I have mixed feelings about Movie Week, it depends on which movies and how/who they dress up.

Apparently Louise has now changed her story re the clothes. She said she was self conscious about her body and will wear more fitting clothes if she loses weight!

Fuck's sake. Silly mare.

I think people on the previous thread were horrible about Anastacia 'milking' being hurt. Hmm And Strictly had to make a decision somehow, so they went to the audience vote. Nothing wrong with that.

You know 'the rules' and how they have to follow 'the rules', is there anywhere that the rules are published for the public to see? Because if we only get to hear about a particular rule at the point that it needs to be adhered to then I think it's fair enough for me to suspect that they make some rules up as they are needed.

I do think it was right for Melvin to go as he was a pretty bad dancer, and I'm glad Anastacia is staying in as, even though her dance on Saturday wasn't great, her performance was more enjoyable than Melvin's. However, given that there is a possibility that she might have to pull out altogether in the near future, I do think that the rule might have turned out to be different if it was a lesser known celeb who was injured. If it had been Ore or Laura who had been badly injured and unable to dance I think they would have been encouraged to retire and give Melvin a walk-over in order to keep the numbers correct for future weeks.

I still think it came out right, although it came across as a bit dodgy. I would miss Anastacia if she left.

Anastacia is giving her entire fee to a breast cancer charity so for that alone, we should want her to stay in :)

Did anyone else say what movies they were doing on ITT? Or are the rest of them being coy?

Samcro · 04/10/2016 11:13

no no
its a dance show not a charity show

They get paid the sane whether they go out in week one or the final I thought?

Daisy is Mary Poppins.

I don't mean not voting her out. I just mean it would be a shame if she couldn't continue.

MrsJayy · 04/10/2016 11:17

Yes they get paid regardless .

I don't know how the fee works - you could be right Polkadots.

Thanks re Daisy. What dance is she doing? I wish they'd print them in a list - I can never remember!

Tim, this is from the Sun but: 'A BBC spokesman said: “Due to the nature of some of the content in the rules, publishing them in full would compromise our duty of care to participants.”'

Also the Radio Times says 'Strictly house rules state that if one of the bottom two pairings picks up an injury, then the dance-off is called off and the dancer with the lowest public vote gets sent home.'

I don't know the source of either of these quotes, obviously.

I don't agree about 'a lesser known celeb'; I don't think Anastacia is that well-known in the UK and that's why she was in the dance-off in the first place!

Louise lost a tremendous amount of weight years ago, and I wonder if she still has issues. Such a shame because she looks lovely.

There's no 'rules' they make it up as they go along!

Like the Tom Chambers semi final - he basically should have gone, but they needed a three contestant final...so he didn't.

Obviously there are rules, the whole format is rule-based. I bet the contestants and the professionals get a long list, including things like the obligation to turn up on ITT and the rule that they can have one week's bye if they're ill or injured. It would be silly to assume no-one has ever thought of the possibility of the dance-off being impossible and what to do in that event. It would be unfair for someone to be chucked out purely because they've had an injury which may clear up quickly, and on the day the injury is sustained it's difficult to come to any definite prognosis unless someone has had something like a fracture. It would be completely impractical to have a whole load of different rules depending on how serious the injury appears to be on first assessment.

I don't get why people are so indignant about this. Why does it matter whether Melvin goes this week or next?

Thanks for the new thread, Polka.

Someone on the previous thread mentioned the Pondray-Jamellia thing last year. Will someone please remind what that was? Brain like a sieve.

Clawdy I recall Louise lost a lot of weight for a programme about size zero.

Personally I think Louise's reason for requesting baggy clothes has always been due to feeling out of shape/fat whatever but she used the 'doing it for my kids and hot Jamie as an excuse.

If she had said the real reason, it would have

(a) drawn attention to her figure immediately which for someone with confidence issues, would just intensify her issues.

(b) seemed disingenuous considering the majority of women would love to have her figure - ok, she may be slightly bigger than she has been but she is still slim. How many people hate hearing slim people moan about how fat they are?

However, I wonder if she has now stated the real reason because she feels more comfortable in the environment, has seen larger women than her dress well and not be embarrassed? Just thinking it might be like when you go on holiday - certainly in my case, before I go, I hate my figure and try and lose weight then once I am there and realise women come in all shapes and sizes, I suddenly don't care what I look like in a bikini/swimsuit.

She used Jamie and the kids as an excuse but it backfired on her so she has now coughed up the real reason.

Whatever it is, she needs to just embrace the lycra and glitter - you only get one chance on SCD!

I guess it's a confidence thing with Louise. Maybe comparing herself negatively to how she looked/ felt when she was on magazine covers in the 90s. I think she's expressed herself badly about the reasons. I am sure she could wear more flattering outfits without feeling exposed.

I feel sorry for both Anastacia and Melvin. I think it is unfair to say Anastacia was milking things. She had to quickly respond to a situation she clearly hadn't anticipated. I hope she can continue. I am sorry for Melvin as it felt like he didn't get a chance to defend himself in a dance off. I thought he lovely on IT2 and it seemed like he and Janette genuinely enjoyed working together.

No prior rules as the poor audience had the warm up guy for 50 minutes extra on Saturday...that was why Melvin had such applause when he did his speech. A backstage person said Anastacia was very upset (imo understandably but poor timing) and would rather walk than DO but wanted to stay in the show. I think they should have both gone through to next week, suspended phone lines on those two alone, had the next lowest scoring dancer in a triple dance off with a double elimination. Panel state from the three who they want to save, four panel members so even if all three dancers got one vote each, the fourth would clinch it. Two go home hugging, third one goes through to week 4.

But is Anastasia actually fit to continue in the show? Sounds like she can't really raise her arms that high at all post -reconstruction. If that's the case, surely she's basically the female version of Whatshisface Boxer Dude last year?

I can't see her staying in long if she can't do any Armography. Particularly as her footwork is shit.

True Elspeth They should both have gone IMO. As I said before Grin
