First semi final about to start on BBC3.

Love the name, thought I was more of a Sweep fan myself....seriously.....Eurovision.......are you kidding me? I just love it! My DH is even worse and will be glued to the semi finals now, mostly for the scantily clad dolly birds!

T'was obviously better in the old days when GB had at least some chance of winning, all this political voting has gone OTT.

I have absolutely loved Jedward's last two attempts rather than GBs thought I have to say. When I think of all the soppy tripe that has won for Ireland, esp in the 80's and Jedward don't get a look in, scandalous!

Can't wait to see which dummies are hosting either, that's one of the most entertaining bits. Roll on Saturday evening..........

We love it too, it's so bad it's great! Will be sitting as a family on Saturday night with wine (obviously me and DH, not DDs!) and junk to eat as is now the family tradition on Eurovision night - we all select a country to support too - can't wait!!

My DH says thanks he had forgot it was on

Maryz Tue 14-May-13 20:24:17

I'm watching through my fingers from behind the sofa grin.

I haven't even heard the Irish song. Does anyone know when it is on?

Maryz Tue 14-May-13 20:24:41

I rather liked the choir boys at the start - they should win, imo.

Raahh Tue 14-May-13 20:24:57

I just remembered it's the semi's! Will record it to watch later (Dh will watch the main event, but anything else is pushing it!)grin

I'm watching, I haven't missed a eurovision in 25 years. Me and the kids are having our annual eurovision party on saturday night while dh has his annual COD night upstairs out of the way not loving any of the semi final songs so far.

Irish song is on 13th, unlucky for some.

Aww one of the Croatian chaps is teeny tiny. You need height to pull off that amount of embroidery.

Raahh Tue 14-May-13 20:27:41

This one looks like Shakira.

Bogeyface Tue 14-May-13 20:28:09

Hiya!

Been sent here after posting in the wrong place blush

OP here

smile

Maryz Tue 14-May-13 20:28:14

That was a bit "four tenors"-ish hmm

This is a bit TOTP circa 1970, with slightly better hair.

ceramicunicorn Tue 14-May-13 20:29:14

That Dane playing the whistle is rather lovely.

Maryz Tue 14-May-13 20:29:40

Sorry Bogey, I just hate it when there are two threads, as I can't cope with flipping from thread to thread.

And anyway, this is in the right place [slight ocd emoticon]

i'm now watching on the laptop.

We weren't going to bother with it this year- going on a Star trek meet up Saturday, supposedly.

Maryz Tue 14-May-13 20:30:27

RTE have managed to get an ad break in hmm

I will flip to BBC3.

ClaraOswald Tue 14-May-13 20:31:58

watch it on Eurovision TV, MAryZ

Raahh Tue 14-May-13 20:32:45

sad no Grannies this year.

Magna Tue 14-May-13 20:33:38

The grannies were brilliant last year

Raahh Tue 14-May-13 20:34:51

They were. Great British bake off, meets Russian grannies. With Singing. This one is a bit meh. Sorry, Russia.

Maryz Tue 14-May-13 20:35:31

It's interesting that these are mostly in English, with non-national singers.

I don't think we stretch to Eurovision TV here, clara.

Raahh Tue 14-May-13 20:35:46

(I really wasn't going to watch it yet- knew I'd get sucked in)grin

ClaraOswald Tue 14-May-13 20:36:28

Lots of power ballads, or is that just me?

Bogeyface Tue 14-May-13 20:36:29

I loved the grannies too!
