I don't understand a part that happened on the episode that was shown on Channel 4 last week. The bit where Sawyer shoots the guy who he thinks is Sawyer. What does that guy say, and is it the wrong person? I didn't quite get it. Thanks.

The guy who got him the name set Sawyer up to believe that this Sawyer had caused his parents death, but really he just owed some money to the guy who got Sawyer the name and he wasn't called Sawyer at all.
HTH, it sounds a bit confusing, sorry.

I thought that the 'Lost Sawyer' went to shoot the Shrimp bloke because he thought that the Shrimp bloke was the original Sawyer - they guy who's name he took & the guy who had an affair with his Mum leading to his Dad killing his Mum & then committing suicide.

BUT, I thought that the bloke in Sawyer's hotel room in the first flashback, the one who put Sawyer onto the Shrimp bloke, was the real original Sawyer who had the affair with his Mum. The Shrimp bloke, like emkana said, was just some bloke who owed the hotel room guy some money.

Make any sense now?

Yeah that makes sense now. Thanks

He wasn't Sawyer. Just some bloke who owed Hibbs money. As he was dying he said to sawyer,'you don't even know what you're doing'. Sawyer realises that Hibbs has used him.

agree with homemama. And Hibbs can't be the original Sawyer as he's too young.
It was just a plot to show (Lost) Sawyer making a huge mistake and killing an innocent person.
We still don't know who the original Sawyer is.

Been analysing Lost way too much over the past few days... most of the characters have issues because of their fathers.

Sawyer - all because his dad lost it over the affair
Jack - Surgeon dad
Michael - well, they are father and son, so a pretty obvious one
Chinese couple - all linked with her dad
Boon & Shannon - step siblings who shared a dad (I think it was the dad)
Older blokey (forgotten his name) - He's muttered about not getting on great with his dad before

I know I am still left with a few missing pieces, and DH was highly amused by my theory that if Claire's baby's dad hadn't left her, then she wouldn't have been there, and that Ethan was clearly nuts because his dad must have missed a ballet show or something , but there are a hell of a lot of daddy things coming up...

I don't think Boon and Shannon shared a parent. I think her mum was married to his dad (or vice versa). They're not actually related by blood. Are they?

I think Ethan is the missing Alex (?) - son of the French woman. Obviously missing a strong father figure.

Ahh, that could be it - I guess that makes them slightly less icky . Oooh, I'd forgotten about the missing Alex - yup, clearly lack of father figure that sent him nuts!

He's pretty

Boon and Shannon aren't blood-related. Hence the sex thing being less icky.

I love Sawyer. I think he's good deep down. And he gets all my sympathy because of his childhood traumas. And he's much more interesting than boring Jack (god I hope he starts to jolly up a bit soon!)

Jack is pretty tiresome. Not a lot of fun, there.

I'd like to think the choice was a bit wider than "good but boring" vs "evil but interesting".

I like the theory (is it DaddyCool?) that they are all dead, and it is a sort of processing their past issues before they can get to grips with moving on to death. Sooo... going with that, his dad's body was there, so maybe the dad is lurking and processing too?

The tattoos look really out of place on Jack too...

BUT - are they going to find that they are all linked in some way to each other in the next series?
Sawyer having a drink with Jack's dad in the bar last night? I'm sure someone else had a link earlier in the series.

ps - How many episodes are left to go?

Report
flamesparrow · 22/11/2005 11:46

No idea to either question

I'm finding Lost really odd... I watch it each week and enjoy it, but I don't actually care about any of the characters (apart from Hurley for some reason...) - I don't really care why any of them are there, if they will live or die etc. Even when Charlie got strung up, my main thought was that he'd gone all the way to Mordor and back without dying, and it seemed wrong to kill off a hobbit now!
