last week?
We all watched episode 2 and really loved it, Ithink the music is really great and it is very atmospheric, a bit like Dallas, with guitars! The female leads are all very strong, and the storyline well written, like you say bear something good to look forward to, amongst all the dross!
Haven't seen it yet. Are the clothes, hair, music and houses filled with cliches and stereotypes?
Does it make you want to visit the real city of Nashville?
I am watching!
Oh yes. Love it.
Claire is a real life Austrailan opera singer and Gunnar is an Englishmen. They do southern American very well. Much better accents than the north American accent whats-her-face tries on The Good Wife.
Anyway, everyone on Nashville sings their songs. That is their real voices. Not bad.
It was great - and there is a lot of original music in it! (Unless these are actually borrowed from country artists I've just never heard of?)
Me too I love it. Has filled some of the hole left by Borgen.
Am hoping that it will lead to a surge of Country music loving in the UK and it will at last become socially acceptable for me to wear my cowboy boots out in public!!
I couldn't believe it when I found out Gunnar is English! Still makes me go
when I hear him speak as himself and I should really expect it by now!
Does anyone else remember Charles/Chip/Deacon from Whose Line Is It Anyway? Can't believe how well he's aged
Oooops I meant Scarlett, Clare is her real name.
God, I was totally lost by that, lotuseener! I'm having enough trouble keeping up as it is
I was wondering more whether all the music has been written specially for the show, rather than whether the actors did their own singing. I'm surprised a bit that Hayden Panettiere let them film her with her 'real' singing voice to show how you can improve almost anyone with the autotuner, unless she deliberately did that bit badly?!
For all those of you who love the music, it's available now
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Music_of_Nashville:_Season_1_Volume_1
incl. songs written by Elvis Costello (married to Diana Krall) and John Paul White from the fab The Civil Wars.
Thanks Fussy
Thanks for the heads up fussychica !
I've watched the first 2 and love it. For me, Americans + love triangles will always be a win
<waves to those from The Good Wife thread>
I'm in now. Ep2. I forwarded a lot of the nasal singing.
It needs to move on fr the tour shit
Music crap for me. Plot wearing thin. Raynas make up increasingly morgue style.
Hayden thingy has a duck like mouth
I'm loving it.
After the beginning opening concert bit which was a bit naff I like this one too. It's kind of escapist but not ridiculous. I'm looking forward to Thursday. I normally hate any thing musical ( that american high school singing thing was torture) and I quite enjoy the music in this too.
Marking spot.
Looks like next week is gonna be a good one!
Surprised that Juliette has let her Mum stay, that's never gonna end well! Juliette is growing on me, I didn't like her at first but she's turning out to have a lot more to her than it first seemed. And she keeps getting Deacon's shirt off, I approve of that!
I´ve only watched the first two, but really don´t like Rayna.
Plus felt really sorry for Juliette at the end of the 2nd ep when Deacon called Rayna onto the stage.
Im about to watch the first 3 tonight, so will join this thread tomorrow.
Joining! Watched all three that had recorded while I was away, last night.
I too got very confused with her husband and co-singer they looked so similar. Also got vaguely confused with Watty and the other manager!
I'm enjoying it so far, although I think I can get a feel for how it will pan out. It's nice to watch a non cop/legal/hospital drama tbh. It's a refreshing context.
They seem to be able to knock out a song at the tip of a Stetson though!
Yeah Im confused with who's who re the male parts.
Its ok, will stick with it a bit more see how it pans out. Im not liking Juliette much, but I get the feeling that will change as the story comes out about her.
I think I've got nearly all the men sorted out now - why on earth do they all look so similar?? Very odd. I get why the husband one and the co-singer Deacon would look similar but the rest could be a bit more distinctive!
I don't think Juliette should be a likeable character, not least because third female Clare is such a goody two-shoes.
Just watched Ep 3. Loved the singing by the little girls, Rayna's daughters.
I think Rayna will turn out to not be her father's daughter, but product of her mother's affair.
Also that Juliette will become more sympathetic as we learn about what a meanie her druggie mother was. That's probably why she doesn't like Rayna, cos her ma would listen to her whilst she would shoot up or something....
