Anyone else watching this and really enjoying it?
Am so far a bit at the graphic depiction of the murder victim, but everyone else is pretty easy on the eye especially that gorgeous Prosecutor...

Ah, ca alors, personne ne l'a vu?

Marina, I watched this the first time and found it really gripping (was going to say I loved it but it is not really that sort of programme). But I got very confused at the end. When you watch the end, we can have a conversation (e.g. why did they do xxxx and yyyy? was it just pure Frenchness?)

Marina · 10/04/2007 17:22

I promise we will have that conversation if I manage to stay up until 12.20am which is when they have kindly scheduled the end of episodes six and seven, the horrors
I had already sussed that Pierre's rich, kind friend might be embroiled in the main plot

aah you need a DVD recorder (the only way I managed it)!

Report
Marina · 10/04/2007 22:28

You, er, wouldn't happen to have that DVD still would you Florence...or, in exchange for undying gratitude...be willing to record the wretched thing for me? I am so appalled at the scheduling and really not sure I'll even make it to 11pm tonight (pitiful emoticon)

I can record it for you - but not if it's already started. I'll pull my self away from the discussion on LoM right now...

OK DVD recorder set up! I can see why you didn't think you'd make it to the bitter end...

That is very, very kind of you
I'll mail you! Thanks so much

Marina, are you still with this? I'm only 3 episodes in and as well as being so graphic (I just watched 'le fistf*cking' episode -- I could also have done without the scene in the toilet) it's totally ridiculous, isn't it?

Eg, sinister judge leaving the key exhibit of the address book aunsecured in his office and then, later, by an open window (he must be up to his neck in it -- whoops, no spoilers please)

And: Pierre knowing that Laure was watching Benoit, then being surprised when she said she'd seen them together. Um, doh.

Needless to say I am hooked like a good on

Watched one episode of this and it featured a murdered baby, again very graphic images. Disturbed me for ages, haven't dared watch it again!

bump please
just finished the last ep tonight.
So, who was the man in the last shot, the guy with the bag on his head, were we meant to know him?
WHY did the red-haired lawyer destroy the evidence exonerating her boss?
Am now starting to worry that this wasn't the last episode and I managed not to tape it
Because I am really very confused
Oh, and so did Benoit die?

Salut, ma pomme de terre cuite au four!
I need to mail florenceuk from home (don't seem to have her addy with me here) as she was so kind as to send me some DVDs of this - florence, you are a star, I am very grateful!
So basically I have the DVDs still to watch. Might treat myself Sat night and will hopefully be able to answer all these questions.
Dh took look one look at le juge and said, oh ffs, Robespierre!
We stopped after episode 2 because of florenceuk's kind offer.

Sorry for my spoilers but please get a move on, I am so confused.

Well at a guess, red haired lawyer is a hussy?
I will do my best to catch up just for you

just check that they actually do work first - then I can delete the episodes without guilt. It has been a while since I saw Spiral but I have to admit being confused as to the red-headed lawyer's behavious as well! We will wait for Marina's theory....

On another message board I've found the same questions raised, ie what was ginger lady doing, who was man in bag.
There seems to be a consensus that these things are cliffhangers for series two (bring it ON) but, well, it seems a bit crap to me. Nothing was really concluded.

Eeek, two of you on my case! I promise I will check them ce soir Florence and huge thanks once again for being so kind as to record and send them to me
It may take them a while to make the sequel, working on the assumption that they could all still be in shock from producing a series of this standard (am sure you both know that an awful lot of French TV feuilletons are really, really bad)

apparently this series went out in 2005

so surely the 2nd one must be along soon?

Report
Marina · 25/04/2007 15:11

Well, I went and had a good google rummage and Canal + were publicising Series 2 to show in France in Autumn 2006. So it looks like it was going ahead then. Not a great deal to be found though

BUT have not been able to watch them yet, sorry.

Great - hope you enjoy them (7hrs of violence, sexual deviance, psychological torture, angst and intrigue...)
