Freeview & aerials

Can anyone tell me if you need to have a proper aerial for Freeview?

We are on cable, and don't have an aerial, but I was thinking of getting a Freeview box for the au pair's TV. I was wondering if it would work with a set-top aerial, or if we needed the real thing.

you need a 'special' aerial compatible with/specially for freeview. we had it done recently. local sat/cable suppliers came in and did the special aerial and set top box, for a set price though but jolly worth it! can recommend getting the top-up tv with it - the set top box needs to be 'ready' for that too. get more channel on top of freeview ones for 7.99 mth.

I fyou look at the freeview website...something like freeview.co.uk and put in your postcode it tells you if you will need to upgrade or not.
