Anyone watching? That man gives physics a very good name...

I do like him, I do. But why does he always speak as though he's smiling? Is it just the shape of his mouth? I think I'd like to see him get -a-- bit moody serious
When he was talking about the large Hadron collider on newsnight (I think) he got quite serious and cross - he was v good! I think it's his enthusiasm bubbling over - he just adores his subject, and really, really knows it.
Wow! The northern lights amazing- is that real time?

He's brillient-my thinking woman's man crush. I'm glad physics has got such a good poster boy.
I'm not sure re northern lights- they shift and shimmer quite rapidly but not sure if it's that quickly iykwim... Never seen them that well unfortunately!
I think the Northern lights were filmed n a time lapse, since when there was someone moving in the frame that was all jerky.
I loves me a clever man.
DH is glued.
you know you can help NASA spot solar flares online?
here
he has been all excited because he has been helping to save the universe.

I would.
Fascinating. Not just him.
Hurray! more fans. he is just fab, isn't he? Lots of good science atm on tv - did anyone see the history of chemistry thing? Jim Al-Khalili also a clever fox. Makes me v happy.
Saw an x-ray film of the sun once - amazingly active.
I actually missed the History of Chemistry. Bit daft of me, considering I have a degree in it!

Brilliant programme, Brian v endearing (although how is he a professor at the age of 12?) - some great science docs on at the moment. Horizon looks good too (9pm BBC2)
I know! Think he has a picture in the attic - esp amazing as he took time out to have a (faintly dodgy) rock n' roll career.

molesworth- chris evans asked him that very question (being 12) and he said curiosity/enthusiasm must be the key to looking young.
He's on my to do list
glad to see true science is getting a look in- alot of the biology based programes have been side tracked by the cinamatography.

yes, I loved it. Nearly made my head explode with all the bigness of the universe but I'm taping the series so I will be cleverer by the end of it
.
I saw D:Ream in concert in 1993 actually
.
Wasn't he lovely?
And on again this morning - 'Space Hoppers' with Big Cook, Little Cook.

I really liked this.
I think he comes across really well. Is nice to see someone so excited about subjects like this.
Looks as if it will be a good series.

We have recorded this. Will it be above the level of a bright, 10 year old boy who is interested in space?

Damn, I missed it. I was suspicious of Brian Cox when I first saw him on TV, I suspected a dodgey pop-star seeking fame in an alternate media, but I can't fault him. He knows his stuff and explains it clearly and with enthusiasm.
I've always had a soft spot for geeks in general and astro-physicists in particular. I've never dated one though, when I was at university all the physics students looked like gnomes.

I watched it raptly. Then realized that I was won over by his enthusiasm and the nice pictures. but didn't understand one word of any of it....
Clumsymum, He'll probably get a lot out of it. My DD's 5 and sat and watched it all (I'd thought she'd probably wander off).
That 'space hoppers' is fun too. 7.30am tues and weds.

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore I Google-stalked him too
I've just tried to google stalk him myself and I'm having some confusion.
Is Albert Finney Brian Cox too?
