Long Lost Family

I remember a thread about this during the last series and some of the programmes felt voyeuristic and with difficult stories, but I'm sobbing at the last story of the mum who had an awful family life and had to give her daughter up for adoption at 10 days old.

Probably doesn't help that I have an 11-week old DD now. Sob!

Anyone else watching?

I am watching. The story re the mother and daughter had me in tears. Her adoptive mother is so lovely too.

I feel for any woman who has to give her child up for adoption. I can't imagine how heart-wrenching it must be :(

Oh no, and this woman was forced to by her husband, who is just sitting in the next room, reading the paper Shock

Oh and now the dad is upset too.
Blimey.

It's like the thread that's now in classics.

Phew. Ad break.

Seems he does have a heart Wing

The lovely photos of their son smiling is touching. He has been through so much.

I really shouldn't watch it as it makes me angry about my bio dad and the fact he decided I wasn't good enough to know when we first met, me aged 30, a few years ago.

But I am watching. The stories tonight are so touching. The man who's parents actually got married, how emotional.

Lego, I'm really sorry about your birth dad :(

You're right patience, he does.

Back to the first mum. Where are my tissues...

Do you think this man will feel even more rejected knowing that his parents are married and he has a full sister, and yet they didn't want to find him?

Oh gosh, don't apologise about that wanker. I've an amazing dad who has been in my life since I was a baby, who I wouldn't swap for the world.

I do findit strange how they never tried to find him, but then adoption was so different years ago.

It's just heartbreaking when you hear about situations women were put in, having to give up their children.

Really heart warming. The daughter and son turned out so well and were so lovely -they showed no bitterness.

I felt so sorry for that second mum too. My DH has been out tonight and will be coming home soon to find my mascara running all down my cheeks!

Omg I was hysterically crying - not helped by the fact that I am 20 weeks pregnant and very hormonal! Smile

Everyone involved was very loving, supportive and open, and basically reasonable and nice people. Makes me worried that this program gives false hope to people who fantasise about their 'lovely' birth parents.
