Mad Hot Ballroom, tonight, if you have Sky Indie

Meant to watch a little of this while having lunch and ended up watching the whole thing it was that good. It is similar to Spellbound, in that you follow groups of American children toward a final competition, this time ballroom dancing rather than spelling. However the children you watch are all from poorer backgrounds, it is so inspirational to watch them as at no point does the film patronise them.

Unlike the ballroom dancing here which is far too Strictly Ballroom (the Aussie film not the tv show) with tons of make-up and silly outfits the competition seems more relaxed and a heck of a lot more fun. The children (all age about 10-12) have a whale of a time, I really recommend it to feel uplifted and won't spoil the end but you will be jumping up and down too cheering on the children!

I know it has been on a few times on Sky Indie already but with a silly title doing it no favours I hadn't much wanted to see it. Big mistake, I am watching it again tonight!

Should add that perhaps teaching dance in our inner city schools (in fact every school) with such enthusiasm would help children feel they were worth it?

I've seen this and it was fab!
