Very pleased for the 'pool, although not my team.

it was for the good of football that they went through - chelsea are just so unexciting to watch, and have been lucky with many of their results this season. Apologies to foxinsocks and other MN chelsea fans but it's true! And then there's the arrogance of mourinho that needs to be kept in check.

ha! aDad, I wasn't going to post but as you've been so polite....

yes, we're not playing well at the moment - had a feeling we wouldn't get through last night. Our back four looks dreadful without Carvalho (or indeed, with only one true central defender) and for the last few games, we've looked dog tired and just not up for it.

I had money on Liverpool going through (at 2/1) and on the first goal being scored before 27 minutes (at odds of around 2.1) to console myself last night!

I don't really care who gets through tonight though by rights, I should be cheering for AC Milan. Whoever it is, I hope they beat the cheating mickey mousers in Athens!

Cheating Mickey mousers
Does Drogba want to be a rug?
He spent most of his time on the floor(uninjured and acting good enough for an oscar)

LOL at cheating mickey mousers!

you're taking it in good grace generally though.

As a gooner, our season has been a shocker and over for a while now, so I'm really looking forward to the chelsea game this weekend! TBH there may not be much to play for other than pride for either team. But it's a chance to shout about something at last for us.

Dh had to stand in the hall during the penalty shootout, he couldnt watch, then woke up dd3 running round the room shouting and jumping up and down with glee!

He then told me he didnt know why us women made so much fuss over childbirth, this was so much worse! Thankfully he was only joking!

foxinsocks - I sincerely hope you will be supporting ManU

How was your trip to Manchester?

Kalou was fouled for your goal. But I'm not going to nit pick the game - you outplayed us and probably deserved the victory (says she through gritted teeth).

Arsenal - just about ALL we need this weekend (!).

Don't support Liverpool, but glad to see Chelsea knocked out! Hope Liverpool win now Shame Arsenal are getting pretty pants now.

oh Nadine - I posted back on my original thread at the time to thank everyone for their recommendations.

We had the most fabulous time - really enjoyed ourselves. In fact, will almost certainly go back for a weekend. M6, after the toll road, was solid so we had to take a diversion around the A34 (beautiful countryside, I have to say) so it took AGES and on the way back, there was another accident, so we spent hours in the car. And the aircon had stopped working!

We were overwhelmed with people's kindness - ds was in his football strip and people stopped to talk to us in the street, asked if we were enjoying ourselves, when do the kids go back to school yadda yadda. Very different from London where most people just push past you!

They only won on penaltys, a shit way to win and an even shitter way to loose.

Chelsea still rule!

Quootie - arsenal will be back!! We played pretty well all season but missed our 2 best strikers for most of it and it showed.

may I add to the debate by saying that Steven Gerrard is not in possession of a forehead?

thanks

Arsenal will be good in 2 or 3 years when the players have matured, too much "young stock" I think at the moment - great for the future but they have to be careful, IMHO, that they do have a future as they do not seem to be as strong a side as the other top teams at the mo. But I am "new" to football, so hope they prove me wrong!

Report
Quootiepie · 02/05/2007 11:27

Arsen (however you spell it) needs to think of the here and now a little bit, invest in some decent players for now. He seems to buy the young and cheap, which is great, he has a great eye, but it's showing this season IMHO the lack of fully matured players.
