I feel the need to comment on How to Look Good Naked...

The philosophy and concept behind it are great, all shapes, all sizes can be beautiful and celebrated, and I actually think Gok does the positive praise stuff really well, and the constant images of women with their wobbly (and not so wobbly) bits out and proud are effective too.

BUT

The clothes are foul, they wear FAR FAR too much makeup for the naked photo and fashion show, they blatantly get their teeth whitened in the intervening weeks and I'm not all that impressed by saying how gorgeous their bodies are then squeezing them into control pants...for a special occassion and "that" dress maybe...but under jeans and a pretty top???

Tigana, I wonder about the control pants stuff too, like you I think they are great for under a slinky dress but I would not like to wear them all the time. He was going on about the woman's tights getting sweaty, I'd imagine the big elasticated pants would get a bit sweaty too.

However I do have a soft spot for Gok, I could even fancy him (even although he is so not my type) if I wasn't so sure he was batting for the other team.

The thing is though that the woman are more likely to feel good naked if they feel good clothed so he builds up their self esteem by squeezing them into slinky clothes that they wouldn't normally choose so that they feel good.

Gok is gay which makes him so adorable to the women he works with as they know he is not judging them in a sexual way therefore they feel more comfortable getting naked. I think they look amazing and the make-up is for photographic effect, just as it is on models etc. so I think it's fitting. Wish I had the guts to go on it to be honest.

Also, wasnt he about five stone heavier as a teenager and quite bullied so he knows where these women who are uncomfortable in their skin are coming from.

I dont think there's any problem with the control pants - it's a process - because by the end they don't mind strutting about without them so he's proved in effect, that they don't really need them, but at the start he's building up their confidence - I know have knick knocks that I feel more confident and slimmer in - what women doesn't? Even my 7st 13lb sister does!

Okay...I understand the 'need' for control undies as the start of a process of confidence building...but the one this week was the only one I've heard him say didn't need them and they were purely for confidence.

Also understand the makeup is heavy because it is for photo's etc, but can't you have a photo taken that looks more natural? Once they have all that make up on, blush and shaders and lighteners etc, they hardly look like themselves...all freckles vanished for example...just think that is a bit of a shame.

Notice no one has defended his choice of clothes yet!

I think that was literally because she was so used to having a cover on her legs, so perhaps it was a case of knee-length tights or the control pants (which had the added bonus of smoothing everything out) Must say, I did think he's clothing choice was pretty horrendous this week but I love, love, love when he cuts their clothes up ie her dressing gown - it just goes to show how shape can be made from anything.

i was thinking about the make up too after the other nights ep... but then came to the conclusion that it's make up specifically for a black and white photo... i always remember that make up for hollywood during the black and white years was hideous and garish as it had to stand up to the black and white photography...

Was a bit concerned how long Gok's trousers were going to maintain contact with his bum cheeks this week, thought they were in grave danger of dropping to his ankles.
