What TV programmes do your DCs age 3 - 5 enjoy?

We live in France and DCs don't watch TV just English language DVDs. We have Balamory, Fimbles, Thomas the Tank Engine, Maisy and Kipper.

Thinking about buying them something with episodes (as opposed to feature length movie) stuff for older children but don't know what is popular with this agegroup.

DD is 3. DS is almost 5. What would you recommend?

Dd1 is 4 and Charlie and Lola is her favourite. She has been terrified of Brum since she was tiny though - don't know if that's just her... She's just got into Lazytown, but I'm not sure I'd want to inflict that on you - I can't bear it.

How odd - my dd is scared of Brum too! Would second Charlie and Lola - it's fab - really imaginative and makes my dd (nearly 3) giggle out loud. It's good for adults to watch too, unlike loads of other kids programmes.

Oh yes, Night Garden and Pingu are dd2's fave raves - she is 2.

Ha ha, I'm so relieved that it isn't just dd1 with the Brum Fear! (And not just me with the Lazytown hatred either .

Thanks, didn't realise Charlie and Lola was on TV. We have a couple of the books.

What's Numberjacks? Sounds educational. DS is really into numbers at the mo....

Not sure what Lazytown but none of the adults seem to like it so will avoid that.

Off to check which ones are available on DVD......

BTW, what age do your DCs grow out of watching the same episodes again and again? So far mine are comforted by the repetition.

Don't avoid lazytown - it is isn't my favorite but has got ds1 thinking fruit is the best thing since sliced bread and he jumps around doing pressups and star jumps because sportacus does it in the programme.

Numberjacks is genius basic mathematics in a storyline format.

agree re lazy town- it is a bit brash and loud, but the programme was made to instill a healthy fitness message, and i think it does work.Just do something else whilst it is on!!

Numberjacks taught my son his numbers, and basic mathematics really quickly (although dd 15 months is terrified by the puzzler).

And Charlie and Lola Dvds are well worth their money, and i don't mind watching it too. Ds also loves the Koala brothers ,we have about 4 dvds of that, which are very well worn.

DD1 (3.8)
Peppa Pig
Dora the Explorer
Backyardigans (current fave)
Scooby Doo (close 2nd)
Lazytown (it's ok - makes them think sport and fuit is good but annoying for adults)
