The law firm was his and his ex wife's I think? So at end of last series or series before when he didn't go back to her then I assume he left the firm.

am frustrated with the programme - not as funny as it used to be. Plus I hate her eldest son as he always seems so useless.

Am bit tired and sleep deprived so feeling quite harsh today.

I watched the first episode of the new series & havent watched anymore. Cant believe they made michael sleep with that girl. I didnt like any of her kids really.

It's not just me is it? This series isn't as good as before?!

Michael has had a personality transplant, the weird comedy characters are getting more airtime & there's some weird love story brewing between Aunty Brenda & Dai Davis.

I agree. This series is weak... Stella has romantic problems AGAIN! But next up a dishy doctor to fancy her.

Not nearly as good as it was.

The best series was the first one.

I am so shallow....It lost its sparkle for me when the gorgeous Kenny Doherty left Grin

The only thing that would redeem it for me would be if Rob Morgan (her first love & Luke's dad) came back and made a go of it with her. Cannot stand Little Alan this series, all he does is grimace (badly). Also, where are Suni's parents, Dai and Paula etc?

Report
Tigresswoods · 18/03/2015 19:27

Didn't Dai & Paula move to Spain?

Maybe Suni's parents are not needed as Suni's taken Em to India.

Better episode this week I thought. Less of the silly stories & actually moving storylines forward.

Loving Big Alan & Celia. Also like that Paula is back. So do we think stella & michael will make it up?!

I'm still watching but finding it mildly annoying.

Luke is behaving like an idiot, surely he isn't naive enough to think he was being lent that money as a favour. And Zoe seems to have absolutely no financial awareness.

Also, I don't like the fact that no one has even mentioned Emma.

Report
Tigresswoods · 21/03/2015 19:45

Agreed Zoe ISO a wet weekend but some people are genuinely that naive.

Luke is also pretty stupid. Will he return to prison for some silly reason?

Report
no73 · 08/04/2015 12:05

I'd totally forgotten Emma! Yes this series is nowhere near as good as the others.

Luke is a pratt and surely no-one in this day and age does not know that loan sharks are the worst thing you can possibly do as they will fleece you. How can you be so stupid as Zoe is about their financial situation?!?! To go from having to live with your MIL due to lack of money to be able to suddenly move into a nice house and by furniture for it.

Stella's love life would have been so much better if her and Michael had worked out. I still don't know what happened to him to stop him being a lawyer he was working out of Stella's house and why on earth could he not find another job???

Its all nonsense.

I've also been wondering if I've missed some episodes. Where did Emma, Sunni and Baby go (and Sunni's parents)?

Had high hopes for this series, as Gavin and Stacey was so good, but have been sorely disappointed. First series I enjoyed, second, not so much - now it's just descended into ridiculousness.

A couple of the actors are very good - those who play Auntie Brenda, Nadine (and her husband), Big Al (Little Al is totally crap), Beyoncé was good. New girlfriend of youngest son is awful (acting-wise)
The camp Funeral chap is so funny (and what happened to that Funeral Company once Paula left - no more funerals in Pontyberri - what's happening with all the dead bodies now)? The character who keeps saying 'cocking this' and cocking that' gets right on my nerves. I grew up in S Wales, and never heard anyone saying that, nor heard anyone use the term 'Presh" (nor, actually, 'Whyfor are you doing this' or 'Whereto you going'). Maybe different phrases in some of the valleys, but I never heard them.

Am glad 'Daddy' has taken a back seat - his character was stupid. The programme is now turning into a complete farce. I keep watching, hoping it will pick up again, but not sure how long I can keep going.

And you can tell Ruth Jones herself is writing the script - otherwise why would she have such a queue of handsome men waiting to snap her up? Hmm Grin

I agree this series has not been so great. Very annoying in places. This weeks episode was a bit better with the stag and hen dos. I hate the way that everything coming up is flagged up way ahead eg the gambling or the doctor falling for Stella. And why is she seemingly irresistible to all men?

I loved Dadi though. Will miss him. I agree that some of the actors are very good, Bobby, Big Al, auntie Brenda, Dai, Nadine, most of the older characters. Most of the younger element not so good.

We live in S. Wales but not Valleys and never hear 'cocking' either. It used to be 'cowing' around here.

I hate the Nursing teacher who seems to turn up everywhere.

Daddy took a back seat cos the actor died, didn't he?
I love Ramon tikarim, (Google what he looked like in This Life)but not his character in Stella.
I think my dd may be a nascent MNetter as she said, all horrified, "Stella isn't going to get back with that cheating Michael!"
Why did Michael come to Pontyberry of all places?

Aaww - didn't realise Howell Jones had died. I wonder why he's not been written out of the script properly, then, rather than just left hanging in the air? Another reason I suspect I may have missed some episodes.

Yes, Best - it's 'cowing' I remember Grin
Even Auntie Brenda's role seemed a bit daft this week, and the SM Nurse is becoming annoying, I agree. Sometimes I've chuckled at her, but other times, just think "What"?

And the pregnant one, she's annoying me. She keeps saying she can't do things because of 'the pregnancy' but playing in a football match last week didn't seem to bother her at all Hmm.

I'm really sad that this series is so bad. It used to be a good mix of drama and comedy and now it's just a ridiculous farce. The first series was brilliant.

I'm still watching it to see it through to the end but I'll be amazed if they make another series.

hackmum · 09/04/2015 09:46

I haven't seen the latest series (don't have Sky so watched the others on DVD) - they should have stopped while they were still on top.

I also didn't realise Howell Jones had died. But they actually killed off the character, and then brought him back to life, didn't they? I thought that was one of the more far-fetched plots in Stella.

I have relatives in the Valleys, and I have heard 'Where to are you going?' I haven't heard 'cocking', but I think that's simply supposed to be a substitute for 'fucking'.

Report
Tigresswoods · 09/04/2015 15:21

Oh come in Evans where in ScWales did you live? I was nr the border but people still said "where to is xyz?"

Never heard "presh" until watching Stella mind.

I keep waiting for them to announce Daddy's death, I'm guessing it will be at the end credits of the last episode in the series?

Is it me or has Nadine had a personality transplant. I'm sure she was never this Mardy.

Never heard "cocking" either but I like the idea it's a substitute swear word. The Rhian character does seem quite pointless.

' Where to' is more a SOuth east Wales thing. I'm from Swansea and can honestly say I've never heard it said down here. However I work in Cardiff and my colleagues from Barry and Newport are always saying it.

Best is west I am an ex Barry girl and I can confirm that I say it a lot. Plus the fact Ruth Jones is from Bridgend I think and I am pretty sure they say it there

Inking the ending bit until that knock at the door Sad

Oh yes the ending upset me too! I SO want Michael and Stella to be a couple. I LOVE Patrick Baladi.

However, I am hoping the next series will expose the really obvious fact that the dates don't add up so he can't be the father.

i.e the scene at the end is two months after Michael started work, but the fling with Beyonce was much more than four weeks before he and Stella got back together.

Report
Pixel · 13/04/2015 20:04

Well I hope the first thing he does is demand a DNA test. Beyonce has probably had every bloke that ever went in that pub .
