The race to size 00

Did anyone else watch this ? I thought the girl who had to stop (Kate?) already had a lot of eating issues which came out when she discussed boarding school etc.

Also, was it just me or would someone who was 5ft 5 and 8 stone 3 really be a 00 ? It is my normal weight (no dieting required) and I am definitely a size 8 on the high street not a size 4/2 or whatever a 00 is ...

I fell asleep before the end. The last bit i remember seeing was that Louise (?) saying that if she carried on her boyfriend would probably split up with her and that Kate admitting to taking laxatives.
What happened after that ?

Incy - I think that was the point - you shouldn't be a 00 at any height (I suspect) It's unhealthy and obsessive. 00 is the size down from 0.

Kate ended up seeing a psychiatrist who said she was showing signs of bullemia - she admitted she had thrown up after eating a couple of times. She also mentioned she had a lot of issues with her weight going back to boarding school when she was one of the few girls in a mainly male school - apparently she was quite big and ate a lot. I think she enjoyed being thin and was becomoing a bit obsessed. She wasn't allowed to continue after that. Her last words were that eating too little makes you mad !

Louise got down to 8stone 3 and fitted into size 00 jeans. She seemed very sorted and didn't like her new body - she went on holiday and put 1/2 stone on within a week or so.

You could definitely see her starting to get hooked on it.
It's shocking !

I didn't watch all of it, but you could already see how damaging it was when Kate said very early on about feeling like half a person......quie scary stuff really.....

I watched it with interest - a few years ago I got really obsessed with diet and exercise and basically what the girls concluded was right - you go a little bit mad, its a scary place to be because it soon becomes your every waking thought.I was never more miserable than when I was super skinny.
I think Kate got her head around it a few weeks after the programme ended - It made for uncomfortable viewing though.

i don't know what kind of a message that show was trying to portray. I think some people may have watched it and still thought " Hmm, I wonder if I could do that"

I mean , obviously they weren't advocating it but they didn't seem to shout from the rooftops that it was wrong either IYSWIM. Louise didn't seem to look or feel that bad in her 00 jeans. And I think they were wrong to let someone do the experiment when they had obviously had previous food issues. Shouldn't they have been prepped by a psychogist in advance?

they BOTH seemed very excited about being so skinny.

I mean they were doing all the 'feel ill, tired ect' thing

but when Katy saw her 'skinny legs' she was really happy and that other one seemed really pleased when she got into the 00 jeans

PLUS she seemed a bit peeved when she had put 7lbs back on after her holiday at the end!

Louise didn't really fit that 00 though, did she? She said they were really tight.
What baffled me, was that at the start, they said she was 5'5 9st 8lb was it? And size 12. Well, I'm 5'4 10st 7lb and size 12 too, and my 12's aren't tight. So she must have been smaller than a 12 to begin with, hmm?

Yes, I am more pear shaped than Louise and I have to admit, I do buy a larger than 12 size top, as I find tops in many stores come up really small, and I like my tops a bit loose. I also take shrinkage in the washer into account.

I wonder how many women got up this morning and thought "I could do that for a few weeks" to get into those really small jeans that are so hard to give away...
The exercise I could be doing with though{hmm}

i think kate spicer is a good journalist - bright and down to earth so i was shocked at her experience - i think it showed that this mad dieting would make any of us loopy.
