Sorry I just turned it on but in the first second the Asian dad really pissed me off. What a wanker, can't watch anymore. So much for boosting kids self-esteem. Must turn off now because I FEAR THIS COULD TURN INTO A RANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

god i am so glad my parents didn't hassle me like this

I do remember going for the test for my school aged 5, but my parents just took me along and said "have fun"

definitely do not agree with Mehdin's dad and his views ... unfortunately at the start i heard Mehdin says that nothing good comes of people who go to state schools which i find just plain shocking

Blimey, poor kids, it's awful isn't it. I mean, want the best for them, but let them be kids at the same time. The pressure they must feel. It's not right.
Listen to that asian dad, "it's a competition, I've got to win'

I'm now watching Everybody Loves Raymond on Paramount. I feel calm and I'm getting a laugh.

My Mum and Dad bought me a cuddly badger as a reward

Sadly, I am going to be one of those "pushy parents". Hopefully, I won't be as horrible as that Asian kid's dad. (Only saw the last moment of the programme last night and making that judgement by your comments....).

In saying all of that...can I just be a b a moment and put in that in a way I had a niggling hope that the kid didn't get into the Grammar school - seeing his dad's face would have been PRICELESS!!!!!!

I hate to think what the Asian would have done it the little boy didn't get in - ffs out in the street looking for the postman.

I loved the bit where Alex was talking to Mr Crofts the headmaster - that was so sweet.

Malory - because he's heard on the news that if you go to private school, you'll be discriminated against by universities, so he's shortening the odds...

What a dreadful man he was to be sure.

What a dreadful message he's sending to his son.

dh and I were really scared for Mehdin and what his dad would have done to him if he did not get in.

Agree with Malory that his dad should have just paid for him to go to the prep school, if he was concerned about shortening the odds. But I guess the house, cars and microphone (lol) are more important.
