Am I the only woman watching Arrow?

I know its a "suspend all logic" piece of cheesy comic book action but I am loving it! The rather handsome men dont hurt!

I am hoping that is not the last we have seen of Colin Salmon, he gets better and better with age.

Also, unlike Grimm (which I like on the whole) I really like the female characters in Arrow.

Nope. I love it (and have other female friends who like it)

Not at all! have been eagerly anticipating it and so far it's living up to expectations!

Really like Grimm too.

i am half watching it (usually mumsnetting). I do like Colin Salmon and the other dude who was in Dexter as Debs boyfriend

Thats nice to know - I was starting to think my taste is TV meant I should be a teenage boy Grin

I love the way there is a whole back story and none of the characters seem to be either black or white. I am loving diggle the bodyguard and his one liners (is he the guy you were talking about from Dexter as I know ive seen him somewhere else)

I'm watching it too. I wasn't sure at first but think it's got alot better. I started watching purely for eye candy purposes but now getting into the story, honest!

I love watching stuff like this, the problem is that anything I like seems to get cancelled after one or two years as the plot is too intelligent to get the mass low brow followers in the states.

I'm watching too, it's not normally my kind of thing but I am liking it.

I started watching it but I have deleted it now as I'm not keen. It's just Batman really - Rich bloke turns superhero to save his city.

I think it's brilliant, loving it. Its more like a movie than a tv programme I think. Seems to be very high budget and on a huge scale. I was wondering if anyone else was watching and surprised it didn't have a thread.

Im not really into Batman "Rich bloke turns superhero to save his city" thats pretty much where the comparison ends though isnt it, this has way more of a back story to it and he is putting right the wrongs his family have been involved in creating.

Was looking on another forum and they were saying they were all watching it for John Barrowman which I thought was odd - hes not a nice character and his role is tiny.

I am hoping its not cancelled, like you say it looks like maybe expensive to make but then the cast are not particularly high profile - so many series have high profile "film" actors in now which must cost a fortune.

My boys really like it, they lost interest in Grimm really quickly.

It's odd you saying the cast isn't high profile (although I agree) because one of the things that I like about it is that I 'know' so many of the actors from other things I watch Grin There's Ruby Mk1 from Supernatural, whose Dad is Harry Dresden from the Dresden files, and I've seen Benny-the-vampire (also from Supernatural) plus all the other random Canadian actors I've wiki'd because they look so familar, and it turns out they've been in shows I watch - the Canadian TV industry is like one big family...

I'm also watching and loving (both this and Grimm). This should be alright as far as cancellation goes, it's on one of the smaller networks in the US (with Supernatural and TVD) which never gets a huge amount of viewers but Arrow is doing well by its standards, and is also more male-oriented than most of their shows. We are definitely getting a whole first season, and I reckon it is a fair bet for a second one too.

I like it too- though I'm a bit worried they are rattling through the back story too quickly, and I like a nice long story arc.

Dexter, arrow ( the comic book character) was conceived as a rival to batman ( one is d c and the other marvel I think). Lots of comic book characters basically completely steal from others!

The supporting cast look good, though I'm not sure about barrowman. I also agree the women are better than in Grimm, which might as well have left his girlfriend out altogether and had a shag triangle between the three male leads. Still I haven't started series 2 yet, maybe that will be better.

I only saw the first episode and it didn't 'hook' me. Perhaps I should have given it more of a chance.

I'm watching it. Unfortunately my DH saw one episode (with lots of very strenuous manly chin-ups and flexing of pecs) and basically refused to watch any more! So now I record it and watch it when he's not in!!

Ahhh is it Canadian, I knew the lead actor was and thought it "felt" Canadian (not that I could explain what that means)

Haha "used to" amazing how quickly the H's take umbrage when we get some eye candy for once.

"Little" I wasnt overwhelmed by the first episode but am now thoroughly hooked.

Yes, my DH also objected that Arrow in the comics was not generally shirtless, and also some other arcane detail was not entirely correct. I did Hmm face and now watch it while he's at work, which is far more fun!

Thanks to the US Thanksgiving hiatus we've pretty much caught up now. New episodes air on Wednesday nights there, and we're going to see it the following Monday, which, given how so many shows I watch trail behind by months and occasionally years, is pretty good Smile

DH is enjoying it but was joking last night "oh not only did he have time to get across town and into his outfit, he also had time to put his green makeup on - does he carry his makeup bag with him all the time?"

Son did point out that if he were a superhero he would choose a machine gun rather than a bow and arrow.

I think the amount of time he spends shirtless is perfectly acceptable Grin - he needs to watch True Blood if he wants to get female nudity payback.

Just to add my enjoyment of this series. It's so non-taxing and entertaining, great viewing! Not the fastest moving plot, and utterly predictable, but fun.

Don't like Laurel at all, but dh thinks I'm being unreasonable. I'm hoping she acquires some better lines as the series goes on. Love the fact that the age gaps between parents and children seems to be amazingly small!
