let him stay off, why are you worried 1 day off since sept is great!

My rule is that the child must rest at home all day and not go out. They must also check later with their friends to see what they have missed at school and make up any homework required.

you can tell he is ill as he is being nice
I worry as he had quite a few days off last year and we have been really working on his attendance. but you wouldn't go to work feeling that bad would you??
He will just stay at home lounging.

If it's only one day off since september, can't see the problem. He is going to school regularly now, whatever his attendance was like before.

Lucky you for having such a healthy son. My year 8 son is forever coming down with things.

Check how he is during the day, and get him any medicine that is necessary, so he has no excuses about not getting better. If you want to be hard, you could always ban computer, mobile phone and TV for the day, so if he stays at home it is in bed reading or sleeping.

2shoes - let him have the day off. My dd, yr 8 had 75% attendance last year and this year is only shaping up slightly better.

I was struck down with this on 2nd Jan and am still not right. Wake every night two or three times with horrendously painful sore throat. And my sinuses aren't clear yet either.

My DS (year 11) has been off sick today too for the first time in over a year.

he is ok in fits and bursts iynwim. then goes downhill. severe lack of energy. think we are looking at another day off. it is a 6 oclock wake up for him. so a long day if you are unwell. my freind had the same thing last week. and she said her appetite was fine but described it as you did noddy.
