I was standing in queue ahead of a group of teenagers. One said:

"the parents are going on holiday next week"

Friend says "Oh we should have a house party then"

First one says: "Nah - they are at that age when they don't like us to have a party when they aren't there".

I had to resist the urge to ask them at what age they thought their parents would outgrow this phase.

LOL Dh and I are in our 30s with a baby but are planning to have a party when his parents go away in a fortnight

Mind you we do have permission to use house and they do live 100 miles away from us.

When I was about 16 my Grandmother went to visit her brother in the States and my family moved into her house to mind it. My parents threw a huge party. There must have been about 120 guests there.

I don't know if my Mum even told Granny that the party would be happening. Do you think it's too late to sneak on her 24 years on?

A friend who I used to work with threw a houseparty when she was about 16 when her mum and stepdad went away. Some local yoofs gatecrashed the party and took the video- some stuck around to cause trouble and had pellet guns that they were firing at people.

Friend dialled 999 to report the video being stolen with pandemonium going on around her, boys are firing pellets and she screams down the phone "...and they have got guns and are shooting at us"

So within a few minutes, an Armed Response Team- complete with weapons come screeching to a halt in riot vans outside the house.

she was on the front page of local news paper the next day.
