I'm a binge watcher on Netflix and looking for my next fix.

I'm almost finished second run through of Breaking Bad and was thinking of giving The Tudors a go. Anyone enjoy or otherwise?

I loved it. Thought JRM was badly very badly cast (OK as younger Henry) enjoyable despite this.

Ah, ok, thanks Judy. Not seen JRM in anything since Bend it Like Beckham so shall watch with interest.

It's gory though. I forward past the executions and the whole espisode where Anne is waiting to die.

I loved it! I was traumatised however, by the executions.

I loved it, and loved JRM in it! Well for the first couple of series, after that he didn't seem to bother doing an English accent anymore! 😄

Actually the best thing about The Tudors was Natalie Dormer, she stole the show IMO

Henry Cavill Grin

I really enjoyed it for sheer entertainment.

If you want to watch naked men oiling themselves at any given opportunity then you could give Spartacus a try....Blush

It's a load of bollox as far as historical accuracy but REALLY enjoyable and the customers are great.

I ended up hooked on discussion boards comparing the series and actually what happened so my expanded knowledge!Grin

It's worth watching definitely!

It's a good soap opera. I did that period for a level but couldn't remember much. I had to keep googling! Something it shows well I think is the way everyone is related to everyone else.

Oh it's fantastic old shite, I love how Henry portrays being old by talking in a stupid voice, he also wanks into a pot for no apparent reason in one episode.
Someone on here described it as Hollyoaks does History which sums it up.
You must watch Grin

I started watching it for a bit and then got really bored. The gratuitous sex scenes became so staged it was almost like the cast were saying to themselves here we go again. It was also so historically inaccurate it was laughable.

I can imagine the synopsis on the episode page of Netflix...

Episode 3 - Cardinal Wolsey fails to successfully negotiate a divorce with the Pope, meanwhile Henry wanks off in to a pot.

Grin

Maybe wankpots was a real thing Dr Lucy worsley should do a Bbc4 documentary called secret lives of the tudors where clothes slide off women and wanking recepticals

Historically it is truly appalling. However production values are good.

I gave up about halfway through series two though, I just couldn't stand that level of messing about with the truth. I don't mind a bit of reinterpretation, but doing stuff that flatly contradicts all the sources is not on.

Having said, I loved 'Rome' which came from the same HBO/BBC stable a couple of years before, even though it was mucking about with the known story something chronic too.

I enjoyed it too. Henry and Natalie both acted very well.
