did anyone watch the IT Crowd last night?

I found it funny in parts, but was disconcerted by how much older they looked and, in a weird way, how the two guys looked more starry than before. Like Father Ted, I think it was 50% hilarious and 50% dull, but hang on in for a repeat of the cannibal cellist episode.

I watched, having been a massive fan from the start. I had significantly lowered my expectations for last night's episode so actually found it better than anticipated! It was an enjoyable hour of telly. Some funny bits and some utterly surreal situations, very Father Ted.

They did look much older and I found it hard to believe them in their roles (especially the two guys) as I just pictured them in the other things I've now seen them in.

I thought it was fab - laughed from beginning to end. Loved the Secret Millionaire stuff, the small people racist, mysoginist woman, pepper spray..... endless amusement all of it.

Yes! I watched with equally low expectations but was pleasantly surprised - it's always been one of those sitcoms with a few laugh-out loud moments, surrounded by a mass of quiet smiling in-jokey moments. I liked the way they packed in the old references - Douglas's bionic hand, The Internet, Richmond, etc. But the pacing was a bit weird and set-piecey; it felt like the Father Ted Christmas special where the priests wander around Ireland's biggest lingerie section for absolutely no reason, other than to introduce the Golden Cleric Award. I wonder if the promotional vans with tits was going somewhere else, but ran out of time?

The character I thought most different was Douglas. He seemed meaner than before. Sad

I really enjoyed it.

You can tell they used to? call Graham Linehan Internet Policeman. It was very social networky. I wouldn't think a lot of teh jokes would mean much to someone with an analogue lifestyle

Was that the beginning of a new series then? DH and I caught most of it but wondered what we'd missed

As a huge IT Crowd lover, I too had lowered my expectations for the final episode but was pleasantly surprised.

It did very much have a 'feel' of the characters/actors having been 4 years away - but it still worked well. I loved the back references to 'the internet' and the Robot hand, wasn't expecting to see Richmond in there.

It was a bit "oh let's reminisce about weird things we've done" but it didn't really matter, and I can't believe that I hadn't noticed Roy hadn't said "Have you tried turning it off and on again?" until the very end.

All in all, very satisfactory. Nothing will compare to the Final Countdown, Moss and the German and Jen the Fredo for me thoughGrin

I really enjoyed it but haven't really seen tons of the old episodes but am going to now.
For some reason the phrase 'tiny barista' made me actually cry laughing. I love it.

Dopeysheep, that made me laugh too. I urge you to start from the very first series. The IT Crowd is my go-to comedy when I'm feeling a bit down or trying to work through the night. You won't regret itSmile

It's on the 4oD Comedy youtube channel. I knew it was coming but had no idea when, and wouldn't have known I'd missed it had I not seen it on my 'recommended for you' on youtube.

Is probably on regular 4oD too, come to think of it...

I think it's very 'IT Crowd' that we all watched it with low expectations, despite loving the previous series.

We loved it, dh works in IT and has loved it since the first episode when got very excited about Roy's RTFM t-shirt.

I was weeping with laughter at the Games Board because dh and his friends are exceptionally geeky about board games. I want the clip to appear on Youtube so I can post it to dh's fb page and say "that's you that is".

Floral, the episode with the GAY musical really is the best one I think. It never fails to makes me cry with mirth.

Or "Something happened" where Roy gets kissed on the arse by his masseuse.

Or, the one when Roy looses his coat, gets locked out of the office and becomes homeless within an hour.

Or, when Moss invents 'AbracadaBRA' the most comfortable bra ever known to man and goes on Dragons Den.....

Oh I must stop. Geek alert.

I love the one where Renham ends up in bed with the transsexual - "I thought you said you were from Iran" has become a stock phrase in our household Grin.

Caught up with this last night and it didn't disappoint, we laughed all the way through. Loved Richmond's 'gliding' Grin.

The Gay musical is a favourite in our house but really it is hard to pick as it is all genius.
