Odd time slot but sounds similar to Homeland in terms of being action packed and based on an Israeli series. I wonder why it's on Saturday rather than Sunday?

I will record it as it clashes with the Bridge. It is repeated on Tuesday at 1.05 am also.

I'm looking forward to it too. Have never got round to Homeland so have no frame of reference there.

I'll probably watch it on Ch4+1 cos I'm a rebel like that sometimes Grin

It gets a very good review in the Radio Times (not sure if that means much). They commented that it is more like an action packed film rather than a tv series:

Imagine your family will die unless you agree to do something unthinkable. Imagine being taken captive in your own home by rogue government agents who know everything about you and have friends in high places. These are the predicaments of Ellen (Toni Collette), surgeon to the US President and mother of two, as she and her family are caught up in a larger conspiracy.

It would be wrong to say much more about the plot when Hostages does such a good job of keeping us guessing. There isn’t enough television like this that simply grabs our attention by the lapels from the start and refuses to let go. It’s what blockbuster movies do routinely, but the demands of small-screen storytelling mean we’re accustomed to slow patches in every plot.

Not here. From the start, Hostages grips like a tourniquet and tightens steadily. The series’ overlord is Jerry Bruckheimer of CSI fame, so not a frame is wasted. It’s like a fast-food version of Homeland: nothing fancy, just tasty, slick and very moreish.

Oh god it has only just started and I'm already confused. It's like having Homeland deja vu Confused

Im rubbish with faces - is the FBI agent rogue? Is he one of the 'kidnappers'?

I'm going to watch it on +1. Excited!

'Number One' aka Dylan McDermott was the FBI agent that shot the bank hostage taker.

I'm hooked even if I'm following it as well as I follow Homeland (poorly).

Thank you bisjo. I thought so but I'm not good with faces!

So are the FBI behind all this?

I reckon not, I think 'Number one' and the rest are effectively pawns in this game. Did she find the 'mistake' or was that someone else and she was lying to the press cameras?

No idea. Interesting that the man with Dylan's dad was the man who was in the car with the President. It's one of those shows where I'd have liked the first and second episodes to be shown together. There are 15 episodes in all but not sure whether there will be a second series or not (CBS apparently haven't decided yet).

Ah, well you see I missed that - I'm hopeless! If DH was watching it he would have noticed that!

I prefer to watch series as boxsets or on Netflux because I can keep up if I watch them back to back.

I liked that , it seems to be quite a tangled web. I saw the doc switch the vials but missed seeing when she decided to do that . Was that shown?

Enjoyed this but can anyone tell me why she deliberately cut her finger?

I think she was going to chop her finger off so she couldn't peform the surgery.

would you really harm yourself so that she could never operate again? thought the finger cutting was silly

but otherwise was a good programme and enjoyed

have kept on sky+ so will check about the man in car

the fact he is fbi and 12hrs earlier shot a man several times as coz he shoes didnt match was weird

maybe the president is a baddie? else why on the fbi want him dead

or is sexy dermot playing both sides?

glad woofa was ok :)

I enjoyed it. Will definitely be watching again next week. Tate Donavan has aged, Dylan Mc still looks good (shallow emoticon).
