Who is the American actor playing the...er..American? What's he been in?
Getting a bit of a Sunday night crush on him, now Cousin Matthew from Downton is no more what's a girl to do?
I think it's his drawling voice that does it......
Is this worth watching on catch up _ I tried the first episode and got hopelessly lost, - I feel as if it's the sort of thing I might like if I could get into it, - does it improve after first episode?
Sorry I've asked a question rather than answering yours
but here's his biog. if it's any help - he's not an actor I know.
But he's no replacement for Matthew - what are you thinking?????
Twas much better episode today!
How did the wife manage to escape the same fate as the others though?
kurri I'm enjoying it, the sets are amazing, all CGIed no doubt but still impressive. Matthew's voice is veeeeeery sexy too non? It's the M and S food ads that do it!
I'm not sure either how wifey escaped the lurgy?
Yes thought the last 2 episodes were better than the first.
That's good - I'll watch on iplayer and get back into it then
yes Matthew v-sexy voice - I may have to give up on Downton with him gone (Carson doesn't cut it!) on the plus side presumably Matthews had a better job offer that's why he's left.
No no no, I have harboured a life long crush on Paddy Garvey Jerome Flynn since way back in the soldier soldier days.
<showing my age now>
I'm really enjoying it so far, but the continuity problem with the scratches on the detective's face was so distracting! On the left when it happened, then on the right when they were outside the bakery, then back on the left again back at the station!
But at least I wasn't hiding behind the sofa like I was with the Fagin-type bloke on Episode 2.
HoobleDooble DH noticed that too and said how ridiculas that it kept swopping. How or why do they do that?
This series gets better and better. Mind you, I didn't know that prostitutes in Victorian London had access to a Mac cosmetics counter. That young girl who had been so badly treated by Creepy McGann and the Scary Doctor came good at the end - and she looked like she'd been avidly devouring the latest make up blogs.
My fave characters are Reid (though I don't find him attractive), Jerome thingy sidekick (very attractive) and the Jewish orphanage lady. I think she will get a shag by the end of the series, I hope so anyway.
Oh and the eager young laddie copper. very sweet.
I am really enjoying this series, I don't fancy Reid but Jerome Flynn and the american guy are both attractive. The mystery about Reid's daughter is driving me mad though, he has dropped several hints about her not being dead.
has the daughter thing been explained?
I assumed his daughter was dead - interesting ....
I love this series, its my compulsive Sunday night viewing.
He asked that orphanage lady what she would do if a little girl who wasn't jewish were brought to her and he told the wife that he couldn't join her in mourning their daughter so I assume she is missing rather than dead.
I thought his dd was killed in a fire and he was burned all over his arm and shoulder trying to rescue her. The American man I find strangely attractive made some reference to the dd and scars during their fight .
I am totally confused now then!
maybe she went missing in a fire and he rushed in to rescue her but couldnt find her. Thats my guess. Hence the wife (who he doesnt seem to talk too) mourning her death while he holds out hope?
There's amystery about Jackson too. Mind you, seems that in 1889 you could waltz in and start dissecting without letters of reference or anything!
Hobbs looks like he should be doing his A levels
blimey
So presumably he thinks she is with one or more of the other survivors
But where was the boat and where would survivors go to?
Oh, it doesn't make sense, but it looks lush so who cares?
Loving Ripper Street. Don't always understand it, but compelling all the same. And Jerome Flynn, who usually leaves me cold, is really good as the sidekick.
so thats awkward. Having snogged the jewish lady and gone home to the wife.
DH and I hsve missed this series. Is it worth getting on dvd? Will it be boxset watching worthy?
I wouldn't buy it, Galaxymum, but might be worth Lovefilming it.
It's better than Whitechapel but not a patch on The Crimson Petal And The White, put it that way
