Did anyone watch the last days of Rasputin last night, Ch 5?

He reminded me of Russell Brand in a previous life!

Actor reminded me of Christopher Ecclestone.

Anyone have the Boney M Song on a loop in their head all through the programme? (Its just come back in my head now!)

Although in the song it says he was the lover of the Russian Queen, yet the programme says he wasnt.

Come on, someone must have!

And its Charles l next week, looking forward to that too.

Nice to see channel 5 doing decent programmes for once.

I missed it but will try and catch it online. I've always been fascinated by the last Romanovs and was so disappointed when all the bodies were found and proved that none of them escaped. Had DS been a girl he would most likely have been called Tatiana, but perhaps his sex worked in his favour. Naming a child after a murder victim isn't the most cheerful start to life!

Agree on the Christopher Eccleston image.

Agree on the Boney M song.

Was interested in his death via poison/shooting.
Are we to believe he ate and drank cyanide for 4 hours with no effect - or maybe the cyanide was simply "past it's sell by date!!!".

Regardless of the above it was a fascinating programme.

Im sure he was a hypnotist, why else would women succumb to him? He want (in rl photos) exactly good looking, but must have had some charisma.

Ooh i missed it. Growing up i found a book on Rasputin in my Dad's bookcase, in the pics he had mesmerising eyes. Call me an old cynic but to a v catholic sheltered Zsarina and the ladies of that society, he prob had that 'bit of rough' appeal together with his deliciously shocking " its ok to sin because God expects us to sin and repent".

Re: the cyanide, they put that down to his alcoholism, it would slow the cyanide's effect.

From what I remember from History lessons he didn't have an affair with Alexandra it was a smear campaign to discredit the monarchy prior to the revolution. She was a bit obsessed with him as he appeared to be healing her hemophiliac son. There was a cat who really was gone :)
