Recipe of the week

smithy's roasted beetroot: low-fat, dairy-free, gluten-free, nut-free and generally nutritious and virtuous. This one-dish wonder is delicious and uses up some seasonal beets. What's not to like?

Was Celebrity Big Brother last night menacing?

I occasionally dip into CBB and last night watched the highlights of the day when Davina went into the house dressed as a chick.

The housemates sussed it wasn't Nicky right away, but the conversation very quickly turned bullying and menacing, one even said "let's cocka-do-her". It was like watching a pre-rape scene in a film and I had the feeling that if they weren't on tv being filmed, they would have gone a lot furthershock shock

Was I the only one horrified? I thought Davina was scared although she didn't admit it in the Diary Room. Stephanie was just looking on in the bedroom.

Yes there was a definite gang mentality, why they were sooo threatened by a strange female in a chicken costume I will never know. Base mentality.

And all the showbizzy hugs and kisses when they knew it was Davina were veh hypocritical when you consider how they had behaved earlier.

I wasn't horrified as such, just thought it was a strange ay to behave. Vinnie Jones was referring to her is 'it'
I didn't like the tone of it, one or two of them, I think Jonas, tried to say she's scared and Vinnie (and poss others - not sure which ones though) were ignoring that and were all for cornering or dragging Davina and pulling the costume head off. It did sound quite menacing.

Yes I agree. And Vinnie was calling her it. Jonas was the only one who showed any respect bless him.

Out of the men I meant, Stephanie was fine too.

perhaps they all thought it was jordan. i loved the costumes
Curiousmama Fri 29-Jan-10 08:48:24
No they were saying Davina...there was ermmm something missing for it to be Jordan grin

Vinnie was acting very strangely. Why be so agro about it?
Yes, it made me feel sick tbh. A group of men turning on a female like pack animals.

It was very uncomfortable viewing.

Vinne is very very aggressive and bullying. I'd hate to be his wife.

It was hysterically funny, had me laughing out loud. They were in animal costumes for goodness sake on national tv. Hardly hardcore grin
Peaceflower Fri 29-Jan-10 22:09:40
It was meant to be funny, I think, but there was such an undertone that, ugh, it still freaks me out.

Nancy - I said that about his wife to DH. It must be hideous being married to him or being his child. They'll probably be on the Stately Homes thread in a few years (not that he will have bothered to take them to Stately Homes though - just bought them expensive socks).
