Good kids that turn as teens?

Has anyone had experience of previously good kids that suddenly turn when they hit their teenage years?

My DS was always such a good kid, everyone said he would make a rich man of himself when he was older but he seems to be changing, now that he's 13 it seems like he's going completely the other way.

I'm worried, is this normal in teen years to TOTALLY change?

Yes afraid so (for some). Last summer I had a gorgeous happy clever helpful intelligent little angel who loved helping me and going places together. Then suddenly she went to bed one night and was morphed into a alien. I took it quite hard and still am ,but this site has kept me going just to hear of others in the same situation and I've read all the books that have been suggested. She used to be into dancing and music and had so many interests. Now she has dropped everything and instead of getting merits at school she get DT's. She spends all her time in her room on msn and only speaks when she wants her phone topped up. I find it all very sad and lonely, and no help from her dad who she does not see very often. I understand the hormonal changes are a lot to do with it, but the rest is beyond me. She won't come anywhere with me anymore. And I know she is lying and stealing.

When i was a teenager (not so long ago) i went frombeing a strieght A student when i started seondary school to living by myself, dropping out of school and generally driving my mother to a breakdown when i was 14!

I changed 100% in a year my poor mum was knocked backwards, she didn't know how to cope.

Im not sure why, i guess i really wanted indipendence and wasn't getting any at all and there were alot of hormone changes going on.
