Holiday packing panic

We are going on holiday for 1 week starting tomorrow.
DD and I were packing her stuff and I asked if she wanted to take her favourite teddy bear (for comfort). She got really upset and said she couldn't decide whether to or not. I found out that this was because she has a fear of airplanes and had this wondering thought that if the plane crashes (very unlikely but still) that she would never see her bear again. She also told me she had read a book where a boy lost his teddy bear on holiday and never found it and it ruined his holiday!!!
I know this isn't a huge issue but I would be nice to see what everybody else thinks

This is posted in teenagers so thinking a teenager or anyone over 10 should decide for themselves whether they need the comfort of a soft toy on a weeks holiday.

under 5 just take it. Age 5-10 then remind them that a story is just a story and that a soft toy is just a possession and whilst we do love our things, at the end of the day the world won't end if it goes missing. You will need to tackle the flying thing though and I've no ideas on that score other than showing her the data on accidents - you might have trouble getting her in the car again though...

It's Ok my DD 15 was very worried about taking her beloved bear on a sailing holiday in case the boat sank and the bear drowned.....she took him anyway.

We also lost the bear once at Heathrow but we managed to find him again before it was time to board the plane......

Hope she took her bit of comfort and that you had a great holiday.
