DS is scared stiff of the teletubbies! Anyone else experienced anything like this?!

Hi, was just wondering if anyone else has had this kind of experience.
Ds (19m)was watching c beebies a couple of weeks ago and the teletubbies came on. He has never watched them before. He literally screamed when the 'periscope thing' came out of the ground! He wouldn't stop crying until I turned it over!
I thought maybe it was just one of those things, but he has just done the same thing again!

He rarely watches tv, he mainly watches his baby bright dvds which he loves to bits.

Ds2 hates the baby in the sun. Oh, and is terrified of Mr Tumble from Something Special and of "BIG PICTURE!" man from Smarteenies when he puts his had on and yells loud. Ds2 was 2 in May so you may have a wait yet

Mind you ... he'll happily watch Finding Nemo (which ds1 at 5 is still frightened of bits of it) without even flinching... odd child.

My 19 month old hides behind the sofa if razzle dazzle comes on - he doesnt like the little orange thingy and he used to be frightened of storymakers when it turned midnight!

Glad ds isn't the only one then! His little face crumpled up as soon as teletubbies started! So sweet!
He loves the woman from balamoray, sorry don't know their names yet, the one from the nursery!

He also loves watching phillip schofield! lol

This thread came up about a month ago, although I can't find it now, and you are not alone, loads of people said the same. Things kids found scary were: the baby/sun thing, the periscope, the dancing bear, the noo-noo, the one where the valley fills up with water and a boat appears.

Strange isn't it. With my dd, she LOVED teletubbies when she was younger but then at the age of 2.6 suddenly started finding it quite scary. She also can't stand underground ernie, and robbie rotten in lazytown (thank god as that is an awful program). She now sprints out of the room, slamming the door behind her.

Thought this may have been talked about before. I suppose kids tastes change as they grow. He really giggles when phillip comes on tv, think he likes people with smiley faces!
He hasn't encountered the tweenies yet, that should be interesting!

I remember a feeling of absolute terror when I was little watching punch and judy shows with all the physical violence. Also used to cry my eyes out if people started with the old slapstick, custard pie throwing things too on telly.

My DD used to go into hysterics if she saw Morris Dancers at summer fetes etc. I used to have to turn her buggy away from them.

DS (2.8) is terrified of Mr Tumble, and also of the bit in Big Cook Little Cook where they're washing up and little cook gets suds on his face.

Oh I am SO glad there are other children who fear Mr Tumble and the Big Picture man!

I'd forgotten about Brum too - we don't watch that anymore because ds2 hates it when Brum gets into peril, really gets upset. I think because it's more "real" than something like Bob the Builder or Finding Nemo, it feels much more like "real" peril.

dd1 was terrified of Aunty Mabel (Come Outside) for no reason she could explain. She would turn the tv off if even a trailer for it came on.

ds was scared of the rubbish trucks in the counting sequence, which was wierd, since he was facinated by them in real life.

Oh MB my dd was terrified of the Lion and the Bear too. Really scared.

She's 7 now - it popped up on tv the other day and I reminded her about it. She went all nonchalant about it and said she hadn't been really.
