I need a replacement for Castle

DH and I like to watch Castle on a Friday evening as it is not heavy going, likeable characters, bit of humour etc. But we only have two episodes left (yes we are a bit behind). Before Castle we used to watch Bones for the same reasons (but we did quit a couple of seasons ago as it got too silly)

Can anyone suggest a replacement for us? DH hates medical dramas (I watch those on my own), we loved the West Wing, Breaking Bad, Supernatural. I'd prefer something grounded in the real world as we watch enough superhero and fantasy stuff on other days!

Rizzoli and Isles is pretty good, same genre.

how about re watching Cold Feet?
It's streaming on the ITVHub and it's just as good as it was back in the day, it hasn't dated too much either
I know you said you wanted something grounded and in the real world but how about Bojack Horseman. It is the strangest thing I have ever watched and it is so surreal but it's brilliant!
Do you have an android box or fire stick or similar? I've had a lot of time off lately with a change in job roles (and been bad mam and sent my two to nursery on one of my days off) and I just picked a letter at random and searched movies with that letter and watched some, try it with TV xx

I have wondered about Rizzoli and Isles as I have enjoyed the books. I couldn't persuade DH to watch Cold Feet, even though I loved it first time around.
No android or fire stick. We have Sky though.

The TV series is different from the books, not as dark and with more humour.

Elementary: the American version of Sherlock with Jonny Lee Miller and Lucy Liu. Really good - Jonny Lee Miller is great.
Grantchester - I didn't think I'd like it but love it!
I know you don't fancy superhero stuff but we are watching Arrow as a family and loving it so you could give that a go on non-Fridays!

Ahh, we already watch Arrow, and Flash, and Supergirl (somewhat overloaded on the superheroes)

The Mysteries of Laura, NCIS, Criminal minds are all police/crime similar types?

I agree with someone up thread who recommended Elementary - it's a bit bonkers like Castle - easy going. You might like something like Blindspot or Quantico (but not as humorous as Castle).

Orange is the New black won me over. Elementary is great.

Thanks, a good list of choices to investigate there.

White collar is very good if you haven't seen it. Your viewing is pretty much the same as DH & I.

My easy programme is The Mentalist - I loved it when it was on to, then lost touch with it and am now catching up via DVD Smile

Elementary is brilliant. I prefer it to our Sherlock.

I was a die hard Bones fan too. I find it pretty hard going now. In part due to the weird way Emily Deschanel delivers Bones' lines now. It is so odd. She didn't do it up until about season 5.

Love The Mentalist too. I really miss it.

Rizzoli and Isles is also one we enjoy, although I think we are not very up to date.

I agree with Mysteries of Laura and big Rizzoli and Isles
watched the first Rosewood too which looked promising...

I was going to recommend White Collar as well. Suits seems to be in a similar vein. That's on my later list.
We've got one more season on Castle to watch from Love Film (doesn't seem to be available yet) and currently watching Veronica Mars which I'm not so sure about but will give one series a go.
I loved Fringe. A bit CSI crossed with X-Files.

White collar and Burn Notice are awesome. I think burn notice is a few years old now though, but at least you know you won't be left hanging when you start watching something that has already ended!

If you have netflix then an odd one that we loved was sense8. Bit of a weird concept but very well done!
