What on earth has happened to my 4od window?

Cos it's gone all funny peculiar.

I only started watched British TV a few months back when I got a British IP address (am abroad). It's all been working pretty well and it's great being able to watch the programmes in the same week they're broadcast instead of years later on BBC Entertainment (crappy channel for expats).

So I mainly watch BBC and 4od. When I first started with 4od I got the small window opening and then a menu bar underneath which let me play/pause and choose full screen. It also went straight over the adverts - there was just half a second gap between programme segments. Then a few weeks ago it suddenly appeared with adverts (not so surprising on a commercial channel) and previews (massively annoying having previews for programmes which are long gone), and most annoyingly, the menu bar has disappeared so I can't pause or full screen it. Did I press anything inadvertently? Do I need to change a setting? I even registered with 4od in the hope it would solve the problem, but no joy. Has there been a change with any of you based in the UK too?

This happened to me this week and I started a thread for help too.

The adverts covered the menu bar and I couldn't really control it. When I went to watch something else later in the week it was fine so I am afraid I can't help you.

I do sympathise though.

Ooh, sorry, celery, I didn't see your thread.

I do wonder what caused your to get right by itself though

Is it working yet?

Nope, fraid not. If I need to pause it in the middle I have to go back a screen to the selection menu and then come back to it and hope it's still at the same place and not started from the beginning again IYSWIM.

And I can hardly ask Channel 4 what the problem is because they wouldn't be too thrilled that I'm viewing from abroad. It is most befuddling.

Just found this thread while googling the problem. The fix suggested on a different forum was to check the size of display on your laptop - if it's less than 100% the option for full screen isn't displayed. E.g press CTRL and + at the same time to enlarge. Worked for us so thought I'd share!

Good grief, it's worked!

Tis me, the OP, under a new name. The problem has been going on for the last 18 months and I just sucked it up. So I just tried it out now with one programme, just pressed CTRL + once and the menu bar suddenly appeared. Can't believe it was that simple. Feel a right eedjit now. Am enormously grateful to you, Banana Pie.

Now there's the just the other little problem - that I want to watch Channel 4 on my Ipod Touch, and blardy Apple won't let me download the app because I'm not registered in the UK.

NB to MNHQ: Yes, I really want to reanimate my own zombie thread. V. funny zombie cartoon.

You need a British itunes address. So you need a British address, like a postal address.

But Savoy then she will lose all of the other apps she has paid for and essentially have to start again.

I find 4od buggy at the best of times, and that's when viewing in the UK. I don't think it's coded very well in general.

No, she won't. You just have to switch accounts for updates in the settings, but apart from that its easy.

I have uk, us and Australian apps.
