I like Kay Mellor and it has a great cast. Anyone else giving it a go?

Ninjabread Tue 05-Aug-14 22:00:57

What a pile of clichéd bollocks shit.

PittTheYounger Tue 05-Aug-14 22:02:02

its really shit
sub casualty standard - drama for those who like chick lit.
plot lines visible from miles away - cliched characters and patronising ' northern grit"

onedev Tue 05-Aug-14 22:02:46

Really Ninja - it really got me, I'm crying my eyes out!

Captainbarnacles1101 Tue 05-Aug-14 22:03:20

Well that's me told!

I like chit like so I guess this is right up my street.

Ninjabread Tue 05-Aug-14 22:03:38

And Heremoine Norris can only play glacial posh bitches convincingly.

It's not exactly nuanced is it!

Ninjabread Tue 05-Aug-14 22:06:30

Katherine Parkinson is a very versatile actress though.

Oblique27 Tue 05-Aug-14 22:07:02

Oh dear, wanted to like this but it made the plot of " The Syndicate" ( gritty deserving northerners win millions on the lottery) seem plausible.....very similar themes to her usual dramas, valiant Wimmin and useless men sad.....could have been interesting and God knows there is nothing else to watch......

PittTheYounger Tue 05-Aug-14 22:07:15

you can see the plot coming from half a mile away. I don't know why Mellor is seen as anything more than a soap opera writer.

Southeastdweller Tue 05-Aug-14 22:07:17

How can anyone not know their spouse was made redundant five months ago? And no money coming in in that time?

PittTheYounger Tue 05-Aug-14 22:07:42

do NO northern people NOT brew up all the time and live near their parents? Seemingly not

PittTheYounger Tue 05-Aug-14 22:08:27

try masters of sex on more 4

altho might not make sense if you havent watched s1

OR download ray donovan off sky - amazing

Lighthousekeeping Tue 05-Aug-14 22:08:40

Well, I thought there would be abit more humour in it! I've always loved Will Mellor. It's true though most of the actors seem to play the same parts every time.

Lighthousekeeping Tue 05-Aug-14 22:10:10

Masters of Sex is bloody brilliant.

QueenFuri Tue 05-Aug-14 22:16:33

Ah well I enjoyed it will watch again.

onedev Tue 05-Aug-14 22:17:38

I enjoyed it grin

MrsJoeDolan Tue 05-Aug-14 22:26:52

the real surprise was that Gaynor Faye wasn't in it.

Ellenora5 Tue 05-Aug-14 22:50:27

Oh I liked it, had a bit of cry when the crash happened but that could have been more to do with the song being played, I'll stick with it I think

I love Ray Donovan, will be watching tonights episode soon, didn't like masters of sex, can't stand Michael Sheen

I like a variety of tv, you can like stuff like In The Club and also like Ray

PollyCazaletWannabe Tue 05-Aug-14 22:54:53

The bank robbery storyline really pissed me off. How ridiculous! Otherwise I thought it was OK.

KenDoddsDadsDog Tue 05-Aug-14 22:58:01

I liked it. Especially Joan and Melanie from Early Doors!

Lighthousekeeping Tue 05-Aug-14 23:06:49

I like a variety of tv as well. I lived Cutting It and Mistresses blush

Southeastdweller Wed 06-Aug-14 08:14:39

I agree the bank storyline was ridiculous...the only believable thing about the relationship in last nights episode was when she shouted at him about not being able to find a job in the five months since he was made redundant.

Groovee Wed 06-Aug-14 09:24:51

I quite enjoyed it, but I'm needing something like this to take my mind off daily life!

It's trying to remember its on will be my difficulty as I only recorded it downstairs.

amyhamster Wed 06-Aug-14 09:26:46

the real surprise was that Gaynor Faye wasn't in it

lol that is so true

I was expecting her to turn up as a midwife at least <there's still time>
