Dangerous dog owners & proud

On ch5 at the moment. It has begun with people who own illegal/banned dogs. If the dog is illegal why are they showing it off on tv. Surely they would be worried about it getting taken away.

The owners don't come across as 'gifted'!!

Ha, ha - that's what I was thinking!! Great minds think alike... Unlike those guys, who probably have an IQ of about 2 between them!!

(And why am I watching this crap? Because I need a distraction and there is nothing else on... )

Scary thing is that where I live (actually a nice part of North London) there are heaps of guys like that strutting around with their dogs... It's a worry because I am sure some of them are nice guys with nice dogs, but no doubt not all of them are.

blardy hell Asda turned up and i missed some

this has been going on for awhile,it's really sad for the dogs, the amount of using dogs as protection will just increase, the reason behind having these dogs by their side is quite clever and as long as their not pure serve the purpose i suppose

when i was told why they have these dogs makes perfect sense really, dosent make it right though, replace one weapon with another

Report
ilovechristmas1 · 04/08/2014 21:41

sorry meant to say,a big reason for the increase in these dogs is that years ago these young men carried knives, the knives were illegal and could be prosecuted for carrying one as protection

hence the idea that having a dog as protection, one that is seen as aggressive is much better, cant be arrested like you could carrying a knife etc

I think you need a licence to own a dog to prevent dumb arses like these from owning them! Made me so angry, tgey are the types to leave dog mess on the floor.

I am cringeing at this programme but I can't seem to turn it off. That guy hanging about the woods with his mates needs a hobby coz training dogs to fight isn't one.

what do these people think about when they read about dog attacks on innocent people? how can they justify it?

That bit where your man had that vicious dog around his two year old, who was poking the dog in the mouth with his pudgy little fingers...Confused I was watching that through my fingers. Accident waiting to happen.

Craic - I was the same. Also with the woman who is training her dog, she has a 10 yr old.

I agree that all dogs should be on leads and muzzled.

It's morons like that, that make some people believe it the breed not the owner. Sorry but if my dogs attacked someone they would be out with no second chance and I'd of failed as an owner! Angry

I haven't seen the programme and frankly don't want to. What I do want is to know how, if the dogs in this documentary (? is that what it is?) are banned breeds who aren't on the exempt list, the owners are getting away with it?

I mean, if I went on a TV programme to demonstrate how clever I am at stealing from M&S I'm pretty sure the police would be involved pdq and I'd be arrested.

There was a Facebook video going around only a couple of days ago, taken by a member of the public that same day. It showed young men abusing dogs. Today I read that because it had been reported to the police and RSPCA and the men were identified they'd been arrested and one convicted. What makes the people in this TV programme immune from arrest?

I was so worried about the model when her dogs started fighting! She was so lucky not to get a nasty bite as she tried to pull them apart. Her heart is in the right place but she was powerless to control them.

I think it's a case where humans have really screwed up. My grandad bred pits, I was brought up around them (this is way before the breed issues)
If you breed two good dogs, with good temperaments, and then bring them up properly, the risk is massively minimised.
Then you get eejits who breed from anything, train them to fight. On the other side you have the dog that's over fed, under exercised and is followed round by a child poking and prodding and bugging it, dog can't get away and reacts the only way it knows
I'm a huge fan of crates, not for locking the dog away, but that is the dogs space, dog can go in there and not be disturbed.
People underestimate what they can take on, the rescue I volunteer for is rammed with staffies, and I think Akitas will be the next ones
I have a husky here at the minute, I walked 7km with her today, and played, and she's been loose with me all day, plus a 2km walk this afternoon. She's still destroyed (my own fault) a pair of uggs in the one hour I was out getting some food
How many people have time to walk 10km a day with one? Not many
I could go on this subject forever Grin but it starts with the breeding and goes from there, plus a tired dog (from walks) is generally a happy dog

It's quite sad and very disgusting. I love dogs and they do have that natural protective instinct BUT that what was shown, was what can be beautiful breeds trained by animals. Credit to the guy who saw error and corrected his dog. So much could be said but the people on the programme have now put a more damning impact on all dog owners and this breed. SIGH

God4me · 05/08/2014 02:10

I agree the model truly cares for her dogs but demonstrated she does not have absolutely control. Although they are now legal and need muzzles, a truly vexed dog can remove a muzzle.

Pitts are supposed to be a banned breed. Non should be exempt at all.

I understand when people say it's not the dog it's the owner but it's the bloody law for gods sake.

All dogs in public must be on a lead and if found not to they should be fined.
We need to introduce licensing again and all dogs should be neutered and microchipped.

Same for cats too.

Animals are not play things. They are living, breathing things.

I really don't agree with you your ok saying none should be exempt at all but to some people them exempt dogs are family

My mum was bit on her arm by a Pitt that was normally a calm dog.
She was minding her own business in a park.

They shouldn't be given any chances. The law is the law for a reason.

How many times do we hear if kids being mauled or murdered? It's ridiculous.

Report
Aeroflotgirl · 05/08/2014 11:36

What these 'owners' on the programme were doing was irresponsible and reckless, only a natter of time before those dogs hurt somebody. I think the programme was about reckless owners not responsible ones.
