Did anyone watch Hunted? Isn't Melissa George pouty?

Not that I would say anything to her face in case she shot me or broke my neck.

AitchTwoOhOneTwo Fri 05-Oct-12 11:39:41

yep, the first half was real make or break time, wasn't it? we've seen the killing, don't ya know?
i was watching it for work, doubt i would have stuck with it had i not been. however, like i say, i'm really enjoying it now.

I can't watch her. She's still that bird from H&A. What happened to Dieter Brummer though?

cocolepew United States Fri 05-Oct-12 11:47:52

You don't have to be buillt like a brick shithouse to be strong <cracks knuckles>

Dieter Brummer just got deaded in Neighbours. He was a bad'un.

It was the dialogue that killed me. Itw as cliche after cliche followed by obvious plot point. The bit where Pouty Chops and Old Blue eyes were in her bedsit made my bum cringe.

OBE: So, you thought it was me? That I would kill the mother of my baby?
PC: <boggle eyed>
OBE: That's right. I know every inch of you <stares moddily in to distance>

It was actually a bit like when Joey in 'Friends' was Dr. Drake Ramoray.

It was cliche bingo.

Oh thanks! I'm surprised the best he could do was end up in Neighbours though.

He was alright back then.

EdMcDunnough Fri 05-Oct-12 12:00:12

Why are there only about 15 actors in Australia anyway?

He's not as pretty, now, Ed. There are very few pretty actors in Neighbours now sad

Moodily. Not moddily. He wasn't on a scooter sporting a Paul Weller haircut.

EdMcDunnough Fri 05-Oct-12 12:02:54

See now you've said that, in my mind, he WAS on a scooter with a Paul Weller haircut.

I can't shake it now. grin

threesocksmorgan Fri 05-Oct-12 12:05:59

can anyone explain why the "bad" man did that horrid thing with the needle and that mans eye.....I got a bit lost

TheSmallPrint Fri 05-Oct-12 12:23:07

bleurgh that made me want to throw threesock!

cocolepew United States Fri 05-Oct-12 12:24:21

Because he's a baddie <helpful>

cocolepew United States Fri 05-Oct-12 12:33:23

Deacon was Mr Eko in Lost! Hope it's easier to understand than that hmm

AitchTwoOhOneTwo Fri 05-Oct-12 13:41:43

and adebisi in oz. he is THE most amazing actor, imo. although not doing much in this...

I wondered if he needed the poor chap's retina for ID purposes? Or maybe he was just bad to the bone? How many of the back up team do you think will be pitilessly slaughtered by series end?

I'm going for at least 80%. Wee tech info woman and new recruit specialist forces guy have Dead Meat running through them like a stick of rock.

cocolepew United States Fri 05-Oct-12 16:30:51

I don't trust new special forces guy. Bet he's a bad 'un.

SoupDragon Fri 05-Oct-12 16:36:03

The washed out colour annoyed me immensely. Did they only have cheap cameras?

cocolepew United States Fri 05-Oct-12 16:39:58

I never realised it was supposed to be like that. I was thinking a bit of blusher wouldn't go amiss.

SoupDragon Fri 05-Oct-12 17:20:16

I think i's meant to be arty or something. It also annoyed me with that Kenneth Brannagh thing... Wallander

AitchTwoOhOneTwo Fri 05-Oct-12 20:11:09

it's the nordic style... they arse about with the grading in post-production. it's supposed to look physically and emotionally chilly, which is why they rarely show these things in summer.

alcibiades Fri 05-Oct-12 20:19:22

I've just watched this and quite enjoyed it, which was a bit of a surprise as I don't watch much TV these days apart from documentaries.

This may be significant (or not) but the creator of the show, Frank Spotnitz, was one of the senior writers on X-Files, and I've read elsewhere that he originally wrote it with Gillian Anderson (Agent Scully) in mind for the lead part. That might explain the poutiness because that was often the look that Anderson had when Scully was pissed off. But, I've never watched anything that Melissa George was in before, so I don't know whether poutiness is part of her acting style.

I did think that some of the washed out colouring was reminiscent of X-Files in the early seasons when they were filming in Vancouver. I guess if it's a bleak story then bright sunshine doesn't really work too well.

SoupDragon Sat 06-Oct-12 07:39:34

I wish they'd stop with the "nordic style". It's why I ditched Wallender and why I doubt I'll be carrying on with Hunted. It is unnecessarily grim and depressing and I find it distracting - the unrealistic lighting effects spoil it for me.

AitchTwoOhOneTwo Sat 06-Oct-12 10:37:58

it's montalbano you're after, clearly... grin

the nordic thing is a big trend, still, but it will pass.

fussychica England Sat 06-Oct-12 14:39:49

Pout put me off but her man kept me watching wink
DH thinks she's rather nice hmm
The eye thing was yukshock
Love scandi & the fabulous Montalbano - more subtitles the better!

I could have bloody slapped her pouty lentil-weaving-weird-ass-face in EVERY episode of The Slap and her husband and child too

<shudders at memory>

I haven't watched this new series yet. When they interviewed her on BBC Breakfast she managed to act less pouty and pretty normal. Should I bother watching it? Or just delete it??
