What is this about? Comedy? Satire?

Only been watching for the last 15 minutes.
It's got the worst acting currently on TV, never seen such wooden actors.i can't figure out wether it's meant to be a real suspense drama or Ricky gervais is going to suddenly jump out and say 'gotcha!'
Is anyone watching it?

I've watched the odd one. Very strange. Liz Hurley as queen? Herself and prince Cyrus are really just pantomime villains. I'm not sure what it's trying to be at all.

Totally bizarre. The young chap seems to be imitating Wills' voice, other than that none of it makes sense. I'm not sure wether it's supposed to be some kind of parody of the real royals.

I know this is a zombie but this series has been bought by Netflix and I've recently had the pleasure of viewing some of it. It's hypnotically awful. It's really bad in every respect, script, cast, bonkers storyline. QqqWonder how much they paid for it.

I absolutely love it. It's my guilty pleasure. It's like Dynasty with all the backstabbing and double-crossing ... but with better clothes. 😂

Honestly I'd rather watch The Royals - which is obviously batshit - than another season of The Crown which pretends its accurate whilst taking massive liberties.

I bet they loved making it. Camp as a row of tents. Or maybe it's Glamp?😁

Yy it looks so much fun. Like a telenovela.

And Liz Hurley looks fab. As does Joan Collins whenever she appears.

It's absolutely ridiculously batshit and I loved every second of it. Totally crazy but just an amazing escape!

Love Jasper, I'd happily have him as my bodyguard.

I saw Dame Joan on TV yesterday morning talking about the forthcoming Jubilee celebrations - for Her Majesty not for Q Liz Hurley. Apparently there's going to be a parade of Dames in Jaguar cars (!??). I may have misheard her term it Hags in Jags😀

I'm not sure if I'm enjoying this or not. Parts of it are very funny, parts of it are awful. The 2 female cousins who I assume are Beatrice and Eugenie type characters, I think that's quite mean.

And the king's brother, the Prince Andrew one, he's so hideous. The way he is with the waitress, housemaid, it's too creepy. I can't actually watch him, knowing that that sort of behaviour actually goes on in real life. Its just too much.

But equally it's very escapist and glamorous and I love anything that distracts me from my everyday life.

Glad someone has resurrected a thread about it, I hadn't seen it before then it popped up on Netflix recently.

There's a lot of it that is quite scathing if it's assumed to be a commentary on inherited wealth - and not just inherited wealth - also those people who try to infiltrate it or are part of modern wealthy families; and politicians too.

The uncle is the most obvious antagonist at the beginning, but it quickly shows how nearly all the characters are complicit in a system that thrives on privilege, intrigue, trading secrets and currying favour.

There are a few parts that, although obviously dramatised and ott, aren't that far removed from reality.

But I'm shallow. I watch it for the escapism and clothes ... and the bodyguards. Grin

Relax people, it's American. If you want history there are plenty of documentaries available. It's schlock. Take it as it is and enjoy it or watch something else.🍾

I love this show, I found it on Netflix last week and have watched all 4 series already. The backstabbing and bitchiness is comical, its like I’m watching modern day royal version of dynasty. Plus, I could watch jasper all day and all night and never get tired of him.

I'm so disappointed there wasn't a fifth season. It was wildly entertaining even though it sometimes felt like the writers changed their minds about the storylines half way through and suddenly veered in other directions.

Perhaps we should write our own endings like a Choose Your Own Adventure book Grin

Unfortunately Mr Schwann, series originator, apparently couldn't keep his hands to himself and is now persona non grata in tv world, so it seems no S5.
