Where have they gone? I'm sure you've brought him up with good values and he will be as good as good. Failing that, he won't tell you what he's been up to and so you won't know!

I'm not sure my ds would emerge from his room for long enough to go on a lads holiday ...Im sure your ds will be very sensible tho

I remember when a friends ds went on a camping holiday to the south of France a couple of years ago (aged 17/18). And they drove there

He's still a baby in my mind! They came back alive and well - of course.

I love your pep talk, Aunty! Brilliant and to the point. No point going any deeper than that, he wouldn't listen and it would be a wasted conversation. I think you were straight to the point and matter of a fact enough, for him to take that advice whenever he goes away!

auntymandy · 30/06/2008 20:48

well at least i wont lay awake waiting for him to come home tonight!!

ON one of DS1's early trips (post AS or A2) to Greece, one of his party was arrested on the first night - accused of stealing the contents of an ice cream freezer. Apparently this is a standard trick pulled by the local police on one island and resulted in a 400 Euro "fine" - strangely no receipt was forthcoming. DS's friends were all very average boys at academic school, not remotely English yobs.

Ds gets back today from a trip to Wales with a (mixed but not in relationships ) group of 8. All celebrating the end of GCSE's, and someone's mum very kindly let them use her house. I understand it's still intact!

I always remind ds that baby = 15% of your salary for the next 18 years. He's very money focussed!!

Can't wait to see him.

DS1 and friends didn't get back the 400 euro fine - it was a scam by the local police and their friends! They have gone on to gap years and university somewhat wiser about the world.
