Yes I noticed this last night too and thought to myself that the producers of 'Enders have obviously decided to do a bit of pro-breastfeeding stuff. And in the cafe too! I like the way she's just there feeding and they don't make a big deal of it. Makes a change - especially after Dawn gave up after about three minutes because she wanted to go out at night (which is probably quite realistic!).

I think the nicest bit was showing other people there (stacey and bradley I think) and everyone acting like it was perfectly normal and natural.

I still remember coronation street staying it would be inappropriate to show someone as young as sarah BF! Ok to show her getting pg though!

it was great; come in, sit on sofa, tita out, feed, carry on with your life

Yes was lovely to see and I think it was shown as being totally normal which is importand, and in soaps quite unusual.

Hope they carry on showing it in the same wat for the next six months - or even beyond. Suspect that they won't though - whats the oldest anyone has ever seen a 'soap baby' bf for?

soap babies disappear off screen before they are 6 months

I noticed it because it looked liek she was feeding it too high, otherwise i wouldnt have spotted it at all really.

I noticed it too, and an actual reference to breastfeeding which I've never heard before.

I know because she was only acting they had to cover up, but she did look a tad weird with that huge tent over her and the baby

Quite cool that she bf in the cafe too though (tent aside )
hope they keep it up and maybe do a storyline about WHO advice to go til 2? Still be nice if they keep it up for at least 6 months...

I liked the 'tent'! I've been worrying about bf-ing in public (planning to bf my dc2, due in jan) and thought the artfully draped shawl looked great! Will m-netters be sniggering at me if I do what she did?

actually, what would be a good story line is if she struggles slightly and isn't ashamed to ask for help and a BF counseller helps her

It would indeed.

I think its an important message to be sent to women - that bf may be difficult and does not necessarily come naturally but that problems can be overcome with the right support. Rather than the soaps usual thing of a few token breastfeeds followed by formula. It would make bf seem like an option to more women.

Shall we send them an MN email?

first things first though. think normalising as an option is the most important thing

Susanna Farnham BF on Brookside and they got a mother to wear the same clothes and actually showed her BFing her baby for real.
