Fucking hell they didn't pull any punches in the first episode did they! I don't quite know what to think of if. The scenes with the blonde prick in made me extremely uncomfortable. I'm glad there was less of those in the second episode

They definitely went for shock value.

Ye olde medievale rape porne.

I couldn't stomach it personally.

I couldn't watch past the 2nd episode. Too many willies flapping about for my liking.

Oh how I envy you. I wish I could watch it for the first time again.
The first episode is nothing, honestly nothing, compared to the rest of it.

DS1 is watching it for the first time, from the beginning. I'm really enjoying watching it again. We've watched the first two episodes, and already there's a lot of foreshadowing and little details in the dialogue that I didn't notice the first time around.

I've watched season 1 on nowtv but there is no more. I refuse to buy them on dvd. It's all I can think about. I need to watch the rest but can't afford to buy them AngryAngryAngry

It's brilliant OP. Enjoy.

I was a bit shocked at the nudity in the first episode. But I went on to adore that series, I am bereft now I have finished season 5.

I love the opening credits so much too.

I loved it, but agree that the shock factor gets worse - a lot worse as the show goes on.

Pipbin · 23/01/2016 18:40

Islemum. Does your local library have it to loan? You'd be surprised what they do have.

Report
islemum · 23/01/2016 18:43

Never thought of that. Will check on Monday! Fingers crossed! Thanks

We got to the middle of season 2 and gave up, there is only so long you can wait for a show to get good

I watched series 1 last year and loved it. I went out and bought all the box sets and watched them end to end over a weekend Grin

Report
Ludoole · 23/01/2016 20:11

If you have a CEX shop near you they sell box sets a lot cheaper.

Just checked online catalogue at library. No game of thrones DVD and book is loaned out.

I've decided to download on audible until nowtv have the boxset back on. This way I can listen whilst doing my housework (or sit on my bottom with a cup of tea).

Ludoole sorry I have no idea what a cex shop. I live rural which explains my ignorance perhaps.

I'm actually envious of you that you've the whole series (up to now) ahead of you! The nudity etc gets less in the later series but the violence gets worse. And the shocks just keep rolling in! Believe me, you'll look back at the end of series 5 & think how tame that first episode was!

It's brilliant. I binge watched the first four seasons in a couple of weeks. Enjoy.

Isle. Cex is a second hand shop for games, phones and DVDs.

gingerboy1912 · 23/01/2016 20:32

Enjoy it op. But brace yourself it will continue to shock all the way through.

AliceThrewTheFookingGlass · 23/01/2016 22:02

isle we are watching it on sky Atlantic. I'm not sure wether they will be showing series 2 afterwards though.

So it gets more rapey as the series go on then pipbin? We have two more episodes recording tonight to watch tomorrow. Besides the uncomfortable scenes I am enjoying it so far. I think. Grin

I tried last year - couldn't get past episode 1 and the violence. Now what is weird is that I love CSI, NCIS, Mentalist so I dont mind "dead" bodies, a bit of shooting, blood etc. But GoT just not for me. I nearly tried again yesterday as I know the nest of vipers think it is great but just couldn't face it!

Report
Sgtmajormummy · 23/01/2016 23:47

I watched the first episode to see what all the noise was about, and it was like playing Sean Bean Film Bingo:

Horseriding and swordplay (tick)
Snow and slush (yep)
Ratty furs (check)
Bibulous king (got it)
Underground candle-lit crypt (aha)
Ooh, incest, that's a bonus point!
And... We all know what's going to happen to the child who likes climbing.

I then tried to read the first book. On the beach.
I got half way through and started skipping chapters. Gave up in favour of a book I'd already read!

DS (read all the series) talked DH into reading them over Christmas and they have gleeful GoT conversations at mealtimes. He's on Book 3 of 13(?).

I don't know how much more of this I can take... Confused

Well I quite liked the 3rd episode and I've been looking forward to watching the 4th. I've even been tempted to watch it without DP today. I guess that's me hooked then Grin
