Who is the American actor playing the...er..American? What's he been in?
Getting a bit of a Sunday night crush on him, now Cousin Matthew from Downton is no more what's a girl to do?
I really like it but the constant violence, especially the face-punching, is beginning to turn my stomach a bit.
its on iplayer
I'm loving it too...it's getting better as it goes along.
Wiki says that a second series has been commissioned.
(I knew I recognised Jerome from somewhere but hadn't worked out it was him!)
This is the one costume drama dp will watch with me, because its gory enough. Jackson is fwore
I second that Sinister!
Thirded!
I'm loving this. It sort of snuck up on me watched the first couple just out of curiosity but now it's one of those rare 'counting the days until the next one' shows.
Love Matthew McF and am enjoying the dodgy American. I don't get the constant 'Pinkerton' references though.
I also love the Jewish-orphanage woman, and the owner of the whorehouse and her amazing parade of fashions.
V fond of the desk officer at the police station too, in a 'favourite uncle' kind of way.
Lady The Pinkertons were a sort of private security force that got involved in a lot of political stuff back when RS was set. They are part of Securitas now I believe
Thanks kungfu. Bit dodgy then, I take it. Although I've just remembered that in the last episode it transpired that Pinkerton had never heard of him ...
Presumably there's a big dark secret to come out about him and the brothel-owner before the end of the series. Can't wait!
Thanks for that kungfu now I understand it better too!
love this show - the first episode was a bit so-so but it got much better, the main characters are all interesting and the writing seems fairly good. The daughter thing is driving me mad though - still don't understand whether Reid blames himself for good reason or not though?
I think Jackson's identity has to do with the ring he lost gambling and Long Susan tried to get back. Reid now has it and said that the owner was on a list of wanted men from the american police/FBI or whatever they were called then.
Anyone else still watching this ?
I was absolutely gob smacked by last nights episode - the young opliceman: didn't see that coming at all. I did twig about the wife though.
Some of the story line a little far fetched but still loving it
Bets line front desk officer man -"If we find them may we kill them sir?"
I loved last night's, best one yet IMO. Doesn't look good for Jackson for next week. I wonder if the daughter is going to turn up?
I loved it when Jackson shot that man as well - wasnt actually expecting that - thought that someone else was going to shoot him when they were getting ready to duel - or the 'madame' was when he handed her the gun.
so who looks after all those orphans when jewish lady is either off at the women's refuge or snogging Reid?
Cracking episode last night.
So the american's married to the Brothal owner, but they haven't done the deed? Have I got that right? He said something about her wanting to stay unmolested. Bit of an odd career choice for a virgin.
They don't seem to like each other half the time either.
Dh and I both love it.
I just KNEW he was going to snog orphanage woman.
Can't quite take his wife seriously after seeing her play Lady Mary in BeingHuman last week!
I also loved the last episod. I am really pleased there will be a second series but sad at the loss of the young policeman
Love this,I blubbed when Jerome walked into the morgue where the young policeman was laid out and said "no not the lad sir"
Yes she was fab as Lady Mary! I'll be imagining her swearing like a trouper now.
God I love this programme. Did anyone else feel their heart go re the reveal about his daughter at the end?
I really wanted a happy ending, it wouldn't have been in the spirit of the series though.
No it would have been too neat a tie up if it had been her. They are doing another series I hope ?? Anyone know ?
