I thought it would be high time to get the TARDIS party going, now we're on a countdown. Has anyone else seen the clip from the first episode yet? Looking like good fun. I might even be persuaded to squee.

So what are we looking forward to most - New TARDIS interior, new companion, new showrunner?

And what on earth are the 'smilers' Matt Smith hinted at in his interview on News24. And why does he still not appear to have any eyebrows?

Well, apparently they explode Ten's sonic screwdriver in the first episode, so perhaps he loses his eyebrows then....

I saw the trailer with those statues from Blink.

That episode scared the living crap out of me.

I am going to have to pull my sofa away from the wall slightly I reckon

Oh, I haven't seen the trailer yet... I can't wait though! One of the interviews online said that he actually meets the companion when she is a young girl, so it adds a bit of a different twist to it.

tigerfeet I loved Blink as well - by far one of my favourite episodes - ironic as he's really not in it much, is he?

Marking place.

Am v excited although still in mourning for DT. Only cheered by the Stephen Moffat factor and, yes, those bloody terrifying angels. I blink every three seconds, always have - I'd never have stood the pace. (Then again, I don't look like Carey Mulligan, either. So prob not Dr Who clever companion type anyway.)

All the Steven Moffat stories are excellent - the library one was good too.

Report
pinkteddy · 19/03/2010 23:22

Yes the library - just watched it again on BBC3 - anyone else watching the re-runs?

I saw a brief clip of Matt Smith meeting Amy as a young girl on BBC news part of the website earlier.

Starts 3rd April. I've attached link to BBC website - warning contains minor spoilers!

Matt Smith hopes new series will thrill

It looks good. I'll miss DT, and I'll miss leering when I watch it, but from a story POV, the new series looks pretty exciting - DCs can't wait, and think Matt Smith is going to be fab

Ooh a DW thread!

It won't be the same without DT, but weren't we all moaning when CE was leaving?

It's depressing when I look at how young Matt Smith looks though. I feel old.

Looking forward to it very much in our house

can't say I liked the new trailer much though, all the spinning etc... I dunno, seemed a bit childish? like it belonged on Sarah Jane Adventures instead? or was that just me

I saw the trailer in 3D at the cinema yesterday, OMGWOW! it's on before Alice if anyone wants to go and see it

I've seen the trailer, and I agree - exciting, but a bit more aimed at children, imo (except the angels bit). The meeting AMy when she's a child sounds like a cross between the Time Traveller's Wife, and that episode with Madame de Pompadour - the Man in the Fireplace, was it?

Is it just me being cynical or is a large part of the need to have a new design sonic screwdriver to do with how many toy versions they can shift?

And if they make a new Tardis interior, I am NOT getting it for DS2 - the last one was horrendous and never stayed together!

Report
Katisha · 20/03/2010 14:38

Tardis interior toy I mean - I wasted most of Christmas Day two years ago getting the thing out of the box (those awful tie things they use) and then trying to work out how it fitted together...

Report
mrsmharket · 20/03/2010 14:56

i hate those plastic ties too

We got that tardis thing too, waste of money, rotting in the attic.

I will really miss drooling over DT, but still ultimately a fan of the show, so will keep an open mind.

We saw the 3D trailer, 3D episodes would be good (done properly like at the cinema) making it scarier as Daleks come towards you...
