Is it just me or is anyone else struggling to hear what they are saying? I feel like I'm listening through cotton wool ear plugs.

VivaLeBeaver Mon 21-Apr-14 21:12:20

I was just comingon to say I'm sick of the mumbling. I've turned the TV up so its not that and its not the accent either. Spoiling it.

Retropear Mon 21-Apr-14 21:14:02

Us too.

Not devoting 3 nights to it,that's for sure.

BigW Mon 21-Apr-14 21:15:30

Yep, DH just moaned that he couldn't hear a thing.

Retropear Mon 21-Apr-14 21:19:06

The aunt is too glamorous too.

VivaLeBeaver Mon 21-Apr-14 21:19:32

Can't understand how they can spend so much money filming it and when they do previews or whatever how come someone doesn't realise the sound needs tweaking?

Maybe they think it adds to the rustic spirit? hmm. I thought there was a funny near constant hum but I think its meant to be wind noise. Which makes it worse.

AtYourCervix Mon 21-Apr-14 21:20:37

The sound is turrible.

thenightsky Mon 21-Apr-14 21:21:48

phew... I thought my telly was on the blink grin

bleedingheart Mon 21-Apr-14 21:21:49

Awful. Couldn't watch it and I was looking forward to it too.

VivaLeBeaver Mon 21-Apr-14 21:23:13

I know, I've been looking forward to it all week.

Ingles2 Mon 21-Apr-14 21:24:05

Hah! We thought exactly the same here. the Sound is dreadful.. Am upstairs mnetting now, can't be bothered to strain to hear it

MrsJohnDeere Mon 21-Apr-14 21:24:52

Given up on it here.

AngelsWithSilverWings Mon 21-Apr-14 21:25:12

Just looked for this thread to see if anyone else was struggling to understand the dialogue! Glad it's not just me.

I've had to put subtitles on.

AtYourCervix Mon 21-Apr-14 21:31:21

Mumbly.

And muddy.

WetAugust Mon 21-Apr-14 21:32:44

I gave up 12 minutes in. Couldn't hear it and am fed up peering into the darkness to try to see what's going on.

Whoever directed this should be sacked.

Ellenora5 Mon 21-Apr-14 21:35:46

Same here, haven't a clue what they are saying or what is going on, not going to bother with now, 35 minutes is enough

I even tried subtitles but none available.

Dumplings4ever Mon 21-Apr-14 21:36:44

Ive had to put subtitles on

Carnationmilk Mon 21-Apr-14 21:37:00

Sound is crap and is it just me or have they changed bits?

Dumplings4ever Mon 21-Apr-14 21:37:14

Fruitpastille - they are available on freeview

baldisbeautiful Mon 21-Apr-14 21:37:26

Totally agree. Telly turned right up and still struggling. Luckily DH asleep as he would have turned over by now!!

thegreatestMadHairDayinhistory Mon 21-Apr-14 21:37:39

Me too. I had my sound turned up to about 50 and couldnt hear a thing. It seemed desperately slow too. Given up and watching West wing smile

I even tried subtitles but none available.

"Is it just me or is anyone else struggling to hear what they are saying? I feel like I'm listening through cotton wool ear plugs."

I thought it was just my old age. The sound quality is terrible. I have moved to the upstairs TV, which is newer and it has helped a little. I'm not sure I am going to stick with it over the next two nights.

I am disappointed because I loved the book. I also wanted to see the locations because a lot of it was filmed not far from where I used to live, and where I live now - most of the locations, apart from the beach ones were filmed in Yorkshire.
