I watched it today for the 110th time & realised to my horror I was falling in love with Captain Von Trapp

Yep you are old now. I can't watch it because it reminds me of my mum, who loved it.

Aha - we watched it too !! Inspired me to book to see the London production with Connie - so we are going in June ! Fantastic - we love it !

The worst bit was when the nun who was in charge of the abbey (not quite sure of her official title) sang Climb Every Mountain, I'm sure I got goosebumps (Kath goes & buries her head in shame}

I saw 2 minutes of it. I had to leave the room before dh spotted that I was welling up. he would have been merciless.

DD1 watched some of it.

She was singing along, in her little girl voice.

I just had to squeeze her.

I LOVE IT! Have it on DVD . DS can sing all the words to Doe a deer and so long farewell, and gets his mini guitar out to sing Edelweiss. He's 3 in May. Oh dear.

Kath, I think Captain "You may call me Captain" Von Trapp would be a bit of a catch too..

I don't know what it is about this film, I start crying from the opening sequence right through to the end of Edelweiss at the song competition. The OH is just as bad (but no pink jumpers as yet).

Anyone ever gone to Singalongasoundofmusic? It's fantastic! But you never realise how many (unintentional?) double entendres there are in it till you're sitting in a cinema full of gay men who know it backwards and shout out (very) rude comments throughout!

Yes, Lovecat - saw at at the Prince Charles and at Kenwood. Fabulous! (Although it gets a bit slow after the first half when the singing becomes less frequent.)

Actually, I was probably too drunk to be concentrating on the film much by the second half, especially at Kenwood when we had a picnic with us!

Is it true they've stopped concerts there this year? I read something about locals complaining - miseries!!

I've been to the singalonga too. Went with a friend and took dd1 (who was 5 at the time) and her dd. We even did the fancy dress - Alpine gear, with dd in dirndl skirt and long blonde plaits. And when the compere woman asked dd her name she said 'Gretel' and got a big 'Aah' from the audience. It was great fun!
