Did anybody catch it last night (Fri) more4 @ 9pm? It was watchable. Dealing with the rise of right wing politics in line with current immigration policies. Could turn out to be a slow boiler.

OP posts:

Thank you!! I saw the trailer but then forgot what it was called, will find it on more4 now :)

As you say, OP, slow but promising, I thought. Really interesting in showing the families of far-right politicians and the effect of their political actions on them.

Just catching up with this. I am finding it good already. I like the actress playing Elin. She was Annika, the stalker undertaker in the Bridge 3. What with this and Thicker than Water I shall be happy for a few weeks.

A question for those who have seen last night's episode? (With some space so that you can look away if not)

At the end i thought i heard a gunshot - but not sure whose?

I was hoping there would be a thread about this! I think it's great, echoes of the Bridge. I don't recall a gunshot but will re watch the end later.

Ah, just came here to see if anyone was watching this too.

I've still got the first episode on the hard drive, I've been trying to work out who the people were in the meeting they didn't want Sarah to know about. Any ideas?

Two words. Yummy Mattias!

Just finished episode 2 on catchup; hoping to find time to get up to date tomorrow! I can't shed any light on the meeting, Muddling - sorry! I'm liking the fact that there are so many shades of grim - the Coalition Party (usual political shenanigans), the Assurance Party (political shenanigans + hateful xenophobia) and the neoNazis. At the moment, Elin and Simon appear to be the only good guys in it, but I guess there's plenty of time for others to reveal themselves.

I've been watching this too but haven't seen the latest episode yet. Now that Follow the Money is finished, I should have time to keep up. I'm enjoying it so far, though I'm not as gripped as with other Scandi thrillers.

Anyone still watching?
very sombre last night. The speed with which love's mother (can't remember her name!). has joined in with veritas. She really took no persuading, did she? Please can someone take simon under their wing because he needs someone to look after him!
The politics aspect and elin is getting very interesting too - maybe matt is what he seems, and someone else is the baddy?

Yes I'm watching. The ending was really grim. So her first task was to shoot a woman!

I couldn't help thinking her eyeliner was a bit of a giveaway. I can't remember if Elin met her (I too have forgotten her name,)after the mother staggered in front of Elin's car.

Yes, i think love's dad, or simon, might recognise her from the footage - there was a lot of her face showing. I think elin did meet her - did she stop to talk to simon at the hospital, then sister came up and brushed her off ? (I May be misremembering. But anyway i doubt that elin would recognise her - it was a fleeting encounter)
I'm not really folllowing the plotline about the 'leaked letter' and elin's eesignation and sarah - but presumably all will be explained!

So, i think simon has recognised her now....the poor boy, and also poor Love.

So gunnar said he didn't sign the leave of absence, but yes he did really - was he helping sarah to hide? From the other woman, who keeps incriminating documents in her drawer?

This has got really interesting now. I do like how Elin keeps getting caught when sneaking around to get info. Most programmes have the characters doing things perfectly which is just not how it would happen in real life.

That's true, Sotaku.

How do we think it will all end?!

No idea but my goodness, Mattias was such a horrible person. Totally cold blooded. Sofia really twisted that knife.
Simon is adorable. He was so sweet with the kidnapped little boy.

I thought Mattias would be in it to the end so that last episode was a surprise. He's great in this but most of the actors are as well. I remember him from another Scandi thriller. I think it was The Bridge (my fave). Simon is sweet so you can't help wanting things to turn out well for him, unlike his sister who was so spiteful to the point of joining up with racists for revenge. They haven't tied up the loose end of their mum's murder yet so I'm thinking its related to the stuff Elin is investigating. There'll be a lot in the finale. Can't wait.

Ireallydontseewhy · 27/05/2016 19:26

Hmm, i don't think simon can get away with it can he - he did join the gang in the stock exchange attack so is in some way implicated in all the deaths - morally as well as legally i mean.
The knife scene was very effective.

The mother's murder seems to have taken a bit of a back seat doesn't it?

I did wonder if it might have been a political group so that they could blame whatever group of people that they didn't want in the country iyswim.

Sotaku · 28/05/2016 13:40

I'm really disappointed with the final episode. I can understand leaving a few things to your imagination but it seems they left all the threads open. Racist bloke in prison but said its part of his plan and will gain even more support from it. I don't get why though since he was responsible for the deaths of innocent people in that siege on the office building so even someone who was a racist wouldn't support him. Simon left alone without a job or even a nest egg to raise Love somehow. His sister free to move on without anyone knowing she was a murderer. Elin and co. running the government in a coalition government with the racist party but dropping hints about her secretly working with the bloke in the glasses who killed Sarah, which she never even uncovered. It just seems like they left it so that they could get another series which is just annoying. Or is it just me?

Report
Sotaku · 28/05/2016 13:43

Oh and the company that was responsible for the mother's and Elin's colleague's murder have got away with it too.

Ah, that's what it is. I recorded it on series link but couldn't remember what/why. I seem to have a couple of episodes already.

Oh it's already finished? No wonder I have multiple episodes Blush

This is an unusually short thread for scandi drama Hmm
