Pushy parenting alert. These girls are amazing, but gosh, what lives. Genevieve's mum very pushy, isn't she?

Just come on to comment on this.

Is it for real? Lily is like a Victoria Wood sketch. On the beach in her ice-skating outfit?? Like Victoria's channel swimmer having her swimming cap in with her pyjamas.

We said that about the outfit on the beach. Got to have been for effect. But mother seems genuine.

DH says Genevieve is going to tell her mother to do one eventually. She hasn't stopped having a go at her.

Especially as the outfits cost so much, too!

i though the little girl in the outfit on the beach was quite sweet. don't see anything wrong with it other thatn possibly manipulative film makers. Shame she will probably not get far, but she seemed to enjoy it apart from the contests.I think it's like most sports though that start at a young age. kids need to start when they're 3 otherwise it is hard to catch up so it would be a thing that is in the family. iykwim.

Thought it was a good programme though, wish bbc would make more like this....

Jane Torvil started skating when she was 8, it is possible to catch up if the talent is there.

I think there was some film makers manipulation. IME kids don't play out in their skating clothes. When they are learning a new element they often come off the ice with a wet bum and nobody wants to sit around like that.

Speaking for my daughter, she is passionate about skating, goes several times a week. She has made so many friends and it has done wonders for her self esteem and confidence. As for me I only went twice as a teen and was terrified of falling over, absolutely hated it. I don't know any parents like Genevieve's believe me she is not typical. The parents I know make friends with other parents and chat while our skaters get on with it. I think we would go insane with boredom otherwise.

I enjoyed the show. I would like to see more ice skating on tv.
