Carole Malone-vilest remarks ever on TV?

I couldn't believe what I was hearing watching Carole Malone's comments on This Morning about the terrible Philpot tragedy, ?who were bringing attention to themselves? and was ?an accident waiting to happen?

Ms Malone is an experienced journalist and commentator who knew exactly what she was saying.

Inappropriate, distasteful and insensitive, I would be ashamed to pay her fee for this appearance.

Thanks for this. I was looking for a thread .a
I dislike this woman intensely but she is generally an irrelevance.
This has crossed the line and taken victim blaming to a new level.

I wondered if there would be a thread on this. I watched with disgust. I thought it sounded like she was saying that they were asking for it. It's a tragedy what's happened to this poor family. Thanks for the links I will make a complaint.

She is a vile woman.

jeez -so because they go on reality tv then it was bound to happen that someone would pour petrol through their letterbox and set the house on fire while innocent children are asleep in their bed????

I can't think how anyone can even think those things for a nano second, let alone believe it is a good idea to go on telly and voice them to an audience of millions just as that poor man and woman are speaking at a press conference about the death of their 6 children.

She knows exactly what she is doing. What a ghastly woman.

I cannot get out of my head how bloody gracious that poor father was today at the press conference, no blame and no anger seemingly, just thanks to those who had tried to help. How can anyone look at that family and feel anything but sheer horror and pity for their loss and grief?

wow, that is shocking. What terrible and insensitive, no, it's beyond insensitive, ignorant, spiteful, heartless, evil.

6 innocent little children died and she has the bare face to sit there and basically blame the parents. It's an accident waiting to happen. Some evil loon pouring petrol through the letter box is not an accident. Angry :( Poor little kids :( Horrible woman.

What does she think? That people who live in council houses are somehow subhuman, and because that bloke went on an Ann Widdecombe show, Jeremy Kyle and had loads of kids and asked for a bigger house, jealous types in his community were likely to be inspired by jealousy to torch his house? And this is seen by CM as somehow predictable and something which was 'bound to happen?'

What an absolute load of arse. What kind of world does that woman live in?

She is projecting.
What evidence does she have that the family had lots of enemies becasue of their lifestyle?
She is vile.

She was on a few weeks ago. A teenager, a recovered anorexic, was talking about the impact of airbrushed images on self esteem.
She was articulate, intelligent and speaking in a measured and sensible way.

CM dismissed her well thought out arguments with glib comments in the style of Jeremy Clarkeson.

I didnt think she could get much worse than that.
I was wrong.

Really really disgusting. I hate this blaming parents thing when something horrible like this happens.
We are having the same thing over here with the rape and murder of Tori Stafford, a child. People are blaming the mother (who has addiction problems) even though that would have in no way stopped these two monsters from picking Tori up and killing her.

I think she was trying to illustrate the point that there is a lot of opprobrium heaped upon families like this, perpetuated by the media. The father was happy to publicise their situation and the media was happy to enable him because of the 'benefit culture' negative press so popular with papers like the Express and the DM.

I think her choice of phrase was unfortunate, but I believe she meant that this father had inadvertently made himself the target of nutters by taking part in tv shows.

I remember watching Charlie Brooker being very scathing re Carole Malone's columns about Jade Goody, their spite and unrelenting vitriol when she was in her heyday, and then the fake mawkishness when she was ill and died.
