

I mean, Merlin was all 'How can I keep up the aging spell while summoning the goddess, that's really tricky' and then when it came to it, it was a piece of piss. No tension.

MyLittleAprilSunshine Tue 04-Dec-12 17:12:12

Still love Merlin though.

But defo more half naked knights and Merlin getting a bit bossy :p

Jux Tue 04-Dec-12 22:47:37

Well, yes, so do I, but I think it's more residual loyalty. I miss the camaraderie between Merlin and Arthur, the tension of the plot and effects and all the things that made it great for kids; and I don't get much out of knights with few clothes on.

beujolais Tue 11-Dec-12 10:45:26

I just want arthur to find out merlin has magic. I can't wait to see the finale, will it be that great battle merlin saw in the vision when mordred killed arthur? Yeah my boobies were just like gwens before they emigrated south, i do think they are veering dangerously towards a 9pm start with her corsets!

LittleAbruzzenBearLovesYuleLog Fri 14-Dec-12 13:24:24

DH is very happy with all of Gwen's dresses in this series. I can't complain after the semi-naked knights episode and the inane grin on my face.

AloeSailor Mon 24-Dec-12 08:28:24

So did merlin die and is his ghost Emrys? I don't get it.

MooMinCow Mon 24-Dec-12 09:10:02

I thought he had some kind of epiphany in the cave and his true self was revealed to him by the guardians of magic (or something like that grin)

AloeSailor Mon 24-Dec-12 09:40:12

I got the impression he died because when he woke all the wounds were gonr
