I'm re watching Lost and I still have no idea what the fuck it was all about!

I watched every episode when it was first on and loved it.

I'm still as confused as hell.

According to various websites they weren't dead for the whole programme.....which was my thought on the final episode. Some website reckoned they were rescued, went home and then died later on and gathered together in the church as they were all so important to each other.....and then went to heaven together.

Well it's a bit bad luck that they all died young. And why did they not seem to remember their island life?

I never got my head round the time travelling stuff when some of them were working for the Dharma Initiative but they were watching themselves working from the trees.

I never got my head round what the monster was. I know Rousseau said it was a security system. But wtf actually was it? What dragged the pilot out the plane?

Was it all just freaky, spooky stuff with the never ageing Jacob? So basically a haunted island with time travel portals?

Completely confused me. I loved it and watched it from the first episode. The last episode I was proper Confused.

Wish they'd just let them escape the creepy haunted island and all lived happily ever after. The end.

God I loved Sawyer it but it was totally mind-boggling and I did not understand it at all.

I hoped for a nice neat ending tying all the loose ends, wtf moments and questions together - obviously the last episode answered nothing!!!

I can't remember ever being as disappointed as I was at the end of Lost.

Another Sawyer fan here. He kept me watching long after I would have abandoned the programme. I think the writers were making it up season by season once it was renewed?
God, who remembers that kissing scene with Kate in the zoo cage?? Oh my heavens.

I resent the hours I wasted watching Lost. ...And I watched every single episode.

It's like the creators realised after 2 series that there was no way they could explain everything so they gave up trying and just made the story up as they went along with no attempt at a logical conclusion. The bastards.

I had forgotten how irrationally angry Lost makes me.

We gave up after season two I think. Reading the confusion carried on makes me glad I didn't waste any more time I think! I really wanted to start understanding what was happening, but kept getting more and more confused!!!

I really loved it, although Wikipedia helped me understand the last episode.
It was probably one series too long and they could have done without the time travelling.

No no! I rewatched these last year with my children, and we all loved it . We were genuinely bereft when it ended, and we still quote it ALL THE TIME Grin

They weren't dead all the time - only at the end, when they all met up to move on to the next world together, because despite their experiences afterwards, the island and their time on it was the best and most meaningful time of their lives.

Ahhh, welling up again...

DH gets very angry when he thinks about the last episode.

I never told him how much I loved Sawyer. He did tell me, however, how much he loved Kate. I still don't understand anything.

They all died in the plane crash, didn't they?

The rest was all in their imagination whilst they were waiting to move on to the next realm.....or something.

Anyway it was a crap ending to what started out as a great show.

Another Sawyer fan. The cage scene with Kate was my favourite.
I just loved so many of the characters and genuinely cared about them even if it didn't make sense. Loved Locke, Jin, even Ben.

No, they weren't dead until the very last scenes. All the island stuff was real.

The shot of the plane right at the end just showed that the plane was still there, long after the events had happened. Like a monument to them Grin

The premise of the show was superb and the first couple of series were great. As a pp has said, it did seem as if the writers realised they didn't have a chance of coming up with a satisfactory ending as it was far too complex. So about series 3/4 they just threw in crazy story lines.

My fave bits were Sawyer Grin, the cage scene, the series where sawyer and jin went to live in the commune in the 1970s and when they started to flash forward to them returning to the US.

Best jaw-dropping moment (imo) was the scene with Kate and Jack all dressed up in 'normal' life so you thought they had met previously (which was shocking enough) but then it became clear it was after so you realised they did escape from the island - loved it!!

Id forgotten the cage scene, have that to look forward to.

Did they die on the island before they were rescued then and imagined the rescue? Or were they actually rescued and then all died back in civilisation fairly soon afterwards. Because they all look the same age in the last episode? I suppose they may have lived for 40 years though and reverted to their island age for the afterlife if this was the most important part of their lives?

I still don't understand the smoke monster at all.

I've just watched it all the way through for the first time over the last couple of weeks.

It makes perfect sense to me!

They nicked so many storylines from other tv/films/myths/religion etc.

The smoke monster reminded me of glory in s5 of Buffy. He was trapped and just wanted to leave but the only way he could do so was by destroying the island. The effort of doing so also made him mortal again.

Re: them all looking the same age at the funeral, Christian said that some of them died much later than jack so them being young when together is kind of like the photo at the end of the shining. Surely in heaven we are all our young selves?

Jacob and his smoke monster twin are the Cain and Able of the island.

It was like so many historical dynastic disputes. Neither was good or evil. Their fake mum had lied to them so they both thought they were right.

I think that part of the problem with watching it as it was on TV that it took about 7 years for it all to air. I have a mEmory like a goldfish and would have forgotten stuff from one series to the next.

I like the Cain and Abel comparison, and the smoke monster wanting to escape but needing to destroy the island makes sense. Which I guess is why the others were so keen to protect the island.....they didn't want it escaping off the island and taking the evil to the rest of the world?

I love it, I wish I had the time to watch it all again.

ITA with onlywhenyouleave about the best bit of the whole 7 years, I vividly remember realising that it was a flash forward and not being able to wait for he next season.
